I was towing a trailer last night and noticed that my brake lights were not working. I've dug into it a little bit. Ive tested all the fuses and they're good. I've done continuity test on the brake switch and it is good. i have turn signals and 4 way flashers, but i don't have any brake lights. Any ideas?

  2. Hey all, need urgent help. It’s been awhile since I’ve posted which means things have been pretty good.. just got home and a few blocks away I saw a little blue smoke. Nothing at idle but saw a good amount of oil blew out the crank case vent, about to check oil level now as oil pressure was lower than normal at idle. I figure it got burned on the exhaust cuz the top valve cover had oil from I’m assuming the fan blowing oil everywhere. Freaking out because I’m supposed to be towing a 10k trailer on Wednesday. Gonna check vacuum lines and make sure none came disconnected and whatnot as well as check oil level. Oil is about to maybe hit 5k mark.

  3. My truck recently started having a intermittent loss of power, usually before the engine warms up. It also seems to be easier to stall while backing up a hill with a trailer. The check engine light never came on, but it did throw a P0216 and P0602 code. The first time I cleared the codes, there was an episode of intermittent power loss and both codes came back. The 2nd time I cleared the codes there was no power loss, and only the P0216 code came back. The truck is a 2001 5 speed. I replaced the VP-44 last year with a DAP pump and added a FASS lift pump. I currently have 15-17psi fuel pressure. The alternator is about a year old, and is a 16…

So I was finally able to make the time to install my 3 in 1 gauges from gloshift. Before you hate on gloshift, this was a gift from my daughter for Christmas. Took a little while to get it done, it was rather warm today (89°F / real feel was 95°F). I did get it finished though. I mounted the gauge in the supplied pod above the instrument cluster for easy viewing. The needle shows boost, in the small LCD screen is displays the exhaust gas temp and the fuel pressure.

Sorry if this has been discussed before but I tried searching and nothing came up. I hear the front wheel bearing humming so time to replace them. I've replaced them once already with Detroit Axle units so I'm wondering what brand everyone has had luck with?? '01 2wd abs with drums in the rear. Thanks for any input fellas & have a great weekend

HI all, I found info from MoparMan on puting the in the 5amp inline fuse to the blue wire of PCM for protection. I am trying to find more info in regards to putting in a similar protection fuse for the ECM and Vp44. Has anyone done something like this? Long story short both had died on me and have been replaced. I'm going to clean all my grounds etc. but would like extra protection. The W-T mod is on the urgent list of things to do as well (along with AC noice testing)- I found articles in regards to it and MoparMans video on AC testing. Is there a video on the W-T mod?

I was typing up this long lengthy post about how great y'all are and how I've fixed all my issues on my 1998.5 24v. Blah blah then I lost it some how. Y'all are great! Thank you for all the content. Long story long I had shifting issues. I did the W-T wiring, rebuilt PCM and ECM from Auto Computer Specialist (recommended), and had altenator rebuilt, timbo apps. Day two of the great fix my 150amp breaker tripped and left me with dead batteries. I followed the How to Test Your Altenator post and while testing the blue and green wire i noticed my green wire test lite lit up on both sides of battery terminal...hum short maybe, i continued the test and notice conti…

I have a 1999 dodge ram 3500 5 speed 2wd dually and my speedo randomly stopped working. I towed my camper 150 miles it worked the whole way to the campsite then the truck sat for a day and a half and the speedo randomly stopped working when we went for a drive. Also just a piece of information my abs light and brake light on the dash have never worked. I checked the 40amp abs fuse and it was fine. Any ideas what it could be? Just odd it randomly stopped after sitting. Could it be the sensor on the diff or wiring going to it or could there be another abs fuse that could be it?

  9. Ok Gang...I've got a for sure way to diagnose torque converter lock up issues where it lock and unlocks at about 45-50 MPH. I had a gent call me yesterday with this problem and he's replace both batteries, alternator and the APPS sensor. Attempted all the different wiring issues (adding ground, tinfoil etc.) nothing worked. Like I told him the truck ran 11 years without all this stuff and doesn't require any wiring change to make it work. What it needs is the damaged part to be replaced. So he's returned the wiring back to stock setup. Now I told him to unhook the alternator fuse and take it for a ride... Guess what... No problems! Even though he replaced the alternator it…

So i have a valair 550hp clutch in my nv4500 and i just did a burn out 1st through 4th cus it was wet out in my dually and i thought it was spinning in 4th but after i smelt a heavy smell of my clutch. This clutch only has like 15k miles max on it. Is this something i should be worried about. I only held it for like 3 or 4 seconds in Fourth befor i let off i just hope i didnt rewin it

So my truck is plagued with an overboost code. My quad shows 39psi regardless of throttle position. I have removed the Quad and will be sending it in for repair. I cleared the codes and put my Edge EZ back in and I get the same code. I replaced the Apps and Map last fall. I guess now I disconnect the EZ and run stock tuning to see if it continues? I can't get it smogged with this code hanging out.......

