  2. Ill start from the beginning...About a year ago driving one day i noticed my check gauge lite come on and the volt meter was dead. Truck still running, i shut down and restarted no issues and it was gone. I figured it to be a dirty connection to the battery. It went away for about a year.6 months ago it happened again, same thing, shut down restart and went away...3 months ago yet again. this time i left it running and i checked with my volt meter as i was close to home and found it to be at ~12v at the battery. i figured it to be the alternator on its way out.     99 CTD 4x4 Tell me about advantages of disconnecting the heater grid. Im in Calif, but will be moving back to Idaho or Washington state I disconnected the Heater grid wire eyelet right at the drivers side battery positive terminal. ( is that the proper place to disconnect?) Ran my truck to see if it would throw the checkengine light (nope} So tell me the advantages or extra safeguard I benefit by disconnecting the heater grid. I thought I heard disconnecting it helped protect the ECM or something like that ? ? ? Or what issues does the heater grid operating cause, if any ? I obviously draws amps/power

    So interesting development on truck. Lately after initial startup the truck lopes real bad and would probably stall unless I gave a little fuel. After some throttle she's fine and first return till next startup Thinking air leak or ECM issue at startup that levels off Leaning air leak Fuel psi is steady at 15 psi before and after

    I have a 00 dodge ram 2500 cummins with millions of problems. One of the issues I'm trying to address is the cold start. It looks like to me its blowing out a thick blue smoke. And when I drive down the road it dumps out for probably a good 2 mins. Then clears up and go backs to the black smoke. What could that be? I did pull a p0382 code.

    new to site and diesels. i have a 99 2500 4x4 , ctd with an edge ez. the truck has never died but will not start. lift pump shows 14 lb at hwy speed. chk engine lite came on but goes off every time i re-start it.auto zone check shows no codes. from other fourms it appears i could have a bad crank shaft pos. sensor. i have bleed the fuel lines and get plenty of flow but i do not know at what pressure. any help or suggestions would be appreciatted. thanks in advance

It is a work in progress right now, but hope to have it running soon. I also have a 1991 Harley Springer with a sidecar and a Can-Am Spyder.     My son has a 2002 Dodge 2500 Diesel has codes P0522 and P0336. The oil pressure switch, which is a single wire switch, has been replaced with a Cummins part and the PO336 code is troubling because there is no crank shaft sensor on a 2002. When you start the truck the instrument cluster shows no oil pressure and the tach is erratic for 8 seconds then drops off and the truck runs at a normal RPM but is in limp mode. ANY help would be appreciated.

    Rough surging idle when cold recently installed 100 horse injectors,fass 165 lift pump,s&b air intake,xdp exhaust manifold,5" mbrp exhaust, quadzilla tuner runs great under load just bouncing at idle when cold and when coasting run it for awhile and it smoothes out driving me crazy. Oh and I did replace apps sensor before I did any of the other upgrades,and reset after upgrades wonduring what else I can check or if anyone else has experienced this thanks for any help.

    I have a problem with my 01. First it started showing it was over heating (which it wasn’t), then I left to go pick up a load of calves and the truck started to sputter, and then died and wouldn’t start. Changed the Ecm and I can start it now. But the problem I’m having now is the truck will run real rough and after a few seconds after starting but any load it acts like it’s not getting fuel. The p0118 and p1693 codes are still there. And a few others come up now and then. Any ideas as this truck is my source of income

    my 2001 has been parked in a 45 degree shop for the last day and a half. i started it let in run for a couple min. i then drove it out side where its -11 let it run for a few more min. i then babied it down the road for a mile the next mile i gave it a little more throttle about the time it was going to switch into over drive it when from 2100 RPM and dropped down to around idle RPM then jumped up to about 1800 RPM... I then turned around went back home. I got back to shop put it in park and held it at 3000 then went to 3500 RPM ran fine. i then pulled on to road and put it to the floor ran great power was all there then drops to 1000 and back up to 1500 or so take my foo…

    Hello new here need some help my truck was driving fine no issues at all I stopped shut truck off for about 20 min then went to start truck to leave and would not start had no fuel at the valve on injector pump so I swapped the lift pump and bled system and truck fired right up drove around for a couple hours parked and went to start truck and same thing no fuel pressure and would not start I did notice the after first replacement of the lift pump Tac was inop any help would be appreciated have limited tools as I’m out of state working thank you in advance 00 2500 5.9 4wd automatic 310000miles

    So I just rebuilt my motor got it put back in the truck and everything hooked up. Went to crank it up and it won’t even click the starter. But I am Getting power down to the starter. I also noticed my WTS light isn’t coming on at all. Could they be the same problem? What could be the problem? Thanks in advance!

    Truck almost didn't want to start last night on way home from work. Got her started; good FP on way home (stock pumps), around 13-15 PSI. Got up this morning, started to crank, but no start. Turn key and won't even crank. Throwing a P0122 and so far nothing else. Just disconnected batteries couple minutes ago to reset APPS. Batteries are fairly new, 2 months old. Waiting the rest of the 30 min to try again, but looking for advice ahead of time. Will a dead VP44 always throw a code? I'm preparing myself for the worst with the VP, but hoping there's something I'm missing. If it doesn't crank again, I'll do the diagnostic on the APPS to check it out, once I get some more da…

    Good evening everyone, This morning I went to start my truck and it just cranked but never fired. I noticed smoke coming from engine bay and it was coming from ground cable from passenger side battery negative post that connects to body. It was extremely hot and was smoking. Truck started and ran fine yesterday. Really need my truck back up and running, please help! Tim

    Today when i removed My Air Charge unit i found Oil laying in the rubber boot that connects the tube to Air Charger. when i took it loose at the turbo i did not find any trace of Oil. Iremoved the turbo and can't find any Oil or anything wrong, shaft is extremely tight and blades look great.. COULD THIS STILL BE COMMING FROM THE TURBO SEAL & BECAUSE OF PRESSURE IT IS CONDENCING AT THE INLET OF THE AIR CHARGE UNIT????

    I have an 02 cummins ext cab short bed 4x4 with an auto. Truck was foggy and lost all power. Had codes P1698 P1689 P0237 which myself and mechanic buddy thought it was a bad vp44. So we replaced it with a new one from thouroughbred. Anyways he put it on and all the codes are still there and nothing has changed. I don't know what to do next!! Also have an airdog raptor and at WOT it still has 8psi
