The local ARCO near my work has just in the last month or so, put in a couple new pumps, one of them being a bio-diesel pump (the other is the ethanol blend). I haven't stopped for a fill up there yet, as it's about 10 cents higher than other diesel prices. I currently add in the 2 stroke oil for the extra lube, which of course increases the pump cost, probably by about nine or ten cents. Being relatively new to the diesel world, I'm unsure about whether or not to use it. I believe it's a 10% blend. Can anyone share pros and cons of using bio-diesel instead of regular diesel?

I'm getting my truck set up for a winch on a removable mount, that way I can use it in multiple applications. I have a qwadzilla programmer and instructions say disconnect the module before jumping the vehicle, or immediate damage will accrue. My question is, how do you guys use your winches. Or is it only quwadzilla that have that problem. I really don't want to unplug it every time I got to use the winch or even give someone a jump. Unless I'm thinking of this all wrong and it only apply when my truck is dead and someone is giving me a jump.

  3. I am new to Dodge diesels. I have a 2000 model and when you start up at below freezing, there is a howl like a banshee coming from under the hood. It changes sound when you either turn the steering wheel or step on the brakes????? Can anyone tell me what the heck is going on??? After 15 minutes driving, it gets to be less of a racket but as long as its below freezing, it continues. Oh, and the temperature guage never shows over about 130 degrees. I have a new 190 degree thermostat to install when it warms up outside.

trying to up my trans knowledge and figure out what effect different spring rates have on 2nd gear servo operation. There a 3 holes in the front servo bore. im assuming the oil comes in through the top hole and pushes down on the top of the piston pushing against spring tension causing the center pin to push down on the band strut and causing the band to tighten. question is where does the oil come from? where does it go? from there what causes the servo to release tension and what are the 2 bottom holes for? I’m assuming a stiffer spring would cause a reduction in pressure on the servo center pin… or does a sprin…

New here and can really use some help. This might not be the right section to post this but i figured id have better luck here. I just recently finished swapping a 24v into my ford and have been having a problem getting it to start. Before I say this my heater grid is not hooked up and i know its horrible on the motor but the truck will only start with a small hit of ether.Once its started it runs perfect. Idles great sounds smooth and revs up like it should.Once you shut it off and try to start it right back up it wont start. It wont even sputter or sound like its trying to start. The vp44 is brand new and was part of the problem originally when i first started trying to…

On my 01 Dodge I had an original lift pump , which I replaced with a Fass pump, this means there is no in-tank fuel pump, correct? The reason Im asking is some people are sayingIi have one, but it cant be with having a lift pump. Thanks guys!!

  8. Hi I recently purchased a 2001 3500 - 4x4 - 6 speed manual - quad cab. It has just under 98k miles on it. It has an edge tuner, banks 4" exhaust, Banks exhaust brake, pyrometer gauge and turbo boost gauge. It had a quite a bit of differed maintenance and a few needed repairs so I'm getting that all caught up first. The check engine light came on 2 weeks ago and I pulled P1693 + P1690. The truck was running but seemed a but sluggish at the time. I changed the fuel filter, which was really grungy. I cleared the codes and measured the fuel pressure which came in at just under 15 psi. I also changed the air filter. I drove…

So long story short truck has a nv4500 swap from an 01 with an 02 motor that had the auto. Truck is extremely gutless until around 2000 rpms. Once you hit that it’s a completely different truck. Has an air dog that keeps 18psi fuel pressure. Have cleaned both iat and map. Can free rev all day but once you put a load in it there is a very noticeable lack of power. Checked codes and only codes I am getting are for the auto trans.

I wasn't sure where to post this but I'll do it here. I had a guy tell me that a turbo charged engine will make more horse power with a muffler than with a straight pipe because a turbo works on back pressure. Is that true? I always thought it was volumn of air flowing thru it so therefore a freer flowing exhaust system would make more power. Can anybody clear this up?

