I have a FASS 95 with 3/8" (I believe) fuel lines.Fuel filters (inline and main filter) replaced about 5k ago.Last week, my fuel pressure started reading 30+. My gauge only reads to 30. As long as I'm pressing the gas, I get a normal reading (15-18, ~14 WOT). When I start the truck, the pressure has always spiked to 30+ for a second, then came right back to 18. It's just now STAYING at 30+..Called FASS and got instructions on how to take the pump apart and check the ball and spring. I'm in the process of finding a mechanic or someone to help me because I'm not sure I can handle it by myself. I also need to check that my gauge is working (It is a GlowShift...) but I can't…

Alrighty straight to the Chase I'm sick and tired of my nv I know its going out just don't know when. I've decided on what I want to do but need more info that what i can find. I want to swap in an eaton 8ll as that was the tranny I grew up loving in the old dump truck we used as a grain truck. It's what is familliar and its an eaton. But I'm open to suggestionsMy problem is how in the heck I'm going to mount that big sob. What transfer case to use? What clutch and flywheel? Bellhouseing? Is there a kit somewhere? Then once it is in how to convert my clutch? Get one out of the donor truck and fab it up? What is my cruising speed going to be in 8 at 1800 rpm?I have 353 gea…

Thought I would put in needle valve in fuel pressure line, I'm using elec gauge. In the directions, Auto meter (gauge maker) says in couple different places says to use snubber. I like the idea of needle valve, if nothing else valve can used as shut off valve to that line. Still going to put in snubber (just to be safe) . 100 DF air dog. Branching off fuel line about where motor meets trans. Question........... The Needle valve, where is best position? All the way open or slightly open? Or just play with it a bit to find best position? Your thoughts please.

It was a cold morning at the campground, 24°F, so before starting the truck's engine I flipped the switch to cancel the grid heater bypass and let them do their thing. After the grid heaters cycled the engine was started just fine with all the gauges coming alive. Once the oil reached safe operating pressure I flipped the switch which turns on the onboard air compressor for the exhaust brake. It was now time to get the show on the road and shift to drive; what the, "check engine" light is on. I pull out my handy dandy code reader an get this: P0753 Transmission 3-4 Shift Solenoid / Transmission Relay Circuits P1765 Transmission 12-Volt Sup…

Kinda curious what these little numbers signify. I guess as long as it doesn't have a 53 I am ok, but I am just wondering what everybody else's engine blocks have cast into them number wise, might be kinda interesting to see. driver's side pass side

The lead part on battery that goes to battery broke, I cut cable back about an inch. I dont see any visible corrosion. (Drop voltage test?) When I put one end of the now cut off lead lug i lose 1 volt at other end. And with volt meter i can get a beep doing a continuity test. Any suggestions for a proper elec test in order to ensure stock cable good or not. Thanks

I recently had my 98.5 vp44 engine rebuilt due to a melted piston after the truck was stolen. Ever since the rebuild I have had a smoke issue. Under light throttle, the truck smokes black. Running empty down the freeway the truck constantly smokes black. Smoke is worse pulling a trailer. Truck starts great, idles clean. No crank pressure. Oil level does not increase or decrease. No codes showing. BUILD: -Block was sent to a machine shop, bored 0.020” and decked 0.010”. Running a thicker head gasket to maintain factory compression ratio. -D&J stage 1 head w/ orings -Hamilton 178/208 cam w/103lb valve springs. -New vp44 -7x0.010 Sac injectors -62/68/1…

working on a 2001.5 dodge diesel quad cab 4x4 . I want to replace the convertor , is there enough room to slide the tranny back and swap out the convertor , or is t going to have to be dropped to the ground ? If I do this I'm working outside under a tarp and I was hoping to just sling the tranny to the frame and pull it backwards .

I was wondering if anyone has sent their VP44 out to be refreshed/rebuilt versus doing the typical purchase of a rebuilt unit and sending the old one in as a core. The pump on my truck has basically been running fine for 130K miles even though it was a reman of unknown origin installed by the previous owner in 2011. I thought it would be interesting to have whatever shop rebuild mine and send it back and let me know what it looked like at teardown. . .is my filtration working effectively, does it show signs of low quality fuel, was the timing piston scored, etc. I have been having an odd starting issue intermittently for about 4 yrs/50k miles where sometimes…

So guys I apologize if I already asked this but I looked through my post and can't see that I did. I know where there's a 2001 HO with a 6 spd for sale but it's 2 wheel drive. What is the big difference between the 2 and 4 wheel drive in regards to the 6 spd. I'm having a brain wave of buying the truck and parting it out , selling the engine and rest of the stuff off the truck and keeping the 6 spd for a spare or parts for mine. Not sure how much the engine would be worth, 355 km on it but still running decent form what i'm being told.

I have two axles that I am considering changing the internals from one to another 1. I have a Dana 70 2u (factory disc) that I picked up the other day, and it is trashed as far the internals go. 2. My good Dana 70 2u (drum) has about 300k on the clock, and its in good shape from the operational standpoint. Is the disc worth building, and having under the truck? It will take quite a bit of steaming all the metal out of the axle to get it to where it will be safe to run the axle long-term. Another thing I have considered is removing the flanges via cutting them off and putting the disc flange on the drum axle( minus the drum flange). I look forward to any…

hey i know this has topic has popped up heaps of times though im running out of ideas on mine 1999 cummins converted to right hand drive , i have replaced both ecm and pcm with remans from auto computer exchange, replaced transmission sensors solenoids.. speedo sensor on diff with new 5mm wires overkill i know, up to plug behind left wheel ive had all harness on engine stripped when i was diagnosing ecm issue, just recently was when i changed the pcm hoping that'd be the overdrive issue prior to that i had the switch on the dash mod so i know the transmission itself isn't the issue i spliced into wire for the o/d at the pcm so i know the wiring down from there is ok and i…
