Well, I got to use the Freightliner quite a bit today. Any ways she is back to full power. Enter highways from the ramp when all the cars go to the left to allow right of way and pass that big slow truck , they get quite the run for their money, I lay onto the accelerator, and they find them selves going alot faster to get around me. Also, at the bridge toll, 3 tolls wide, big blue took the lead up the grade to the bridge, left all the cars behind. It has always been a fast truck since I got it. Has some real tall gears. top speed of 85 mph at 2500 RPM governed. It has a 3.31 rear axle, and runs on 22.5 tires, so yeah it is long legged.Any ways after a 45 minute run home …

Good Morning! A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to find a 2001 Dodge 2500 manual 4wd long bed with 62K original miles. I drove it down from Montana to New Mexico, which I had the brake lines replaced pretty much immediately because there was a slight leak. I was driving to work and then all of a sudden I lost power, which caused the truck to stall out in the middle of the road. It turned out to be a bad lift pump, which I replaced with the Titanium Series Fass95 only to find out the Vp44 went with it. The shop I had originally had the truck brought to drained both 10 year old batteries accidentally and for some reason when they recharged them one of the batte…

Hi guys, Just picked up a Flame Red, 102K 2002 Sport, Auto, 4x4, 3:55's, Qcab, 8' bed. Truck is stock and I searched for this one to be like that on purpose. I already have done some EXTENSIVE (a year plus) reading before getting one of these trucks, and I really purchased for the MPG and pulling power for my side camper/boat repair business. It was hard to let go of the Super Duty for the sheer toughness alone but I couldn't take the 11mpg average. Anyway, I already ordered a column gauge pod and an Isspro mechanical fuel pressure gauge, a fleetguard filter to swap out the scary K&N oil filter and a new fuel filter. (I pan on adding a Edge Juice W/ Attitude…

Great site, glad I found it. My name is Bob Donnelly, I have a Freightliner FL50 with a Cummins ISB and, Fuller Eaton 6 speed. At 117K I replaced my VP44 because the truck was not running the same. Chip at Blue chip diesel, determined the computer on the VP44 was bad, so I replaced it , and the power was back. At only 120K I am having the same issues. Chip said to take it in for DTC scan. I did, it has no codes, the owner of the shop, said to test the wastegate, and to replace the leaking exhaust manifold gaskets. The wastegate leaked, so it has been replaced, and the manifold has new gaskets and bolts. I installed a fuel pressure gauge in dash at the time of the VP44 rep…

hi everyone my name is Jason barrett, I live in Lincoln Ca, I have an 02 2500 with a few simple things done, 4inch mbrp turbo back exhaust, BHAF, 2.5 inch leveling kit, quadzilla dxzt-02 programmer, an expensive transmission, with a d&p triple disc billet converter, billet servos, billet valve body, Kevlar bands, and that is about it for now. My ECM question is in my opinion a dumb one, I think I might know the answer to. so here we go, what exactly is the difference between a 2002 6speed ecm and a…

Mike thank you for all you do. You have helped me by phone twice and am now joining your forum - and yes I need some help!!! 1999 Dodge RAM 3500 4x4 Diesel Dually. Can't get it started in the morning - even jumping it (especially in this colder 20 degree weather) takes a while. On first startup (at night it shows well) the headlights will dim greatly for a few seconds and brighten (and repeat). I assume this is the alternator kicking on and off. After awhile this affect goes away. Running for awhileit will charge up well and restart as needed. If we take short stops and starts will notice it progressively harder to start up again. Assumed the batteries (3 year old…

Hi Everyone,I am a new diesel owner and just was poking around on the forum and saw a lot of guys use 2-cycle oil as a fuel additive in there trucks. I just have a few questions. 1) What is the ratio of 2-cycle oil to gallons of gas?2) How often can you add it to the gas? Is it an every other fill up type deal? Or is it something you always do?Any info on this subject would be helpful! Thanks.

