Asking for a friend... Was talking with and he said he's currently running an edge chip on 5x5, 4in exhaust, K&N intake and an Airdog with no filters and that's it. He did mention he has an inline filter or some sort but didn't really catch it. Has a NV5600, truck has 250k and still running on stock VP44. He's seeing fuel pressure from 20 at idle down to 9 while under load and heavy throttle. He said he would get codes here and there that were VP related but he'd run a bottle of methane through the tank and then the codes could clear and truck would run fine. Not sure how old the airdog is but he seems to think that he's seeing those fuel pressure numbers due to …

Ok so I had a chance to really look today and plan out my setup for the AirDog system im planning to get and I couldn"t find my lift pump. The mount on the side of the just has a alum block with a line running through it, and there is no pump mounted on the frame rail. So my only other option is an in tank pump, but I have never heard of an in tank pump on an '01, but maby im wrong. If I do have an in tank pump what does this change for the AirDog system I plan on getting??

So I haven't driven my my pickup in a month and a half and it was gelled up when I parked it but I put a bunch of treatment in it before I parked it and ran it for a bit and then parked it... Yesterday I put a new fuel filter in bumped the key to cycle lift pump to fill the fuel filter housing... When I did this I heard the lift pump running but no fuel was being pumped it was about 20 degrees yesterday.... The pump is only like 2 years old...has anyone had the pump run but not move fuel before or do you think it might just be gel in the lines

Well I got hit again today with a bad part. Got all my gauges hooked up yesterday and was waiting on the intake elbow gasket to get here before I run the truck. It came in this morning and I got it all back together and primed the fuel system. Let it idle for a couple min and looked at my fuel pressure gauge and saw this I checked every part house in town and no one ha the pump at a reasonable cost and none would price match an online competitor price. Called the Cummins dealer in Memphis and he priced me one for 160 an said he would ship it to me for about 10 dollars. Went ahead and ordered it since a don't have the money to put on an AD or Fass right now. The new pump s…

I am about to purchase the Raptor 100. I was under the truck today just trying to see what i am getting into. It seems I have a pump mounted to the frame next to the gas tank, which i knew because I can here it come on (and its not the first time under the truck)....when i follow the fuel line up towards the filter it looks like there is another pump mounted on the block next to the filter. I followed the fuel line to this (pump?) and then out of it into the top of the fuel filter. I have only had this truck a couple months and I dont know the history. I am thinking that the original pump was block mounted? And that when someone replaced the pump they just left the old pu…

Ok guys I had to replace my vp44 so I also bought a new airdog 150 lift pump. So my question is. My lift pump wire that comes off the ecm when the key is in the on position it’s only reading 8.9 volts. Will this be enough voltage to trigger my relay for my new lift pump. Or is my ecm bad. Again the key is in the on position not cracking

Was at my brothers today and was talking about his old ctd 2000 2500 4x4. anyways the lift pumped failed so he went a picked up a 100 dollar edlebrock electric fuel pump, spliced it into his lines by tank and ran them straight to filter bowl bypassing lift pump completely. ran power to a toggle switch in cab which is handy because if anyone is gonna steal the truck they would make it about 200ft before running out of fuel. after install he never dropped below 15 psi and never got above 20-21. anyone else done this?

Lift Pump Bypass for VP44 Trucks? The Modification – This subject matter might be a bit controversial, but I believe I have found a good solution regarding driving a VP44 equipped truck when a lift pump has failed while on the road. After I did an experiment for checking fuel return volume from the VP44 fuel injection pump on my truck, I realized that I came upon what I believe to be a simple solution to one of the biggest fears for VP44 truck owners - a lift pump failure while on a road trip. For the experiment I routed a fuel line with a one-way check valve around the lift pump so fuel would still flow when the lift pump was non-operational (simulating an …

I like having information to make educated decisions, so I've been reading as many forum posts from as many different forums as I could find and I've come to the decision that I now have a headache. I've got a few questions that I'm not finding answers for, so it's my turn to ask...Is there a difference in reliability between lift pumps that are externally adjustable for pressure +/- (eg Raptor, AD2 system, FASS adjustable) and those that need to have springs replaced (eg. most other FASS, AD system)? I do like the idea of external adjustability to fine tune fuel pressure. But is the external screw only compressing a spring to increase/decrease pressure as opposed to swap…

