  2. Hello Everyone, What a wonderful forum this is very helpful and informative. Looking for some input on an oil consumption issue I with a 2007 5.9. I bought the truck used with 160,000 miles on it. At first there were no issues at start or running except it used about 1 quart of oil per 500 miles. Lately though on cold start I noticed a flutter for the first 5 - 10 seconds then it runs fine again. The exhaust and input side of the turbo are dry with no evidence of an oil leak. Also, there are no oil leaks from anywhere on the engine so the oil is definitely going out the exhaust either by the rings or from a valve seal leak. Does anyone have experience with bad …

Hello All. Thanks in advance for any input. I can even handle take it to a professional comments but I just don't give up easy. I'm new to the diesel world for just a year now. I have a 2008 dodge 6.7 for myself but the truck I am working on is my girlfriends 2007 dodge 5.9 4 x 4 four door 3500. She was hauling a light load and it starting running rough and died. Restarted and ran fine then 30 minutes later it died and hasn't started since. Since boyfriend duties require me to try here I am in this pickle. Now for what I've done. tested lift pump output, injection pump output, injector return flow, and verified fuel psi vs fuel setpoint while cranking and all see…

I saw somewhere on one of the Dodge/Cummins forums that it was possible to modify your air dam by attaching a Gen 2 air dam to the Gen 3 air dam. I kind of liked the look of the deeper air dam so I thought I would look into it and see if I could make it work. The air dam also has a purpose of moving air down under the truck to help reduce the drag on the underside of the carriage (thereby helping mpg's on the truck). Now since I also have a Gen 2 vehicle it was pretty easy to measure things and evaluate whether it would fit well enough that I could be happy with it. I took a few pictures along the way to document what I saw as I made the mod and what it looks…

All the gauges on my dash are not working. I went 400 miles yesterday and only 2.9 miles were registered on the odometer. Some times the speedo and tack will work for a couple seconds together then shut off. The gas gauge comes on for a couple seconds once in a while. the check engine light is always on when the gauges are not working. No codes. The dash originally started having problems with the ABS light coming on and off. None of the gauges work now.

so i know my truck came with 134, but i'm getting ready to reseal the system, and well. why couldn't i run r12? i have a few cases of it. i do have the 134 as well. just wondered why i couldn't run the r12. i does cool faster and colder. thoughts?? you can convert the r12 system to 134 just by the fittings on the hoses. so the internals should be capable of running the r12...

I have an 04.5 ram with this exh. in place....CAT back [for now at least] all 4'' piping w/ 24'' flo-pro strait through muffler & pipe exits at back, right side. At 1800 to 2300 rpms, at med+ throttle i have drone! At idle, the exh. has a full, throaty sound, plenty noise for me. expecily when backed up to a building where sound bounces off. The under hood noise is much better then 2nd gen, but exh. [while diff.] is still THERE if wanted to be! Tell me what works for you! i have thought about adding the 2nd muffler or adding a 'twister' . I dont know how much the CAT helps [if at all] the CAT could be replaced w/ a twister....... I'M ALL EYES!!!!! …

Hello guys and gals, as the title states I have gone through 2 pressure solinoids in the last 2 mos. I had my transmission fully built to handle more power about 4 mos ago, as soon as I got it back I threw in a new smarty touch, it ran great for about 3 mos and then I lost 1st and 2nd gear. Transmission was still under warranty so they checked it and replaced the pressure solinoid, problem solved ...temporarily at least... about a month later I am now having the same issue, no 1st or second gear. I can take it back to them and I'm sure they will replace it again at no cost but I am trying to figure out what could be the root of this repetative issue before going back to …

Just got done with this chore about an hour ago. Discovered the OEM was shot yesterday. Had some time yesterday; so I asked the neighbor to come over and lend a hand so I could check ball joints and tie rod ends etc. Jack one side up with the floor jack, neighbor on the 4 ft. bar under the wheel drivers side lifting and releasing..................essentially no movement I could see or feel. Then on the same side, neighbor grabs wheel and 3 and 9 o'clock and tries turning wheel back and forth. No movement at tie rod end, but the the drag link end had 5/16" at least of movement, and the rubber boot was split. We did the same on the other side, and the results wer…

Well, I am almost done replacing all the door in the Hvac of my 3rd gen Dodge truck with the heater treater replacements. I cannot remember where this wire in the picture below goes. I don't have a Chilton's manual so I cant look it up. Can someone please identity this wire and tell me where it goes? Picture of the wire I lifted from another.

Let me start from the beginning. Bought the truck 3 years ago with 77,000 miles on it. Now approx. 130,000. Six months ago (When all my problems started) Some jack#&! sole the NOx canister off my truck. truck ran fine with awsome fuel mileage gain. Of course the check engine light came on. No biggy. I'll deal with it. Then an upper console message. DPF full/ power reduced/ see dealer. Truck ran fine except pulling my trailer down the highway when I would hit a hill as the truck would downshift it would lose power. ( My truck is used every day for our business, and never leaves the house without a trailer hooked to it.) I figured the exhaust can wait until vacation tim…

Just got done changing out all the fluids on my truck. Diffs, tranny, transfer case, coolant, power steering, blinker and engine oil. It's been a consensus that one should overfill the NV5600 tranny by a quart for as long as I can remember. In the service manual, it says that the tranny will hold 9.5 pints, or 4.75 quarts. If you drain and refill on level ground until the fluid runs out the top bolt hole of the PTO cover, you'll likely only get about 4-4.25 quarts back in. Well when I drained mine, I let her drain over night on level ground. Only 5 quarts drained out. Could've sworn that I had more in there. Anyhow; when I refilled, this time I got 6.25 qu…

I just don't do enough easy driving to see it. This is my first tank without any towing since Feb and most of those towing miles are a 30' barn door.. I mean travel trailer. So I have to enjoy it while it lasts.

  16. I got the heater treater doors and took the dash apart. I am now ready to take out the HVAC box. The problem is..... I can't get the AC lines to come loose. I bought the plastic fuel line/AC disconnect tools and it's not comine loose. I went to the auto parts store again and bought a metal fuel line/AC disconnet tool, thinking It was thinner and would work better. Anyway, no luck with both disconnect tools. Is there a trick that I am missing.

  18. Time for a drive pressure gauge! I ordered a matching gauge [boost, 60psi] to the ones i have & bought some 1/4'' copper tubing & fittings to port into the manifold. the other end of the copper will attach to the poly boost tube that comes with the gauge. Two things i'm not sure of,..... do i need a soot filter?? [ah62id], your turbo article in tdr dosnt show a filter,.. does that work ok? i'll prob. end up with a simular setup......... The other thing, where is the ideal place to tap the manifold? THANKS!!

I posted a wanted in classifieds. But if you're like me you don't go there much. Looking for a set of center caps for 2003-2012 2500 or 3500 trucks. Not dually.