1998.5 Dodge 3500 4.10 axle dually 19.5 Eagle alloy wheels with new custom steel inner rims, bead balanced tires. new drivelines trans. mount, rebuilt NV4500, DNE od. 3" leveling front 2" blocks rear. vibration in rear noticeable around 55 mph - 70 mph. enough to shake the mirrors, bed welds cracking at rear, and jingle anything in door pockets. I have visited several forums with same issue but never heard of a resolve for this. This is NOT FRONT END, TIRE, OR DRIVE LINE ISSUE. Seems like every time I read about someone having this exact same problem there are dozens of helpful people pointing at everything but the actual problem. I can take my hands off the wheel at 100 …

  12. Does anyone know a good place to get backing plates. I got a 2002 D80 single rear wheel, disc brakes. Both plates are rusted out and ready to fall off. Also would a newer baking plates from 2003 up fit 2002? If bolt pattern same then I could upgrade to bigger breaks in rear. Rotors, pads/shoes, caliper mounts. I did it to my front works great, just not sure if newer backing plates fit on older axels. If I could get original plates cheap then I would stick with the breaks I got.

  13. After reading a lot of advice on this and other forums, I decided that I needed to buy a fuel pressure gauge. Going on recommendations I’ve received, I ordered an inexpensive Westach gauge. When it arrived, I had a local garage install it. After they finished, I got in to drive the truck back home, a distance of 25 miles. About 7 miles out, the gauge went to zero. I pulled off, shut the engine off, and thought about it a bit. I started the engine back up and the gauge went back to around 11psi idle. It worked all the way home. The next day, when I started it up, the gauge was zero and stayed there. I called up the garage, and they said to bring it in Friday. I called up …

Well guys, it’s time to change the clutch in my 02 with 103k on it. It held all last summer until I got it to slip up hill in 6th with the quad on level 6. This truck is a summer driver/toy that I plan on building to around 500-550 hp. My brother has an 01 with this clutch https://www.dieselautopower.com/1999-2005-cummins-nv5600-13-x-1-375-single-disc-performance-replacement-ceramic that I’m also considering. However, i’ve read that a factory replacement pilot bushing may be a better option than the bearing. I’d hate to have the bearing fail and pull the trans again. Thoughts on this? Also as far as the flywheel goes, would my best option be to just get it resurfaced? Fir…

(Confusing) Parts book says I don't have a roll over ball. But service manual says I do have one. Service manual says roll over ball is on top of fuel module. But actually holding the fuel module in my hand, I think the roll over ball is inside near bottom near "inlet" filter. Or at least something that looks like pic in service manual is near bottom of fuel module. It is white and about size of ping pong ball. Do roll over balls go bad? If so I would like to replace now as fuel tank is out of truck right now. BUT!!!! and here is part I don't understand...the fuel is being sucked by a oversize fuel line added in 2005, and the line that ha…

So I've always had a little miss, I would noticed it with my edge jammers 150s with the comp on level 5 at WOT, not bad enough for me to worry about. But I upgraded to a quadzilla and also got 7x.013s , the miss turned into a very aggressive buck, it's literally breaking my dash. I notice that with the quad on level 0 it doesn't do it but with the quad on at any other level it does it, the more aggressive fueling the worse and it even does it on level 2 with less power than stock , as soon as I put it on level 0 I have no buck on my throttle. Any ideas would be appreciate it to help me tackle this some of the mods are SO pump, t3 66/74/…

Been trying to get this thing fixed, Went through the grounds and the 1488 and 522 codes keep coming back. Trying to trouble shoot from the book but seems it's just getting more confusing:mad: The book:1488= Auxiliary 5 volt sensor feed is sensed to be below an Acceptable limit. 5-volt Supply Voltage low. Sensor Supply voltage for E C M sensor is too low. book: 522= Oil pressure sending unit voltage input below the min acceptable voltage. Question? is there a sensor that supplies 5 volt's to the E C M?I thought the E C M did the 5 volt thing.:rolleyes:Thanks Ed.

  19. I have a 2001 Dodge 2500 5.9l that is stock other than a Predator mechanical fuel pump that I have recently put on. I have had the issue even before I've done any work to the truck of there being brief second of no power and then returning like nothing happened. I will be driving normal (Smooth accelerations) and every once in a while the truck will loose power and go back to normal in a matter of a second. I've always thought it was a problem with the stock lift pump on the side of the motor so i recently replaced it with a predator lift pump and haven't seen it run below 14psi. But even after I did so it still does this intermittent loss of power issue. It can vary from…

I have had a leaky oil pan gasket since buying my truck in 2014. It has basically leaked the exact same amount every oil change and has not gotten worse. Trying to decide when to take the time to fix. I know it’s not going to go away but need to have some encouragement because I have put it off and put it off because I don’t like horsing around with heavy engines and such! I do have a lazy streak! Lol.
