I knew I was low, but the hill out of my house ran me out of diesel. Scangauge said I had 4.8 miles to empty, which is set for 32 gallons. Bottom line is ran dry. I'd of been fine on more less level ground. But the 10% grade out of my house put all the fuel out of the pickup area. I can't remember which lines are suggested to crack, but I did what was easy...1,3&4. Fired up after bleeding those. Yahoo!!! First time I've run the truck dry.

I installed my old 50hp injectors that came out of my old motor, they only had about 10k on them. Anyway something was not right, you could thighten them a little and it would change the way the motor ran, loosen them and it would go back. So I decided to clean up my old original (200k) injectors, that was a hilarious event, first I lost a shim, looked for about a hour and nothing, gave up and decided to swep up the floor and bingo found it. So I get back to the job at hand and now I forgot which one it went in so I just guessed. Decided I better go have them tested, and wow I got it right But they came back and said they are all weak. I am pissed now, I aint paying th…

Hi all. I haven't been on here in several months. Was rebuilding my motorcycle. Anyway, it appears that my power steering lines are leaking pretty bad, and looking for any advice on best way to change them out. I'm not sure yet which one is leaking as I need to clean it up and take a better look. Is there anything special I need to know? Thanks.

Over the last week I've noticed some strange behaviors from my truck and want you all's opinion on whether I'm being paranoid, I just need some maintenance, I'm about to have a serious truck breakdown to deal with, or something else altogether. Background: I'm in Minnesota, and my fuel tank is full of local "Premium" diesel. Temps are ranging from the 20s to even a few days in the 60s. Fuel from the same station I've used a lot in the past, newer station, sells lots of diesel. Other guys I work with fuel here, too, no problems. I'm running my Quad on Level 2 for MPG, as I have for a few thousand miles. Fuel pressure is unchanged. Can hardly tell about M…

My 2000 Dodge 24v (with 540k mi) started to run rough then stopped. Thought it was the VP44. Installed clear tubing between fuel filter canister and VP44, purged air and got running. Like someone flipped a switch, LOTS of air showed up in clear tubing, engine faltered and I shut it down. Put clear line between Raptor RP-100 and tank: purged air, got running, no air, then engine shut down on its own. Put clear tubing on pressure side of RP-100 with additional clear tubing back between filter canister and VP44: tiny, tiny bubbles by RP-100 and then, like someone flipped a switch, aquarium aerator bubbles after fuel filter canister. Replaced canister top, put new "O" r…

It was my first clutch job so you guys helped alot thanks to this site , but my brother just called me and he is having problems with the truck . He seems to not been able to shift gears ,he said that the only way the truck can move is if the truck is turned off and he puts it on second gear ,but then the truck will not shift to any other gear . I cant test drive it my self cuase I am still out of town, so wanted to ask if you have any idea of what could it be ? He took it to a shop and was told it …

After driving 250miles south she was running fine. I filled up and shortly after had what felt like a misfire. the truck was driving fine but it just wasnt idling like it used to. I put another 750 miles in the same week and have filled up 2 or three times now and it still isnt idling right. i changed the fuel filter and now a day later its not starting right. it will turn over, choke a couple times and die. then i have to crank for about 6-10 second with nothing and then she will fire and run. I my lift pump is just over a year old and my pressure sensor recently died do to lack of isolation. i have plenty of power all around still and my fuel mileage is still the same. …

Wondering what I can do to help lower transmission temps drastically. The other day I ran a little over 200 degrees pulling a 7 thousand pound trailer. (Built tranny with triple-disk TC, shift kit, and heavy duty bands.) Do you guys recommend transmission coolers/fans? Drop some links in the comments of products that you have or have opinions on. Thanks a bunch! Also, have you guys read about the new Smarty MM3 tuning for 98.5-02's?!?

Does anyone have any experience with these guys or their turbos? https://instaspoolperformance.bigcartel.com/history-of-savage-fabrication I know the Borg stuff is newer technology, but I really REALLY like these guys’ story. They seem to care a lot about their craft and the product they build for their customers. I might be oversimplifying it, but it looks like he just remastered the he351cw and offers it as a true drop in replacement for the HX35.