So i just did new head bolts this weekend on my truck. I got grade 12.9 allen head bolts and grade 12.9 washers off mcmaster carr for 84 bucks. The bolts are made in italy and seem like real good quality. I replaced my stock bolts one at a time front to back torquing the bolts to 120ft lbs each time i changed one. I used arp fastener lube and tried to remove as much oil from the holes under the valve cover that had oil in them. This is where i might have messed up by not getting all the oil out of the holes. So 90 percent of the bolts torqued down just fine but some seemed to have a little slip like they would spin slightly more before clicking . Possibly due to oil on …

  14. Starting back in the beginning of 2023 winter I opted to play with 200 degree Cummins thermostat from a 6.7L Cummins. Now as winter got to the coldest of minus 7 degrees I was happy to keep a warm cab and engine. I watched over the winter time and as I was able to keep temps above 80 degrees in the intake manifold (IAT) I noticed an improvement in MPGs because cold air does rob the engine of ignition quality and more heat energy is not wasted to the coolant jacket. Now fast forward to now. I made a trip to Lewiston ID for monthly supplies and food. Still running a 200 degree thermostat in 90 degree weather. This is a Gates Thermostat and seems to hold steady …

Recently purchased a 2002 ho truck and got a good deal because the motor isn’t happy ( knocking and crazy blow by). To solve this problem I’ve purchased a 2000 model engine. Forgive me I am learning these 24s I’m used to 12 valves. I know now that there’s the two sub generations 98.5-00 and 01-02 and they don’t interchange very well. My main question is am I going to run into problems with the swap even with swapping the pcm/ecm/ engine harness ? Got a steal of the 2000 engine everything for 800$ so I really want to make this work .

There doesn't appear to be link for a 2000 FSM. So do I use the 99 or the 01?

Hey guys, I need some help troubleshooting my truck. I’m gone for weeks at a time for work so when I leave I disconnect my passenger side battery, leave the drivers side on because it’s shot anyway. When I came home from work I connected the passenger side battery and my fass started running like the key was on. I went in the truck and the gauge cluster was powered on as well. When I put the key in and turned the Ignition on, the wait to start light didn’t come on, tried to start it and crank no start. I turned the key off and the fass kept running and the cluster stayed powered up. Only way I can get the truck to start is if I disconnect the batteries, and put only the p…

For all of you that use a Big Honkin' Air Filter like myself. While back I quit putting the air filter minder in the head of the filter, well I went a bit too long on this filter even though the restriction is minimal really didn't see any huge temp difference per se. Now changing to fresh BHAF supplied by @dieselautopower and got it installed. Very small changes in temperature did occur. Coolant is down about 3 degrees, engine oil temperature is down about 3 degrees as well. Now EGTs really didnt change a lot but cruise state seems a tad cooler hard telling. Now as for MPG just making the trip down for my chemo appt. I only used 1/8 of fuel for 125 mile trip. …

  19. On my 01 Cummins it only has code P0216. I turned off my Edge Comp box and cleared the code and test drove it. It was still lacking power when cold (not making boost), and it popped 0216 again. I wanted to rule out that the Comp Box maybe causing the issue. Would I need to actually unplug the Edge Comp box map sensor and plug the OEM harness to the map sensor and unplug the Edge tuner, instead of just turning it off, as a true bypass test to rule out the Edge Comp box causing the timing issue? The previous owner did tell me that he ran it low on fuel pressure from the lift pump once and changed the fuel filters on the FASS 165. Lift pump pressure …

  20. Quadzilla Adrenaline - Optimal Engine Temperatures for Efficiency Optimal Coolant Temperature - 190℉ Factory thermostats set to either 190℉ or 192℉ are fine and will perform satisfactorily for most Quadzilla Adrenaline owners. For the people up north, it's possible to see coolant temperatures drop out below 180℉ because of the natural efficiency of the 24V and at idle the Cummins ISB tends to run cooler. When coolant temperatures start dropping the thermodynamics of the engine will shed more of the heat of the burning fuel back into the excessively cold coolant jacket. Experimental 200℉ thermostat I've been running a 2012 6.7L 200℉ thermostat for the win…