So after 10 months of no CEL I got a lift pump circuit code(230). I am not using that circuit and the plug has been hanging there for a while now( 10 months). I also noticed that the grids never cycled after I started. The wts light went on for about 2 secs then shut off. The CEL turned on before I even started it, I just turned the key to the "on" position and it illuminated in about 1 second.... Any ideas.... That was the only code. I can clear it and it will come back in no more than 2 start cycles.thanks,Will

I just purchased my first diesel truck from Nampa Idaho. It is a 2001 Quad Cab Dually 5 speed with only 65K on the clock. Got it from the original owner. The only mods he did to the truck was to put a 98 gallon aux tank and some Dr. Performance injectors and a jake brake. I have been reading about lift pumps and I am a bit confused. My friend who know a little about diesels showed me the lift pump on the dirvers side of the block. But I keep reading about a pump in the gas tank. I want to protect my VP44 and make it last as long as I can by upgrading the lift pump. The Blue Chip bolt on looks like a good option, but do I have to tear into the gas tank sender and cut up a …

Approximately a year ago my lift pump(Raptor)quit working because my ECM was misbehaving(WTS light only working part time). I hot-wired lift pump through a switch as I needed truck. I have since had ECM repaired and all is good, however I would like to know what the folks here would suggest I do with lift pump power. Should I hook it back up to ECM, through a relay of course, or should I use @IBMobile ASD wiring article for lift pump power? I’m kinda apprehensive about hooking to ECM again but that would be simplest. Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

This is an edit on what I wrote below: There is definitely something wrong in the pump controls which must mean the ecm. I started thinking about the transmission phantom shifting problems these truck have when the alternator is leaking ac current in to the dc system. That has been happening to me occasionally. I decided to clean my battery terminals as they needed it and can be a contributing factor to the power/ecm issue. I then started the truck and had no problem with the lift pump cutting out for 15 minutes then it shut off again. I pulled up the electrical schematic and found the positive wire to the lift pump split in to two wires that both go in to the ecm. I am r…

I've been having an issue with the lift pump not doing the prime cycle when the key is turned on. Every other time the key is turned to the "on" position, it will take 5-6 seconds for the lift pump to do it's 2 second prime. Once the truck is actually started, the pump runs fine and acts normal. If I try to start the truck once the key is on, and before the pump has ran, the truck will not start, it just turns over. If I immediately turn the key off after cranking, then the pump will run for 25 seconds, even after a the key is off. I'm running a FASS HPFP, and this issue started about a year after I installed the new system. I've checked conn…

I have a lift pump issue I am chasing. Now before you tell me Raptor is junk, get a FASS I switched to my spare pump today and still the same symptoms so I'm ruling the pump out for now. Most of the time when cold I'll key on, hear the 1sec pump run and away we go as normal. Pump always holds 18 psi once it's running. When the truck is warmed up and I shut it off for a few mins. and go to restart, most of the time I hear a clunk, clunk, clunk from the LP. After that sometimes it will run and sometimes not. I usually bump the starter until it does run and then start. Once running it never shuts off and hold good pressure. What makes it hard to diagnose is that it does not …

I have a Fass ddrp 95 thats three years old and I know low pressure is a sign the lift pump is failing. What are other signs? Mine in the last three months has not come on upon start up 4 times and stopped once just after pulling onto street. I have turn it off and on a couple times to it to go. Filters are 2 -3 months old pressure is down a couple psi but it usually is in the winter when it is cold.

I have a 99 5.9 24 valve 2wd, auto..... My fuel pump is not powering on anymore, when the key is placed into the on position. With the fuel heater on my "On Position voltage is around 11.8 to 12.0 volts.....it has been around 45 in the mornings here, and my grid heater/s are cycling normally. My issue is that my fuel pump only starts running when I start the engine. There is no lag time, it starts normally and the grid heaters stop cycling after about 30 seconds plus or minus. I do not have any fuel leaks and am running 17 psi at idle as soon as both fuel pressure gauges (electric and mechanical) top out about 1 second give or take after it starts...... this is not wh…
