Just curious, but what would happen if one were to bypass the ECM and install a switch to turn on the fuel pump? Mine works fine, but I was always curious about it.

there is a used smarty here for sale locally. They are asking 450. I looked it up and it looks like it sells new for 650 or 699. I dont have a tuner and have been undecided which to get when ready. But if this is one that is of good quality maybe I should ****** it up. It says you can do "stacking". I understand this means use with another box that will advance the timing. I'm not sure what the exact deal is with that. Why isn't one box designed to be enough?....maybe that's a dumb question....I just noticed I posted this in the wrong section...

  3. ^^^ like the title says I am looking for the best place to buy 2 new front wheel hub/bearing assemblies for my TWO wheel drive 2001 dually. I can find 4 wheel drive hubs all day long, but 2 wheel drive not so much! I know very few folks have 2 wheel drives so I am sure it is a supply and demand thing.

  4. Is there anyone in Tucson that could maybe stop by, I need some assistance. I really need my truck working. I have a 2002 Ram 3500. Didn't seem like it was getting power to the ecm. Did all the grounding mods and that fixed the problem. Went to start the other day WTS light came on and then shut off a couple of times then went off for good. Now it's the same problem.

New to this web site. Ii am working on a 1999 Dodge 2500, 230,000 miles Leaving work the other day, this past Friday, my truck quit as if the key had bee switched off, hard to start back up but did. Soon after that it happened again. the third time, I just parked it. got it running this past Saturday. ran great for about 6 miles, quit again, didn't start any more after that, I had to get it towed home. Was able to get it started three times yesterday. First time it ran for about 30 seconds then just quit. Secong time with out TPS plugged in, revved up very high and I turned it off very quick. Third time, after plugging TPS back in read just under 15 …

  6. 1998.5 24V Automatic tranny 4x4 2500. Hi folks. I have a considerable amount of turbo end shaft play. 208,800 miles. I have not checked boost pressure however I see oil is dripping off exit hose & clamp at ATAAC. I suspect I am pushing oil though the ATAAC as the turbo shaft seals and bearings are failing. Looking at stock turbo replacement options. I am planning to stick with stock size. Looking at replacement turbo options for a 1998 year I see a few choices. Some state "For Engine Vin code D". I assume that means diesel? Other turbo options read for "Engine VIN 6". I am unsure what that means, My engine tag is below. I don't see anythi…

How did you make the template for cutting your air blocker in your grill? I plan on trying to use some leftover laminate I have, but want to cut a template for it first so I don't waste too much of it. Also, how did you secure the metal road sign pieces to the grill. It looks like the pieces are on the front of the grill. Is this correct? Thanks.

I'm working on a home made ECM for my truck to go along with my VP44 project. I almost found an ECM today on a burned up truck but the wiring was burned all the way to the ECM so i figured it was toast. The guy wouldn't sell it, I would have to buy the motor and he said the VP44 was bad with hot start issues. He had a V10 (blown) dually that he was going to put the cummins in. He wanted me to buy both. If he had a manual tranny in the deal I would have took it. But I skipped it. The usual diagram that many of us use has some errors in the pin names and functions. From all my VP research I know many of the details of these pin functions and thought…

  9. Hey ya'll,i am back with an update.:banghead: So after a year of having no symptoms since 1/28/11, i am having symptoms again. Not really sure what is going on. I have not gone thru any of the routine troubleshooting steps just yet. I am back for some more schooling!!!! So now the situation is that i am having dead pedal above 70 MPH. I can punch the gas on the highway, tranny goes thru its automatic gear shifts, than if i try to accelerate above 70, nothing. --- Update to the previous post... please read other thread!

I went to smog my truck in CA and when the tech plugged in to the OBD2 his computer could not communicate with my truck. He asked if i had a tuner or something on the truck. After 3 shops all unable to read the OBD2 i am left scratching my head. Would flashing ECM or PCM help? Need to pass ASAP! The truck has never been tuned. but did have the ECM reflashed in 2019 by Auto computer specialists truck runs great. no codes. Any help would be great.

