  1. Hi there. Hope everyone is well. I recently started getting some chirping in the cab and dismissed it as something being loose. However, seems it only occurs when I dump the clutch or quickly increase demand from the engine. Does this sound like it could be the t.o.b. starting to fail. Thanks for the time.

My 02 cummins 2500 4x4 with nv4500 has a rough idle or like a miss after the truck is warmed up. It smooths out if the AC kicks in or you let the clutch out just a little as if you were to roll ahead a bit. The truck has a new vp44, TPS, and FASS titanium pump. I've seen this problem posted on other forums but nobody had a fix to the rough idle. Anyone have this problem or have a fix for it? Any help would be greatful.

I know that you guys have said that the HX35W is the turbo to get, but my HY35 has worked well for 250K. I currently have 100HP injectors, 5" exhaust, Air Dog, HBAF, and low fuel pressure light. I do not have an EGT sensor or tuner, and tow a camper and bass boat, so I am slightly worried about my EGT's, but figured the 5" exhaust would help keep those in check. SO, do I rebuild the HY35, or spend the big bucks to get a HX35W, as I can't seem to find them used with low miles. Oh the current HY35 has oil leaking on the intake side, so I am pretty sure it is toast. Thanks

  10. Got around to changing the oil and doing some services and maintenance on the wife's truck yesterday. It still has the OEM oil pan drain plug in it. I was going to replace the drain plug last time with a magnetic drain plug I bought from some scam artist on eBay but the plug didn't even come close to fitting. Last oil change I ordered a magnetic drain plug from Genos Garage and have it ready to install this time. http://www.genosgarage.com/prodinfo.asp?number=HDOP-KIT-22MM I put one of these drain plugs on my other truck and they work great. I just wish they would make them with the rare earth high strength magnets. I put these rare earth magnets on the oil filt…

Alright, so in the midst of moving, I decided to try and kill 2 birds with one stone. Loaded up the dodge full with firewood. I had a cord of wood in the truck, but about 3/4 of it was just cedar. The other portion was maple. Really, I did'nt think it would cause a problem. I hauled alot more wood then that. I have stuck green paper birch in the truck in 8 foot lengths all the way to the top of my wood rack. Thats a crapload more weight in the truck then what I was just hauling. So, being that we were moving, I was driving the u-haul. I left the wife in charge of driving the dodge. She was not too confident in driving with this much weight in the truck. I told her she woul…

  12. Strange one I posted recently about not getting lock up when I should, put it down to the quad. I changed the tune slightly that journey TC locked perfect throughout. Next day truck was same as before not locking up at all at times. Fitted a mystery switch. TC will only lock up if I flick the switch and back off the throttle once locked it holds perfectly. To unlock I flick the switch off and have to release the throttle again? Anyone shed any light into this? Oh and the TC will lock on under acceleration if the switch is on and at WOT... I've checked the switch circuit tested good and checked down to pin 7 on the trans. When I rebuilt this box I didn't change the wiring …

Alright guys little story behind this... I left the mountain from snowmobiling today and about 20min into the drive I started the long trek up the 7% grade 5 miles long at 11,000ft elevation. By the time I got to the bottom of the grade my thermostat had obviously opened (Saw temps rise to 195 then backed down to 190). So, doing 70 with the EGTs at 1,100 degrees constant I look down and see the water temp rising... usually this is normal and it creeps to 195-197 then settles right in that area. This time it kept rising and topped out at 209. It then held that for about a mile, then dropped down to 195 and didn't rise again the rest of the way up the mountain. I don't thin…

Just had alternator rebuilt Monday and worked fine for couple of days. Yesterday when I started truck the check gauges light came on and I noticed voltmeted wasn't coming up. After about 30 secs it came up to 14v. This morning same thing and I noticed torque converter lock up problem until I drove about 15 miles then it stopped. Had alternator redone but still same problem. Batteries load test good. Alternator plug is tight. Any ideas?

I had a guy call me today that has been having some trouble with his 24v and I wanted to see what the experts here have to say about it. Here is a rundown of what I know about his issues. A few months back he told me he was having a dead pedal issue and the shop the truck was at replaced the apps and it still did it so then they ended replacing the vp44 and lift pump. Now the current problem he has is the lift pump runs when you turn the key on but then once the truck is started it seems the lift pump shuts off and the engine will start stumbling and smoking. I'm almost thinking it could be a problem in the ECM but I really hope for him …

  16. I went to drain my fuel filter canister today, turned the drain valve nothing came out, not even a drop of fuel came out. So I pulled the canister it was full of fuel, pulled the filter out dumped the fuel out. Looked in the bottom and there is about 3/4" or so of sludge, it has the consistency or pours about like honey very thick. It's about the color of fuel. Anyone have any idea what it could be? I been running 3 oz of two stroke oil every other tank since I bought the truck. I wonder if it could be gathering in the bottom of the filter housing? I have only owned the truck since last Nov, I changed the filter the day after I bought the truck. I have not even put…

  17. Ok, for those of you who dont know me and my truck observe. I will start by saying my truck is cursed, some here would agree some will tell you he's not a good enough mechanic. My fuel pump is a Airdog 100 when new it ran about 15lbs of pressure at idle, wot it was 14.50, one year later it drops to 13lbs at idle and 12.50 wot. Ok I have other problems other than that but we wont go there yet. So I just accepted that was normal, so while trying to fix other issues one step at a time ( replacing everythink one peace at a time till I fix it or it will be stock again ) I started with fuel pressure hose from pump to isolater. No leaks no cracks in line no slite fuel on fitting…

  18. 2002 5.9 dually 81,000 miles on the clock. Have several problems guys. But firstly I bought the truck 6 months ago and have put 18,000 miles on it but when the cold weather hit I came up with alot of problems. I'm pretty mechanicly inclined I just dont know where to begin my first 5.9 24valve and diesel for that matter. Its pouring oil like a drop every 10 seconds out of the crank case vent so I emptied the bottle and filter and that didnt help a bit. Also theres a small hole in the bottle I'm assuming from the previous owner? Next I have a hard start fuel leak issue sets down hill truck starts fine, tighten the banjo bolt still no luck. Cant actually see fuel leaking fro…
