OK so about a year ago I experienced a vibration from the blower motor. Dropped the motor and inside the fan basket there was a bunch of insulation. This sort of concerned me since I couldn't figure out where it came from but problem solved. So last Saturday I took the truck out, turned the AC on and darn if that vibration wasn't back again. Didn't think much into it, figured something fell down in there, easy fix. Now mind you my truck is babied beyond belief and only gets driven on the weekends. So I had to tow a trailer yesterday for a friend and when I opened my door I about died, and judging by the odor something had died. Did take me long to zero in on the location …

  2. What's you guys' thoughts on brands, Curt vs B&W? They both seem to have same class weight (7500TW, 30K Total). the B&W looks to be built a little heavier, but I've never laid physical eyes on a Curt setup, so I can't really speak to them. From what I'm seeing, the Curt is about 75-100$ cheaper, on average. Thoughts?

Hello All. Thanks in advance for any input. I can even handle take it to a professional comments but I just don't give up easy. I'm new to the diesel world for just a year now. I have a 2008 dodge 6.7 for myself but the truck I am working on is my girlfriends 2007 dodge 5.9 4 x 4 four door 3500. She was hauling a light load and it starting running rough and died. Restarted and ran fine then 30 minutes later it died and hasn't started since. Since boyfriend duties require me to try here I am in this pickle. Now for what I've done. tested lift pump output, injection pump output, injector return flow, and verified fuel psi vs fuel setpoint while cranking and all see…

  4. My neighbor that lives across the road from my family's ranch on the mountain, has a 2007.5 Cummins 6.7 2500 4x4 pickup that I just installed a brand new Clutch, flywheel and hydraulics in it. A while back he had a different 07.5 2500 Cummins that had fog lights from the factory. He swapped the front bumper assemblies, and swapped in the headlight switch with the fog light function. He can't get the fog lights to come on. I just went into his BCM and turned the fog light functionality on, but when I press the headlight knob in to turn on the fog lights, they still don't come on. The fog lights worked when the setup was on the other 07.5 pickup. …

How do I correctly identify which transmission is in my truck? I am not sure if it is a 47re or a 48re. The truck is the one in my signature. Production date= 1-03. codes in glove box = DGA and DG8.

  9. Replacing injectors on a CR engine isn't much different that changing injectors on a 24V. There is a few differences but the process is the same. First you need to make sure the fuel rail area is clean. Best to take a power washer and blow all the crud and dirt off the fuel rail side of the head. Remove the intake horn and grid heater. Pack a few rags in the intake to prevent anything from falling in by chance. Now you need to remove the fuel rail and all the connecting lines to the head. It will come out in one piece with the rail and the lines attached. Be aware the overflow valve has a banjo and sealing washers on top and bottom. …

  10. Some very interesting HPCR Injector Facts High Pressure Common Rail Injectors The clearance between the injector needle and the guidance is 2µm. 2µm ? =.0000787 or rounded UP 8/10,000ths of an inch. A VERY tight tolerance. By design, we need this needle to open & close (lift & lower) with the alignment as correctly as possible, to insure the male conical tip of the needle correctly aligns with the female conical seat, to insure proper opening & closing events. At 2000 rpm this opening & closing event is completed 2000 times every minute, including the pilot and main injection events. At 3000 rpm, 3000 times every minute & @ 4000 rpm…

  12. I have been contemplating the installation of an OnBoard Air system (on my '05 CTD) for quite some time. I wanted to install a PacBrake (which needs air to operate), also I wanted to have a couple of quick connect couplers mounted on my truck so I can air up tires etc. when needed. I also have an air horn that is just begging to be installed on my truck. Doing some research I found there are dozens of different compressor systems. You can easily spend way north of a couple 'G' notes on some systems but my wants were simple enough that I didn't think I needed to get too fancy. I didn't want to install the system in the bed of the truck because I sometimes c…

Alright guys i need some advice. My 05 has a 4.5 lift on it and the when I turn it creeks and clunks pretty bad. I had my whole steering gear box replaced years ago when it was still covered on the warranty. I think the gear box is making a little noise again not as bad as it was when I replaced it. The funny thing is it does it worse when the humidity is high anyways I want to just put all new stuff in like ball joints etc and of course I would love to get all Carli suspension but it is really expensive. So should I just replace it all with new stock or buy lets say the carli suspension upgrades piece by piece to have top quality parts. Are they any other top quality ma…

so my 08 has always puffed a white puff at first start up of the day. kinda looks like an older 350 that has leaking valve guides. it goes away like 1/2 second later. So this morning the boy and i were headed to go moto, temp was high teen low 20's the first 15 miles was flat ground, truck up to temp. then the decent happens, it's about 20 miles long. i notice out the tail pip every now and then white smoke. puff here puff there. sometimes a longer trail. 300 yards long. has to be in the shadow to see it. in the morning sun it's non detectable. so my thought was the cold air temp maybe? or is it time to buy injectors? do i have to have a dealer set the codes? or…

Twas board the other day, and clicked onto the Cooper Tire website. I found out they have a new tire size in the Discoverer ATR style in 17" rim sizes...................LT275/70 17E. Just a bit taller and wider for the folks that don't want the "mexican" style stupid wide tires. I wish Cooper made a LT255/80 17E or even a LT255/85 17E tire. I know all you young "pups" like the "fat and wide" tires, but if you talk to anyone that makes a "living" off road: and not just recreationally, you'd know that the un-cool pizza cutter style tires rule!!!! Hence my wish for the tire sizes I mentioned in this paragraph!!!:2cents:

Made a long weekend road trip this past Friday until today. I had to go to Beardstown, IL to pick up a rifle that I won in a DU raffle 2 weeks ago. From there I went to Springfield, IL to stay the night with friends and hang out for a while Saturday morning. Late Saturday morning I left Springfield for Benton, KY to see the puppies that my dog sired. Spent Saturday night in Benton and left for home about 5:00PM Sunday evening after spending the day with the pups and hanging out with Doug, the owner of the dam that had the pups. I left my house about 10:00AM on Friday with about a half tank of fuel and drove the 60 miles down to my folks house to leave my dog with the…

Hello all, ive tried searching for articles but am new here. I have a buddys truck, 2005 2500 6 speed. Cluster and overhead console shows no bus and have no gauges. No blinkers or high beams. Scanned and has codes P1652 and P2509. Truck will start and run just fine. Have cleaned and check battery connections, also cleaned connections at ECM. I need some wiring diagrams so i can chase wires if that is available. I appreciate all the information on here and all the help!
