Had some worries about coming down, with that much weight but it was a non-issue. Went up fine too. I always loved the power of the Cummins, but the truck gets kudos as well.

On my 04.5 I've been having some coolant and trans temp issues. Coolant temps go up to about 200-210 and trans temps get to about 160-175. I've replaced the water pump,180 degree thermostat, a new fan clutch and the trans temp is reading from the pan. I know the trans temps aren't bad but it normally doesn't get above 150-155 on a 90+ degree day. Coolant on the other hand never got above 180 unless i was working the truck hard. After a 15-20 min drive is when things start to heat up, stays there for a few minutes and then creeps slowly back to normal. And this is with highway, city and or just idling in neutral. Doesn't matter. I don't have any coolant or trans fluid mixi…

I've been experiencing something, that I think is new........................or else I've never really noticed it before. When I start my truck, and it's Winter here now....................I let the grid heaters do their thing. Then start my truck.................always starts. Seems like the "charge gauge" on the dash is taking a longer than normal time to come back. I don't even recall what is normal time for it. Here's the thing about my posting this though....................if I start to drive BEFORE the charge gauge comes back, I will get the ABS and Brake light flash on the dash along with the single chime. If I wait until the charge g…

So i want to start doing my own tunes. anyone here have a direction for me? what's needed. i have EFI from anarchy right now, it's good, by all means it's great. but well i'm a tinkerer. so i'd like to delve into writing some tunes. do i get a base file? like stock tuning? do i get a flashscan v2? MM3? smarty? I've tried reading as much as i can from EFI and MM3 but none really answer my questions as what i need to write my own tunes.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-iPCb-3cqU Here is something I highly suggest no one does to their truck a good way to do damage to the engine. When he pouring Seafoam in you can hear the pre-ignition knock... OUCH!

That's what I'm approaching now!!! I've officially got about 130 miles to go before a "full" 80,000 miles without a complete oil change, but I thought I be pro-active and tell y'all prior!!!!!:cool:I plan on taking an oil sample and sending it to Blackstone for analysis at the next scheduled TP change out. That'll be just over the 80k mark, but close enough. I'll post the results when I get them. Those "butt wipe" filters work well!!!

I ordered the 4 door kit today.........$265.00 delivered.:spend: My temp dial/blend door is not working so well, and I don't think my recirculation door is working either. Oh well!! Gotta wait for some warmer weather to tackle this though.

I for the life of me can't figure out how to update my old smarty jr from the Madds web site.I have downloaded the files and 7zip "about 10 times and I don't have a clue what I am looking at" and have plugged in my smarty to my pc and it shows a popup stating the drivers are installed and it goes away and I get nothing but now what?I get no prompts or nothing, what do I do? Do I run the files or save them? I always save them. Am I supposed to download all 4 tool files on the site, I just picked the newest one date wise?:think:The site gives a good breakdown of what to do if you have windows xp but I have windows 7 and it just dead ends me at every turn.I went through this…

So, driving along in my 04 all good right? no odd noises or anything. then out of nowhere the belt went kabooie, the idler pully had locked up, and well came apart at the bearing, so a luck call to a napa and parts delivered, i have a new pully, belt, crank position sensor on there way to me on the side of the road. and a massive oil leak. so now that i'm home, and a well lubed underside of my truck, i'm wondering what could be leaking. and how hard it is to take the fornt of the truck apart to replace said seals. i know youre gonna say where is the leak coming from,, i have no idea. cant tell, when i clenaed it and ran the truck the fan blows oil everwhere…

Without me in it, full fuel, and normal tool box goodies she is 8,000 (4800/3200). We went for a drive in the mountains this weekend, and in addition to my normal stuff had the winch installed, little bit of fire wood, some camp chairs, cooler and the whole fam (me, wife, 3 kids 430 lbs) we were 9,040 (5240/3800) leaving town with a full tank. It amazes me how easy the front axle is to go over GAWR (5200 lbs) on without a trailer or big load in the bed. Light loading the truck makes the front axle very heavy!