Guys I’m new to this, My truck (2000 ram Cummins) is throwing p0122 on the dash, and p0222 on the scam tool. Just changed and cleaned the battery terminals, also changed the tps, now I’m lost. I did the whole disconnected battery’s and when I turn it on the p0222 is still on. When I drive it, the truck jerks when I’m just cruising, if I stomp on the fuel it drives fine. WhT do y’all think It could be? Anything helps

I received my ECM back from Auto Computer Specialist. Was told NOT to hook it up until I found the short to ground. Of the things I checked was the grid heater solenoids. My voltmeter was reading 12v across the big lugs on both of them. Thinking it was bad, I replaced them with OEM type, NO Ford solenoids. I am still reading 12v across the two bug lugs. TPS is NOT hooked up. ECM is in but NOT hooked up. The relay in the PDC is NOT installed. The two smaller wires on each solenoid ARE hooked up. I have found and cleaned up 4 grounds in the engine compartment. i have not had the alternator checked yet. Any help will be greatly…

That's what this truck has needed since I bought it, at least it seems that way. I have 118K on the rig and Last week, I checked out the vibration when slowing and found a seized lobe on the rear pinion u-joint (Napa 330 for 3 joint shaft). Only cost 20 bucks and about an hours time though. Today, come out of work to a puddle of PS fluid from a 8 month old box leaking out of the pinion seal- I've been running a box/steering brace for 4 of those months. Speakers quit the week before that, oh and the parking brake tension cam froze up on the drivers side last weekend and it wouldn't release. Windshield got smacked by a rock a few weeks before that (can't help that though…

  14. Finally got the vp44 plumbed, primed, bled, and wired. As my son was cranking the engine to bleed the hp lines, I got this psssh, psssh, pssssh noise.... Now, I'll let you know what isn't done yet on this 'several fixes at once' Intake is still open to the world. Air horn is not there, along with any form of intake pipe or turbo. Radiator is not in, steering gear is not in, Lines are dangling from the pump. I did allow the engine to 'fire' for a couple seconds after tightening the hp lines....just to confirm my 'new' pump is a runner... and that part is good. Back to the weird noise: I would swear the noise is coming out the …

Just picked up a 98 24v that is having the typical TC lock/unlock issues BUT also sometimes the TC is not unlocking at all and when coming to a stop it stalls the engine out. Put it in park or neutral it fires back up and then you have to play the throttle to get it rolling or it will just stall out again also just driving around I can tell the TC is randomly locked because the engine will really struggle to pick up speed (sometimes I can tell TC is unlocked and everything feels fine). I haven't done any testing yet but from what I can see there are several wires wrapped with tinfoil , I know it has a new alternator, new lift pump, new interstate batteries(connections loo…

When I first installed my gauge and turned key to on (no start) my gauge would briefly go to 5-7 PSI for the prime prior to normal start. I had to close my needle valve a bit to control some gauge needle jumping and noticed that for the key on/no start prime I now just get a quick movement up to maybe 2 psi, should I be worried about this? Running pressure are above minimums at idle and driving. Thanks.

Good afternoon everyone, hope you all are doing well. I have a pretty good idea but wanted to get some more opinions on my VP44 issues. I immediately get 0216 and 1693 after I clear the codes and start the truck. Here is the good trail.... It drives just fine unloaded and even pulling when it's cool. but when the heat starts to build, it seems to heat soak and then starts cutting power. The hotter is gets (truck and weather) the worse it does it. I drove it unloaded to work at 4 am this morning, ran like a dream. I never have less that 14 PSI, mostly 15-16 of fuel pressure. Seems to me it's pretty clear the magic computer box on the VP44 is getting hot and crap…

Summer is about here... Time to look into a few things... Cooling system flushing New thermostat Power washing the radiators and coolers out New fan belt Check the freon pressures in your air conditioning Check the radiator hoses Check the idler pulley bearings including the fan Inspect the fan clutch for leaking oil Time to check over the truck and prepare for a nice hot summer. So don't neglect your truck take the time and inspect these different areas to be sure you have a enjoyable summer either towing, RV'ing, or just making back and forth to work.

  19. So now that I got my RV275s in and tapped the pump I have been running on level 3X3 to save my auto. The other day I started watching the EGTs and empty going up a bit of a grade I stomped it and my EGTs came up to 1200, thats the highest I have ever seen the gauge go but never had pump tapped and only ran on level 1 before. My boost was around 30ish and I was going about 75-80mph in a hurry. I have noticed since the RV275s that the EGTs seem to climb higher before the boost starts to come on. It will hit 800-900 and barely have any boost building. Does that seem normal? What level do you guys tow on? My trailer is a 30 footer and 9800lbs. I don't think I have a boost…
