Hello all;I have a simple question, that may not be a simple job, but....I am in need of a new cab, instead of spending all the time cutting and welding new floors, rockers and cab corners. I have a really good deal in front of me, it is a cab from a 1995 ram gasoline, now I have a 2001 ram diesel, are the cabs interchangable for those years??? If so are there any suggestions to make my job go smoother, is there any drilling or cutting??? or if anyone has done it before what was the order they went in for taking things apart? Thank you very much.

In March the transmission had a no or delayed 1-2 and 2-3 shift condition. The transmission and cooling lines were flushed, the 3-4 accumulator spring, along with the governor solenoid and pressure/temperature transducer replaced. The fluid was changed to Valvoline synthetic +4. The transmission shifted great after the repair. The end of July I go on a 1000 mi "camping trip" pulling my 5th wheel with the boat behind it. I find out that I have no torque convertor lock up! This had happened once before in May of 2018 for about 10 miles. Now, cruising at 60 mph the RPMs are1900±; when accelerating from 60 mph the RPM increase rapidly to 2400-2700 d…

  3. I'm putting in an Airdog FRRP-100 and having a helluva time getting the 1/2 line to go onto the barb fittings. I oiled them per the instructions with some fresh engine oil and can only get them on so far. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

So I went on vacation this weekend and had to leave the truck at the airport. No way to plug it in. I have known for a while that the batteries were getting a little weak but like a :banghead: I figured I could squeeze one more trip out of them. When I got back last night it was a toasty -7* F in Fargo, ND. Batteries didn't have enough juice to crank her over. Had a guy give me a jump and we finally got it started after a couple of times worth of cranking a few seconds, let the batteries recharge, run the grids. Now the check engine light is on. Gonna go by a autozone or something and use a scanner. Ill post what I find. I got some new batteries today so I shouldn't have …

Well I have done everything I think possiable, it has come down to bitting the bullet and buy a vp from Blue Chip Diesel. The people I have been dealing with rebuild junk. I have learned a lot about the famous vp junk in a bucket. More is being revealed day by day as our trucks get age on them. He is going to give me a fair deal I think, he says if the pump does not fix my problem just box it back up and send it back for full refund. Here is some hind site for ya, if you lose two pumps and they are not in warranty your expense just cost you what it would if you had ppumped it to start with. The chance of you going thru two pumps is highly likely. I know somebody is going…

Hello All, its time for another problem. I have an 01 2500 (DFI 7X009 injectors, DTT Trans with 89% converter, 3.55 gears, 265/70/17 Tires) and I recently removed my stock exhaust manifold and Hy35/9 turbo and AFE air filter and replaced it with an Insta-Spool Super 9 turbo, ATS 3 piece exhaust manifold and a Power Driven Diesel Dust Bowl air filter. After installing those items I took it for a test drive and all was good. Spooling was nice and had about 38 psi max boost and EGT's were higher than I thought they should be, 950-1000F at 65 MPH on flat ground no load. I called Power Driven Diesel and asked about the boost numbers and EGT's and they asked me to incr…

Somewhere I looked over a write up that I think Mike wrote or fixed up about what the settings on the Edge did. Explained about each setting and its affect on fuel and timing. Of course I can't find it now and did not copy it. Could someone point it out to me . Regards Chris

Hi, I'm new to this site. Have a question about a transmission issue: Started almost one year ago, while pulling my 5th wheel RV. Had driven about 15 miles and it went into limp mode. Took to a transmission repair shop the following day and they replaced all the solenoids in the transmission. Problem continued, so took truck back to repair shop where they said it had thrown a code for the 3rd and 4th shifting solenoid (malfunctioned). They then replaced that. Problem still persisted. Repair shop then said it needed a new 'brain' or PCM. Took it to a Dodge dealer who replaced this part. Still having problems. Here is what is occurring: When it first started acting up, upon…

I have been using walmarts 2 cycle in the mix and apparently they no longer carry it or they are doing a good job of hiding it , is there a good substitute ?

  14. I have torn down my truck and the head is removed and getting it all ready to take the the machine shop tomorrow to have it checked and shaved flat. Do I have to remove the valve springs before I take it to them or can those stay in? Everything is completely removed except those and I wasn't sure about them.

Hey Guys, New weird problem. Its a 2001 3500 auto trans 5.9l 85,000 miles. The issue is when I make a very hard turn, both right or left, the rear end (or something in the back) seems to be extremely loose and starts to bounce and make an extremely loud banging noise that goes away after I slow down and straighten out. It really feels like the entire truck is going to rattle apart until I get it straight again. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Neal

Ive been chasing down problems with this new to me 98 24v and just got a pretty big indicator I think. First I diagnosed alternator AC problems causing TC lock/unlock issues, and then narrowed down my TC not unlocking to a couple things but now I was just out for a drive, stopped at a buddies house and we figured it was idling a little high 900rpm(ish) and the CEL kicked on while I was there. I was going to try an APPS reset when I got home but on my way home cruising down the highway my throttle pedal went dead and I had to be towed home. Pulled the codes and got P0121, P0122, P0216, P0234, and of course a P1693 to go with it all. I know what the definition of each cod…

  18. Hey folks need advice on how effective adding a aux trans cooler will be to keeping my trans temps in check, I bought my 2001 with 300k from my uncle in law. He was the original owner and always serviced it at my father in law's shop. I only using for hunting, camping and occasional trailer hauling trips. I'm a park ranger in Nevada and love backcountry hunting, climbing, mountain biking etc... My favorite spot involves a 45+ minute climb in 4LO to get up a series of switchbacks from 5500' to 8000'. The transmission, and eventually the motor gets hot. Trans 225+ motor 210. Juice will read the temp sensor I installed in the transmission on passenger…

  19. Ok I have been reading posts on fuel temperature effecting the vp44.No one is saying what is a good temperature for the fuel! How hot is to hot?How cold is to cold?If the overflow valve is not allowing fuel to return to the tank then you are stuck with the temperature that is coming from the tank.If the overflow valve is open then the temperature is what is generated under the hood and from friction in the pump and injector pump!So would a inline cooler be a improvement? then if the air is to cold it seems like it would be a detrament and you would want a inline heater.Just some thoughts in my head and I would like to see other peoples thought on this

  20. Dead again! Error codes with 3X key method P1693, P0215, P0521 Innova 3100 Code reader shows nothing.... P0215 shows fuel relay, I checked the PDC with a test light and I have power to the pin labeled 87. The relay showed 80 ohms between 87 and 86. P1693 ECM. P0521 oil pressure switch. The engine will not turn over, all the dash lights goes dead when I try to start, there is a very faint wait to start light . Even with a battery charger set to 80 amp jump mode, there is a huge drain somewhere. The grid heater wires are not getting hot either. I checked the other relays and I saw nothing major. Grid heater relay maybe? …
