I am currently in the market for my first diesel. I have been trying to give the different brands a fair chance since I know nothing about them (current ride is a Toyota Tundra). I was able to spend a weekend driving a 2015 Ford 6.7 PS, while I liked it I was completely blown away. I am going to be test driving a ram 2500 this coming weekend. I love the Ram styling and interior (Laramie) however every person I know or have talk to says that Ram quality is complete garbage. They all say the engine is great but any other component is garbage. I was wondering how you guys felt about the quality of your truck? How would you compare it to Toyota, Ford, Chevy? I reali…

If you have a 13-18 2500 or 14-18 2500 you are probably aware of this recall for the steering linkage. The standard fix is to weld the adjustment nuts, something I won't let them do on my truck. I have been trying to get FCA to just replace the drag link with the updated one... to no avail. I recently learned the part number and have ordered the part and will submit for reimbursement. It's cheap too, $132 to my door. 68338342AB or 68338342AD So if any one else is in the same boat this is a better alternative to welding.

I have been having troubles with my ABS system. Originally i had both rear speed sensors being the fault. Replaced them with mopar originals reset the code all was well for a couple days. Then it came back. I can see the rpm on all 4 wheel sensors with my scanner. Sometimes the right rear wheel shows no speed than normal. I have had it show NA for all wheels while driving. I have had the scanner loose communications with the ABS as if it wasn't there. I have had it go out on its own & then it screws up the digital speedo only to set the code again & my speedo goes back to normal. This week i pulled it into my shop. I have a little farm with a nice shop t…

2012 3500 mega cab, I just did an engine swap, the truck was running before hand but knocking. Direct swap, and I have done numerous on these trucks but now turning on the key doesn't cycle the turbo actuator and I have no injector pulse. I've checked all fuses and relays and I know for sure I have no ground on the asd relay but I can't find a visual pinout for the ecm to know what circuit goes to what ecm pin. The truck has a replacement ecm that you can't read the numbers on. Any help would be appreciated.

Truck is my wife's 2011 3500. Lately I've noticed that the coolant temp never gets above the low 180's. Ambient today was in the 60's and driving it never got above 174. Truck has 80k miles and is bone stock. Possible stuck thermostat? Or something else? Heat blows nice and hot.

Installed a new radio head unit. The factory tailgate camera is working by manual selecting camera on unit. But the reverse is not triggering the camera. After further research i need to tap into a reverse trigger wire at the bcm but unable to locate the correct wire. Thanks

I just rebuilt a he351ve and wish I had taken pics of the center section before I cleaned it up. I got this turbo in 2016 from a diesel shop and supposedly the guy never changed his oil in 90k miles. This stuff was nasty but somehow the bearings weren’t too bad. Anyway, this is why we change oil regularly

I have a custom CAN bus device (particle photon + CAN transceiver) plugged into the IHS bus on a 2018 Ram 2500. I'm attempting to find the codes to preform actions like: door lock/unlock mirror retract/extend start/stop engine I see all kinds of codes come across the bus, but have not zeroed in on exactly which ones I need. Does anyone have access to documentation on what the IHS codes are that can share? My purpose is to make my own remote control system (particle electron) instead of paying XM Guardian $250 a year for it. I figured I own the vehicle so I should be able to make my own electronics to talk to. I also was ho…

I got a phone call from a guy I've done work for in the past (injectors and dual disc clutch). Call me up and lets me know that why he past me like I was standing still last night. He was coming from McCall, ID and already had the dash chiming at him for low battery voltage. The alternator failed he made it close to my place about 5 miles south of home. I went down snatched the batteries out brought them to the shop and used the big battery charger on them for an hour a piece at 40 Amps. Asked a friend to give me a ride back so I could install the batteries and get the truck to my house. No problem started up and got it moving down the pavement. Simple fix ju…

I'm looking at pulling the trigger on a RAM 3500 dualy, 2018 with 6.7 and the asin. I have a 2002 2500 with 5.9 5 speed I have no plans of getting rid of. My reason for posting is just some general feedback on folks who might have 2018 or earlier and/or general feedback on the 6.7, such as reliability, performance stock (I plan to keep this one all stock, for now), any experiences with this truck good / bad etc. Thanks in advance

So my friends son who does pipe lining work out east finally moved on from his 6.0 silverado which had been hacked on by just about every middle of nowhere "mechanic" and bought himself a 2018 Ram 3500 with the 6.7. I don't know much about this truck yet, will probably be a few months before I see it but I know he will be asking me for help with it eventually. I plan on talking to him soon, I was wondering if there was anything I should warn him about to get done or watch out for. This truck is going to get used and abused, his chevy can no longer be properly aligned due to some of his work related off road excursions. Is there anything you would suggest running in t…

Went up to visit my mom in Canada this last week. 1200 miles each way. Some mixed 55, 65, and 80 mph driving. I gotta say I am impressed with the truck. MPG is as follows for each mph according to the lie-o-meter, but I am inclined to think it is pretty close when I look at mileage vs gallons burnt. I didn't keep exact records, but I know I filled up ~2.5x each way. 55: 25 mpg 65: 22 mpg 80: 18 mpg SOOO much nicer than the 2nd gen, it chews through mileage with much less stress than my old truck.

Just had a local gent call me and want to tow in a 2012 Ram 6.7L truck with error codes and no start condition. After doing the key trick I found a list of error codes. P1CEF P0593 P0580 P0606 P0869 P0562 P0606 This is the exact order the codes came off the dash. I gave @Auto Computer Specialist a call and it going to be $500 to get that ECM fixed up.
