in the last 2 months this has happened 3 times. i am cruising along the freeway and bam...it fells like a miss...the truck lunges and then takes back off. it lasts just a split second. the first 2 times i had cruise control on. usually travel 60-65mph. it did it again after coming home from a hunting trip and i wasn't using the cruise and was going ~75mph. no CEL light, so autozone won't even try to read codes...just left me scatch'n my head.

Hey guys new member here! Buckle up this is gonna be a long one. Lol I have a 99 3500 with a 6speed swap. Bought the truck not running from an auction. First thing I noticed when trying to get running was it had a lift pump in the tank that looked factory ran never seen that before. Got truck running by just replacing batteries. Install a fass 100. My issue is now truck runs and idles good but I have no tach , power loss , and extended crank sometimes and a crank sensor fault. Replace crank sensor 3 times no change. So my thought was tone ring so I pulled starter and sensor to try and inspect tone ring. Here’s where it gets weird. I don’t see a tone ring? All I see throug…

I dont know? Any suggestions? Could the vp be getting weak? No codes either? --- Update to the previous post... we are at the trailer and I drove it home. I don't get it something's wrong though?? I am just curious as to what upgrades can support around what hp inrease. To my understanding doing just torque converter and valve body would be ok for a little more hp over stock but does anyone know about how much? Also, adding on the input and output shafts, how much more can you then add? My goal for now is a Smarty tuner and 75 horse injectors.

This might be a great test of the "There are no stupid questions" rule...but I have to ask.For those of you that have manual transmission, which gear to you start out in when under no real load? I've heard of people doing starting our in 1st and others starting out in 2nd but I would rather hear people's thoughts and get more of an understanding rather than burn up a clutch earlier than normal. Thanks for the input.

Where is it located on a 98.5 2500 Cummins????? i read online it was a 13/16 either mine is different or I’m looking at the wrong sensor the one I’m looking at is on the drivers side of the engine. my edge insight reads a temp of 300 all the time. (Unless its cause of my no bus problem). But everything else works as it should.

This is my first post to this forum. I have 98 24valve that had a fuel leak on top of the fuel filter heater. I fixed the fuel leak, reprimed the filter and fired for two seconds then died. I cracked the injector lines to get the air out of the lines and have fuel to all of the injectors. The truck will still not fire, acts like it wants to start but won't. I have good fuel pressure to the pump and no codes until switching relays. Codes 1688 and 1689 came up only after playing with relays. Any help would be appreciated.

I will be on the road for the next couple weeks and will be parking my truck in some undesirable spots and wanted some ideas as how to disable my truck so if someone was to get in it and broke the ignition they could not start it. I did try pulling the AOD relay but it still started but had no dash power. Is there any other relay or fuse that I could pull quick and easy even under the hood that will keep it from starting that would not be so obvious that a thief would notice. This is a emergency trip and I may not be able to respond but I will be able to read what was posted so don't be offended if you don't hear from me. Thank you ahead of time for any new ideas. Bob

I am also going to use the most reputable diesel performance shop around do the work. Does anybody have a ballpark what it costs for labor on a job like that? Thanks

A couple of odd problems bore their ugly heads today... I took my truck to get the tires rotated at lunch. After they pulled it out of the bay and handed me the key I couldn't get it to start to save my life. A month or two ago it gave me a fit starting, I pulled the clutch safety switch, cleaned it up and put it back and I haven't had an issues since. So, in the parking lot I reached up and pulled it out, tied the wires together and plugged that back in, but it still didn't start. I could hear a single click at the starter each time I turned the key. So, I am guessing the starter is bad. The guy at Les Schwab crawled under the truck (which is pretty great beca…

The new truck I bought (2002 in sig) turns out to have a bit different trans than the seller advertised... I still would have bought the truck, but I need to make some changes. The trans was the only non stock part I couldn't verify before the quick sale the guy needed. The trans was supposed to be a BD torque converter, billet input, street/towing valve body, and sun coast guts. I did some hunting and found the shop that did the trans. The builder was a good guy and honest with me. He also let me know that his 3 year 36k mi warranty also applied to me, since he knows the truck. What I got was a hardened cryo treated input shaft, CVC stock replacement converter, good se…

OK, I have had about enough of this air dog system. I just went to leave work and found that the in line fuse pretty much melted together. I'm thinking a short but the system itself doesn't sound right even when it's running. I replaced a fuse already only to have it finally melt down on me.:banghead: I'm open to suggestions. How is the manufactuer at replacing the unit if it's defective? Has anyone else had any similar problems? Lucky

drove home yesterday, 350 miles with no issues, everything normal. i knew i had run the tank pretty low but should have had a couple of gallons left. went to my son's house this am and backed down his driveway. while ideling the engine appearred to run out of gas. with a low tank and steep down hill grade i could not see it being something else. we got back later with 5 gallons of fuel, put it in the truck and bumped the starter. fuel pump ran but no fuel pressure. i figured the slope was enough that the fuel wasnot deep enough to get to the pmp. went back and got 5 more, no change. went back and got 5 more no change. we pulled the truck out of the drive way and got it po…
