Its a federal fine, and yeah can be amazingly expensive! Not worth it, IMHO. I understand they have test strips these days that can test the exhaust for the dye, nothing invasive as you don't own your exhaust once it leaves the truck :banghead:

That's the same logic they use to hold you without probable cause while the drug dogs are called in. Perhaps this would deter them from stopping and holding citizens without probable cause.
 Edit: Ever notice how they don't fine people running home brew since it isn't dyed?

They are sticking tanks here in Minnesota too. $1000 fine IF you refuse to allow them to check your tank and $100 per gallon capacity or $1000 which ever is the greater amount for red fuel. My daughter just got her tank checked last week on the side of the road.

Funny, I used to haul NRLM (Non-road, Locomotive and Marine (500 PPM-dyed diesel)) to Black Thunder Coal Mine is Wyoming. We'd haul 1 load/day up there for a week, then DRY DRAIN the compartments (stick a metal bucket under the outlets and open the valves to get out any residual AT THE FUEL TERMINAL) then load clear diesel to go to the service stations. There is a site glass on the discharge valve, the fuel always came out clean and clear (Sometimes green) and there were never any problems that i ever heard of with cross contamination. I don't have my handy little cheat sheet here, but I'm pretty sure that company standard practice. I'm not sure why it seems so hard to clean out of the system. On second thought, maybe we had to haul a full load of gasoline before hauling clear diesel. It's been 2 years. Gasoline is a hell of a tank cleaner.

ah the red stuff its like crack rock for diesel engines, i love the stuff and nobodys sticking tanks around here-just throw some vp top lube in the tank i think the bubble gum smell is quite strong and use it as a conversational piece with the highway patrol:lol:

Are you taking about the vp lube that is used with methanol. If so have a case left over from my racing days. I did not know it could be used with diesel

yes thats the stuff, it is a top end cylinder lube at its core and i don't think it will harm anything. i've ran it in my diesel before with no problems. it's not nearly as noticable of a smell as in methanol but you can still pick it up in the air

Well the only thing is I don't know if HSD is fine in a VP44. I don't see any reason it wouldn't be, but I am not sure. Not sure enough to tell you it's 100% fine

Hmm, oklahoma.. I might just have to run down and get some :lmao:

--- Update to the previous post...

You get the Idaho view and don't have to worry about tornadoes so it evens out :lmao:

Well we have apparently the seconded highest fuel prices, AND sub zero 10 plus feet of SNOW a year, every year (except last freak year). :smart: Even... still not sold on that lol

Its legal to brew your own beer and make wine at home up to certain amount in gallons. you just can't sell it. forget how many gallons a year you can make. but its legal. got a rig at my house to make beer. I will probably have to make some to celebrate if i ever get my truck running.

You may want to rethink that. Our neo-progressive Marxist regime called government says otherwise: http://www.michigan.gov/documents/DLEGbiodieselFAQs_157925_7.pdf http://www.southeastdiesel.org/Photos/So%20you%20want%20to%20make%20biodiesel11.15.07.pdf http://desertbiofuels.org/attachments/046_ArizonaBiodieselRegulatoryEnvironment.pdf http://www.dornc.com/downloads/gas1262_mfapp.pdf http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f8864.pdf I think biodiesel is definitely cool. If you make it, DON'T sell to ANYONE you don't know REALLY well and knows to keep their mouth shut about it or just don't sell and DON'T say a word about making it to anyone. Definitely DO NOT put bumper stickers on your truck bragging about how you are burning home brew biodiesel. The IRS, EPA, state and local agencies all like to get their hooks into the tax revenue.