I finally spent some time this weekend pulling and resealing my vacuum pump. I have been having some pretty good oil leaks as of late, also a ton of smoke ou tof the breather tube. I have also been having low vacuum issue at idle. Pretty easy to do, hardest part is getting the 4 nuts holding the PS pump to the back of the vacuum pump off. I highly suggest taking the truckt o a self wash place and power washing the area well before you start. Takes about 3 hours the first time you do it, prob half of that the next time you do it. I have been %100 drip free since rebuilding it so I am pretty happy. I also have plenty of vacuum n…

So I am changing a clutch on my 2001 5 spd 4wd and the old pilot bushing failed and exploded which caused the clutch to fail. the issue I am having is that my flywheel has a 6205nse c3 bearing machined into it, which has a 0.9525" (25mm) id and the needle bearing that came with my new clutch has a 1.0025 od, doesn't seem to want to go- also the bushing that exploded was just a brass bushing and not a needle bearing. the guys at Napa who are usually pretty good are stumped and say they haven't seen this application on this truck before. this suckscan anyone help?

Sorry I am new on here but have been on other sites that told me things that weren't exactly right. Just if someone is wondering the VP off a 2000 (so) with auto trans. will work on a 2001 (ho) with 6 speed. I made the switch about 500 Miles ago at first I thought it was the IP and swaped the pumps, it turned out to be the APPS. The pump off the 2000 (so) works just fine on the 2001 (ho). '

Its not uncommon to read threads/posts where members are unaware of why their u-joint angles must be set correctly otherwise driveline vibrations will be a problem. I just ran across this 2 minute youtube video which I think does a very good but yet simple job of explaining whats going on. Maybe this will help some people out understanding whats going on under their truck. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aCK4Bob6a0

I posted this on the Cummins forum and thought I'd post here hoping to get some answers/ideas: So my '01 has started with no issues in the year that I've had it. Today I pulled into the paint store and upon returning to the parking lot, the truck started for about 2 seconds, 5 times in a row then nothing but the starter spinning. I could hear the fuel pump run and had 20 psi on my fuel gauge while trying to start. I called the tow company and was waiting for 30 min or so and remembered that Mike here on the forum had told me a few months ago, when I had a no start issue after installing my PacBrake unit, to toggle the lock/unlock on the key fob. I did that …

So earlier this week I put the big line kit on from my factory filter to the VP44. After checking all the connections I went to the car wash and powerwashed under the hood around the starter, whole factory fuel filter unit, and around the inlet for the VP44. This morning was 36 degrees and the truck started fine and drove about 30 miles on the freeway headed out deer hunting. Pulled up to my friends house and then the RPM gauge drops to zero, CEL on, and the truck started almost like hiccuping or bumping RPM up. Backed out and drove it down the street and the truck seemed to drive fine. Pulled over, shut it off, waited about a minute then turned it over. Tru…

I am running stock fuel line and filter with a Fass ddrp2. I have had no problem whatsoever. I have read about replacing the banjo bolt fittings with larger less fuel restrictive fittings. I'm thinking I could change the banjo bolt at the vp44 to the enlarged "DRILLED" banjo bolt and run 1/2" fuel hose to the OEM Filter.I guess my question is, "Is the OEM Filter housing drillable to handle a 1/2" hose fitting". I need some advice from members that have been there done that.Thank you, Kerley

Guys thanks for the suggestions on my previous thread of which chip to run. I towed my 28' 5th wheel this weekend and I took the Super Chip out and ran it stock. Honestly, it sucked!! Lacked power. I wasnt smart enough to take the Super Chip with me and load the tow safe mode when towing back today. I did get a error code though. P0234 I think it was Turbo overboost condition. What causes this and how to prevent it??? --- Update to the previous post... Oh yeah, by the way, the truck ran fine all the way home.
