I’d like to through this out for general thoughts. I just bought the wife a new pickup and they made such a big deal out of nitrogen in the tires instead of air. I have heard they have been doing this for a while and it’s supposed to benefit the vehicle owner. Now from what I’ve read, it keeps the tires cooler and helps lengthens the life of the tire since there is no moisture in the pressured vessel as with filling atmospheric air as over the many decades. Also helps prevent rust or corrosion on the inner wheel material not covered by the tire. Formula One drivers really benefit from this during a race. And the places where they fill or cap your tires off charge betwe…

I know there are the 3rd gen diagnostic codes listed here. What I'm wondering is where do I find the "procedures" involved for delving into these. You know, like the stealership would do................they pull up a code, and look into their book/'puter for the "proper" way to fix it. First check ABCDEFGH then I etc. That's all.

I have made new developments in this electrical issue. I pulled all the fuses on TIPM and tested the panel as I put them in one at a time. When testing B+ from ECM to fuse 42(one side) I got power coming from ECM to test light when I plugged fuse 6 and 11. Which means a short somewhere but where? I've looked over these wires a million times and re did the grounds til shiny. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Well, heres an update on my injector issue. One of the good things about buying a truck that someone you know was the last owner is that when you text them about your problem they call you and say, " you know, the truck did something weird one time and you might want to check.............." So what I was told to check was the fuel pressure sensor connection. Unplug it and plug it back in. I also blew in it for good measure. And wouldn't you know it, the truck has been starting good the last 6 days. Knock on wood, but it looks like it wasn't injectors after all.

I have a 04.5 ctd and was wondering about the "Big Honkin Air Filter". I currently have an Air Aid CAI which I thought was good until I pulled the intake hose off of the turbo and looked like my turbo has taken in some dirt . My filter stays clean, at least on the outside, but are these lifetime filters junk? Does the BHAF do a better job of filtration? What is the price tag of the BGAF and how long do they last? Do these filters fit directly to the intake hose I already have? Any help appreciatated... Mike

Help!! So after work today I put new shocks on the truck, after I had finished I started it to take it for a test drive, and while talking to my brother the truck hiccuped then died. I tried to re start it but it will only crank over (with no codes). I then opened up the filter canister and it was dry. Also my truck doesn't have the canister mounted lift pump. It got dark too quick but tomorrow I will check to make sure that I didn't bump any wiring connections when installing the shocks, but other than that what are you guys thinking lift pump??Thanks for any help!

As you know I currently have a 98.5 24 v quad cab 3500! Well June 15, a dang deer hit the right side of the bed! It caved in the bed and busted the fiberglass dually fender! The insurance company came out looked at said there was 6400 bucks worth of damage done to the truck, so they are in the process of totalling the truck out! Roughly speaking the blue book value of the truck is $7500 less $1000 deductible! So I'm trying to figure out whether to keep the truck, or just take the money and upgrade to a newer true 4 door quadcab dually! I don't know what year to leans toward, although today I found an 07 3500 4 door cab/chassis with flat bed, not running with 315k on it fo…

After looking around here and elsewhere, I still haven't been able to determine when or if our trucks were first designed to run on the ULSD. But....maybe I just missed that little piece of info. ;)

So this was going to be my only mod this year, until I read about the 6.7 harmonic damper. Anyhow, I truly think I am about done with power mods at this point, thou I have said that before. I will be playing with the Smarty UDC, and possibly going to a Smarty Sr but nothing crazy. Anyhow.. I purchased a GDP Air Boss and it's awaiting install. It really is a pretty piece of equipment! This mod is supposed to improve airflow thru the intake manifold, which helps spool (not really an issue with a BB charger) and EGT's. I don't have an EGT problem persay, but wouldn't mind a slight reduction when towing at 6K feet plus, and with the new TT being 2-3K lbs heavier I am going to…

After reviewing around 1,000 posts on 5 different forums, I have come up empty on how to manually activate the high idle function on a Manual, 2003, HO truck. The stock “sensor driven” high idle is there, but no on has found a way to make it come on when desired. (It works automatically when the temperature is cold enough.) One person has designed and demonstrated how to do it on a Gen 2 truck, but not on a 2003. The Gen 2 solution was to lie to the ECM. There was only a two wire sensor in the Gen Two 24 valve trucks, providing intake air temperature to the ECM. Moparman73 designed a fix involving two switches and a splice into the existing wiring (see following url:…

Not sure how many of you on this forum are using UDC, if any, but...Here is a timing calculator I created for use with Smarty's UDC. The file is not designed by, nor endorsed, by MADS. It's use is purely at your own risk. I assume no responsibility for its use. Okay, onto the file. I built this over the last 6-8 months and have refined it, and checked it's accuracy enough to share. I have had several people test it and all appears good. This is a good tool for tuning, and may not be the final answer for your tune, but is certainly a good start. It's data is only good as the data you feed it, so be accurate. Please let me know if you have any issues with it. I tried t…

Kinda quiet around here!! I was gonna save this post until after the install, but what the heck!!! Taking the girl(my truck) in to have the SB Con OFE installed tomorrow. Can't wait to see how much difference there is between it and the stocker. I've slipped the stocker a few times, so I've been judicious on how I lay into the throttle the last 3-4 months. This one is supposed to be good to hold 450hp and 1000ft.lbs.!!!! B) :thumbsup That's more than I plan on modding, plus the fact that this clutch is made especially for those that tow a lot. I think I fall into that catagory!!!! LOL Hopefully there are no complications with the install and I'll be able to give a re…