I am pretty sure I am going to purchase it if it everything the seller claims. Thanks for your input,Chris

First id like to introduce myself, im from delaware and have a 99 3500 dually. My problem is the trans shudders alil bit around 40-50mph, i took it to the trans shop and they got 2 codes, 1693 on the engine side and 1682 on the trans side of the tester. i know the 1682 is a charging issue, coyuld this cause the trans to act up? also, when i start the truck for the first min or so, the volts read way low like at 10, then slowly rise up to above 14v, while at idle the truck will have kinda like sudden dips in the lites and the noise the fuel pump makes dip for a sec and then normal, any help would be great, looking forward to the site as well, im fairly new to the cummins. …

Hi all, I just bought my first diesel pick up a 2001 Ram 2500 4x4 24valve auto last week. I have been lurking the forums and have found out alot of info, but have a few questions. Should I run an additive with my fuel to help lube the pump? If so what do you guys recommend? I see my first mod should be a fuel psi gauge so I will be doing it ASAP. I do a bit of drag racing and I have a Autometer gauge and a isolator so all I need is a way to hook it in between the filter housing and the inj pump. My truck has the lift pump mounted on the engine and also has had a small inline pump mounted on the frame. It looks like the same size as the metal inline fuel filters. …

Greetings all,First time poster on this forum. Have a few problems and wanted to ask you guys for some suggestions.I'm having the following codes pop up:p0215, p0314, p1689, and p1690.I lose tach after engine heats up.Mileage does not seem to be affected.Engine is sluggish.I took battery leads off of drivers side battery and left them off for a couple of hours while I did some work on the truck. After I put everything back together, the check engine light went off and truck ran great ,until engine heated up. Back to same old problems.Should I just bite the bullet and take it to dealer? (cringe)Any suggestions would be great. Thanks,Jeff2002 Dodge Ram Quad Cab, 6 sp. HO, n…

Well, here I am. !st. post for a newbie. Right off the bat, I apologize for any dumb questions that have probably been asked before. I have a 2001 I picked up a few months back from the original owner with 154,000 miles on it. I am told that it has had the lift pump replaced twice and the vp44 replaced once. The truck is all stock. It also had a dealer replaced trans at 127,000 miles as I have been told. I want to install an after market lift pump and stay as close to stock equipment as possible. After reading here and on the other forum I am thinking that the Raptor 100 in front of the stock fuel filter/fuel heater would be the way to go. I guess what I would like t…

Hi all I have a 2001.5 2500 4x4, stock with all the extras, etc. For years I have been a tire salesman but I still don't quit grasp the matching tire thing as it pertains to transfer cases. Now I know it is important to match tires on a full time 4x4. I ask because my new to me truck has all the same size tires and brands but because of a previous owner flat, the right front is almost new while the others are 50%. It seems in we drive in 4 wheel drive only on slippery surfaces, then we do it because the slipping road will take care of the binding by slipping the tires but is there added heat building up that makes it hard on the transfer to run with different tread d…

I am a newbie to Cummins diesel trucks so bare with me and my questions. I changed my fuel filter today, once the old filter was out I noticed debris in the bottom on the filter housing so I cleaned that out best I could. I had to drain the housing so it took a few key cycles to prime again but she did restart. While doing this I noticed another inline filter before the LP that I'm sure is not factory. See pics below, before and after cleaning out the debris, last one you should be able to see the inline filter down near the frame. Also, there is what seems like a larger line from the LP to the filter housing. Is this just an adapter or is it what is con…

HI Guys, I bought a Built unit and I'm dealing with the Black smoke output. As long as I leave it in Cruise control it will just build boost and climb the hill in overdrive. But when I interface with the throttle Black Smoke BABY!! Drop out of over drive and it goes for a little then it Black smokes. So in doing my learning, reading, It's been suggested that a Quadzilla V2 would allow me to tone down the injectors, and Tame the Smoke. I have a rebuilt Injector pump with 2 years warranty so I would like to forgo the wiretap mod to start with. As I read the Wire tap is to increase the fuel, and that is not my issue. I was just reading where another gentl…

Newby HELP! Power down @ 1900 RPM Here's my story bought my 1st Diesel, unknown to me it had a cracked 53 block. Ran good but high idle (about 850 rpm). Bought a used 2000 24valve with 50 k miles on it. Did the re n re myself all went good runs good but @ 1900 RPM powers down, no throttle resonse until the RPM drop below 1900. Replaced fuel pump as it was producing 6-7 PSI. Traded the new engine ecm for the old ecm, starts, runs high idle like old engine for a few seconds then tach stops working, idle drops to a lower RPM and check engine light comes on ....but when test drove didn't power out at 1900 RPM....switched back to newer ECM and runs as normal except still po…