Left last Friday early in the AM heading to SEMO to try and shoot some snow geese. There were others going, so we caravanned in two vehicles…………..one was mine. About 1/3 of the way down, it starts snowing. Fifteen minutes later, it's really snowing. Another fifteen minutes later, and the interstate is essentially one lane. The snow started North of Bloomington, IL and finally petered out about halfway between Springfield, IL and St. Louis, MO. Between Bloomington and Springfield was a nightmare. Must have seen 30 cars drive off the road!!! But that's not the "ordeal"!!! Just North of Springfield, my truck starts getting a real touchy throttle. I'm running…

Replaced the OEM one yesterday afternoon with a new one from AutoZone. I tell you; nothing lasts anymore, only 226,xxx miles/11years and this thing craps out on me!! Weep hole was plugged with dirt/**** etc. The rubber O-ring was broken thru in one spot once I got her out. Don't know if I tore it removing it though; as I had to take a wood dowel and place it on the water pump to break it free from the block. I didn't wack it hard, just tapped to break the 11 year old dirt seal on the thing. Once I saw that it moved from the block, it came out easily. Cleaned up the mounting area, put a very light coat of grease on the O-ring, and re-installed. I …

Hello all who read this. Sorry for it being such a long read. I have an 08 6.7 2500 4X4 at 448,000 miles standard shift. I am almost stock as in I did a cal delete with the smarty race me pro. I keep it set at the 0 setting for fuel economy and that has worked out well. I went with a dual disc clutch when the stocker failed and started to slip under load. I also am using a K&N air filter in the stock airbox. I use my truck for moving travel trailers and a daily driver. The truck developed a vibration some time ago. First thought it was the drive shafts had them rebuilt tires balanced. Used to it would only vibrate on the road now it vibrates sitting still. I can loo…

Well its the farmer boy again,.... i sold the 98.5 ram now NOW i got the $ & its time to service the trans. The pan gasket leaks The oil needing a change [dark] The shifting [more so under lite throttle] is vague/etc. feels like more then 3 'under drive' gears, not firm/sure. It seems the TC is extra loose, more rpms then 'i' think necessary to get moving. i hardly tow as of now. HERE IS WHAT I HAVE; SMARTY JR / AIR FLOW IMPROVEMENTS / i want to be able to 'sensibly' USE the power for driving [surprise!!] ,towing, & running down groundhogs. YOUR TURN!

I've got a 2005 Dodge Ram 3500. There is no error codes presently and rail pressure is a max of roughly 5,000 psi and at idle its start to surge dropping as low as 1,900 PSI on the rail. I know this is not enough rail pressure at all for normal operation. I've changed the FCA without any change in pressure or operation. Where to go next?

I have been wondering for years if the 6.7 Harmonic Damper would fit the 5.9. The 6.7 version is a viscous fluid damper, like a Fluidamper, but at about 1/2 the cost. Thanks to a TDR member I now know that they fit and what it takes. So my parts are on order, and I will update this thread when I get them installed. Benefits are a smoother motor, and generally just a better part. Initial reports are that the damping is as good as, or better, than an aftermaket damper. Low rpm lug noises are greatly diminished, as is gear roll-over on manuals with HD clutches (like the Con OFE on my truck). The swap requires the damper, fan pulley, and 4 bolts.Damper p/n 4933224 ~$227Fan Pu…

I just don't do enough easy driving to see it. This is my first tank without any towing since Feb and most of those towing miles are a 30' barn door.. I mean travel trailer. So I have to enjoy it while it lasts.

Hello to all, today I noticed a small puddle of coolant under the truck and when I opened the hood I found a pinhole in the core of the radiator. I am in the middle of a 6 day job and don't have much time between sleep and work for research. Does anyone know of any good quality & fitment radiator manufacturers ? Unfortunately i can not afford oem at the moment so I am looking for the best alternate option, thank you.
