I posted this on another site and didn't receive any useful responses. I think that this group is more knowledgeable on the subject.I've been adding Stanadyne Lubricity Formula to my fuel. My mpg went up about .7 mpg after starting to use it. I've been using about 2.1 oz per 15 gallons.I also have Power Service that I haven't used yet and want to use up. Is there a problem with using both the Stanadyne and Power Service or would this not be recommended? If both were used would the quantity of each be split in half?Regards, cessna

Hi All,First post after read much information here "great site".Any-way I have new to me 03 mega cab R3500 4x4 dually 5.9L.While traveling at around 50 mph and just maintain a speed, it feels like the engine fuels then doesn't fuel ever so lightly. I hear the engine dieseling a bit then quiets then dieseling and so one. The turbo spools up a little and doesn't. If I punch it for a bit, the engine will come out of it. I noticed it does not do it all the time! Thanks

Truck is my dads 09. He's not in good shape health wise so I've been running the truck the last week or two getting it ready to sell. The EGR's been unplugged for a few years and has helped a lot, but I plugged it back in so the CEL would go away before I list it and it did as usual and has been out for a few days. Today I got a CEL for a 245A code, something to do with turbo solenoid voltage. I cleared it and it stayed out for now, but it's only been 15 mi. or so. Any idea what it means and what to look for? Reminds me again why I refuse to get rid of my 99

Stuffed the tank full this afternoon. 31.3xx gallons with 635.xx miles on the tanks of fuel.Came out to 20.1x MPG!!!Just ordered filters............oil(OEM), fuel(OEM+FF5320), OEM air filter, and a crankcase filter from Geno's Garage. For me it's cheaper to pay the shipping from ONE PLACE, rather than drive around finding these items.I'm almost tempted not to change anything..................as I've not had a tank of fuel average under 20mpg since late winter/early spring!!! But it needs to be done...............and I normally do it now; just a few weeks before my annual hunting trip to NoDak!!!Just bragging a bit.................not saying!!!!

Any of you 3G truck owners run LED headlight bulbs? If so, what's your recommendation, as to brands,, etc? I put new headlight housings in my 07, but the new halogen 55/60s just seem dull, still. I put Win Power H7s in my wife's GLK350 and they are insanely good in those housings.. Perfect OEM beam, and bright enough to make flowers bloom at midnight But hers are single beams, whereas the 9008/H13 are dual beam. Interwebs says Morimotos, but I'm not dropping $140 on a pair of bulbs, no way - no how.

I have read several threads on removal of the Silencer Ring from the turbo intake. But this seems to be making it sound louder when ramping up for the drivers interest. If you remove the ring, will this increase:* the air intake volume ? * add more HP ? * increase MPG ? * anything besides increasing noise ?Has anyone ever try this and documented what changes happen ? Or is it only to increase the sound of the turbo ramping up ?

Hello,So it may be time soon to replace my 180K stock clutch. I just replaced master and slave hydraulics. This is on a 03 2500 with NV5600. I have been looking at SB as my replacement. Here is a question from those that have run them and what they experienced. I tow about 10k - 19K during the summer with a dump trailer, hauling large 8x4 hay bales and equipment. The stock as done just fine during all this hauling but I dont try to drive it like it was not loaded either. The rest of the year/winter, I use it as a daily driver to work and back home. Wife drives the rig so I need something that is not hard on the knee or engages aggressively either. Want to still drive off …

Hello Everyone, What a wonderful forum this is very helpful and informative. Looking for some input on an oil consumption issue I with a 2007 5.9. I bought the truck used with 160,000 miles on it. At first there were no issues at start or running except it used about 1 quart of oil per 500 miles. Lately though on cold start I noticed a flutter for the first 5 - 10 seconds then it runs fine again. The exhaust and input side of the turbo are dry with no evidence of an oil leak. Also, there are no oil leaks from anywhere on the engine so the oil is definitely going out the exhaust either by the rings or from a valve seal leak. Does anyone have experience with bad …

Have had the issue of my brake lites staying on when the engine was hot in warm weather. Has been going on for about 3 years or more and I always thought it was due to a misadjusted or sticky switch. I even had intermittent cruise control kicking out on its own so I thought this was the problem. Tried to adjust switch @ brake pedal but there is really no adjustment on a 3rd gen other than maybe bend the bracket which is really thick. Long story short I always had to pull upon the brake pedal when I shut the pickup off to get the lites to go out just became a habit but when my wife and I go to the water she does the trailering and I am on the boat and have to h…

This item is the real deal!!! :thumbsup With all the front end work I had done, along with the new tires, and then the new shocks.......my truck drove real, real good!!!! However, with the BD Steering Box Stabilizer it drives a whole lot better. Almost sports car like in response!!!! This should be an OEM item IMHO!!! :smart :smart

K I lately I have been extremely considering adding the 2 stroke oil in with my diesel fuel... I have always ran power service without any problems but lately all I have heard about is this 2 stroke oil..... so..... from what i gather it has to be ashless, and to use tcw-3....right? now I will most likely be using the wal-mart brand because of its availibilty everywhere you go..... so am i to lazy to measure but have been told that a gallon of it should last me 4 full tanks fulls.......if I am either on the right or wrong track please let me know

My 05 is still doing ok I guess as long as I dont pull with it, but there will come a point when I start using it more. When I first got it 2012 it had 32k on it and burnt fluid, I flushed it several times, put deep pan on and replaced pressure switch and larger solenoid, adjust bands. Just dont trust it, who makes a good auto trans? The most power I plan to do is maybe 75 hp injectors.

I'm posting this for one of my best Buds.He drives the '03 with now 350,000+ miles on that I often refer to in some of my posts.Anyhow; he called up today with a question……………………..He told me while driving yesterday that the caps on the passenger side battery blew off. He found this out after getting home of course. He pulled out his tester, and that one registered 18+ volts while running and the drivers side registered 14.1 or so. Batteries are less than 2 years old.He picked up a new alternator and installed it and at the same time cleaned all battery terminals and cable ends…………………….he didn't clean the battery ground……………………I asked!!! Same results when testing the a…

I have a 2006 DRW quadcab with the 48re tranny in it. I bought the truck from used car dealer in town and he had no idea of the history of it. The truck was obviously used to pull a lot because it's equipped with a gooseneck ball mount and had a fifth wheel hitch as well as air springs in it at one time. Other mods that were removed by the PO are a boost gauge and egt gauge (the boost sensor is still there with about an inch of hose with a screw in it and there are two non-factory holes in the manifold right where an egt probe would have been). Anyway, I've had it about a year now and got a Mini Maxx tuner on it so I'm wondering how to tell if the tranny was modded b…

OK so I understand that high rail pressure means the engine is not under load requiring huge amounts of fuel, add that to rpms, plus mph at any given time equates to xx.x mpg per the algorithem in the ECM.But high did it get 4mpg off? I've been zeroing it out at fill up and it seems to be doing better. I'll be checking it in the next day or so by hand calculation when I fill up. My hand calculations have shown so far that I'm getting just over 18mpg running 75-80mph and a bit over 14 when towing the goose neck 65-70mph, with some local running around thrown in to skew the numbers a bit. But still not bad IMO. But how can the lie-o-meter say I'm getting 18-22mpg when I'm g…
