  2. So, before you guys tell me to search if this has been answered before, believe me, I've searched this forum and the other Cummins forums to the point where I can't even think anymore I'm soo tired. I've been having torque converter lockups for a long time on my 2001. I've done every rewire out there, even bought the "sponge" (capacitor) from ATS to compliment their transmission and it still doesn't like being in between 30 and 40, you give it any throttle and it jumps back to 3rd and let off and its back into 4th... I've long suspected the alternator but it always tests clean, I'll get to that in a moment. So this weekend, I decided due to excessi…

I originally posted this on Cummins Forum, any thoughts or ideas would be very helpful. Truck very intermittently (probably twice in the last month), typically in traffic, at low RPM and low throttle input will start rev ing up to about 2200 RPM and then die. If I immediately try to restart it it will not catch. If i turn the key off and let it sit for a 10 seconds or so it will start back up no issue. So low RPM, low throttle pressure it will start pulling, it will gradually pull until about 2200 RPM and then die. Manual truck so once i notice the issue i push the clutch in, once i push the clutch in it will rev to up to about 2200 RPM over about two secon…

So here I am again.... When I'm driving my 5 speed, usually in 5th and highway speeds, I put the pedal down and the rpm's go up but the truck doesn't accelerate. It doesn't do it all the time and it does it mostly in 5th gear. I know this is probably an easy diagnosis but I'm no mechanic so let's here some ideas!!!Thanks in advance!!!

Good morning everyone! Here’s the story, might be a little long but I want to give every detail so it makes it easier, bought an 01 24valve auto off a used car lot not running dirt cheap. Guy didn’t seem to understand these trucks. Only mods are a fass DDRP, nothing else truck has 140k, and a new reman trans, very carefully inspected truck and no prior meatball repairs or hacked wiring. upon first arriving at the lot here’s what I did. - trucks battery terminals were beat/ corroded, managed to get them tight and partially clean -found fuel relay missing out of fuse box under hood, swapped with horn relay and truck fired, ram very poorly but was enough to get on …

  6. Hi Guys:For some time now my truck shudders with my QUAD XZT+ programmer. Someone told me this problem was fixed at the factory and that it was available in the download section of Quad's webpage which I did, but the problem is still there especially at lower speeds. Any ideas? Thanks,Arcwelder

Here is a good one I have been fighting, truck shuts off like you turned the key off while driving but wait a few seconds and it starts right back up, but if you try to just start it back upwithout waiting it will just crank. No codes, doesn't crank like it ran out of fuel just starts back up. Could it be a ground? New vp44, App, alternator. Yesterday day on a 300 mile trip it did it more often like something had to cool down. I'm thinking maybe computer?

Installed new torque converter and valve body. Everything worked great for first 600 or so miles. Now, truck will immediately stall out when shifting from park to either reverse or drive. Sometimes can blip the throttle and keep it me dying. No other shifting or searching issues that usually plague these trucks once I can get the truck rolling. Wondering if the new converter is locking up in park? Is that even possible?

  9. Ok so I recently rebuilt my motor and put it back in the truck this week. I got it started fine and to idle but the oil pressure, tachometer, and thermostat gauges were not working. (Oil pressure is fine though I have a mechanical gauge) Did the cluster test and everything worked fine. So I disconnected the batteries and cleaned the 2 grounds to the motor. Put dielectric geese on grounds and tightened. Reconnected the batteries and now my lift pump will not kick in. As well as the gauges still not working. I have double and triple checked that I have everything connected to the correct spots and grounds put back on the motor where they were. I need this truck running befo…

Well i'm back again with more issues, I've been away from the internet recently as the truck has kept me very busy reinstalling the interior and finishing up the turbo/exhaust install. However my truck has been doing very good the last few days with no major issues (still leaking oil somewhere that I have not discovered yet, or possibly PS fluid). On the way home today my truck began to stutter like it was being starved of fuel and then it kick back on, if I get back into the pedal it happens again like it wants to die. No trouble codes and my fuel press read 15+psi under all conditions. I've replaced literally every sensor I can think of at this point (MAP, O…

Having a problem my 01 dodge. It's started awhile back with what seems like a miss at idle after driving. It doesn't effect performance at all. Takes fuel fine just has rough idle. Have changed fuel filter. But the other day after driving I shut it off went to start it back and it would start then die. Lift pump cycles when keys turned on and also runs when bumping starter. Gauge shows 25psi when running but won't start. I let it set for awhile and it started right up and runs fine. This truck is basically stock except for Diablo power puck. Don't know where to start. No CEL. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  12. So, I was driving home and the truck was running great after having replaced the Governor Pressure Solenoid in the 47re and then suddenly I lose power, truck won’t go above 1500 rpm and Check Engine Light rears it’s ugly head. I limp home and start looking into it. At first I would get no code at all, truck starts fine, idles well at 850ish but touch the pedal and it shoots straight to 1500 RPM and stays there. Let go it goes right back to 850ish and idles fine. I eventually got the damn thing to give me the code P1689....not what I wanted to see form what I have read. So, I changed my fuel filter, checked my connections to the VP44 and made sure t…

@Mopar1973Man please put this up top for me. If you think it should be somewhere else, go ahead and move it. My truck was stolen last night in lakewood. I'm sure most of you know what it looks like, but here's a couple pictures. One of the passenger windows was busted out to gain access, but I have no idea how they got it running. Thank you

  14. 1999 dodge Cummins 2500 truck has 168k with a DDT tranny installed about 120k miles ago . It has a smart controller installed to keep the torque converter locked up for the BD exhaust brake to slow me down while hauling my slide in camper . Third / forth gear lockup at 50 mph kicks out at 30 mph. 275 hp Rv injectors and edge set on high about 300 hp. Tranny built for this much horsepower. This my set up. 10 amp fuse in PDF blows when key is turned on. Has code p0753. Relay is good horn test. And pin 21 on the PCM READS 33.3 OHMS. Pan has not been down yet. I need good advice on what to do next ?

  15. 2001 Ram 2500 6 speed. 240K miles. Intake, Exhaust, Pacbrake PXRB, Bosch RV275 injectors 20K miles old, FASS 95 at 14/15 PSI. Re-man vp44 of unknown millage or manufacture. MoparMan high idle switch. No tune or engine other mods. Within the last 1000 miles I have noticed a new problem with my truck. With the exhaust brake active coming to a stop when I push in the clutch the engine will stall. Like the brake is backing up the engine too much. I don't think its actually the brake causing the problem though, just making it more apparent by stalling the engine. In my trouble shooting process I have found the symptoms depend on when the truck is rolling or not. It doesn'…

  16. Hey fellas, I know it's been a while since I have posted! Been extremely busy lately at work! But any ways my brother has been driving the "beast" alot more lately than I have, since I bought the 06. Well he tells me it has been kinda of spuddering a couple of times but it clears up, well today he was driving it hauling a trailer and 30 hp new holland tractor. He says he was cruising about 45 mph and all of the sudden it spudders, and starts knocking a little and immidately shut it down! He also said that it's bellowing coal black smoke! Talked to MoparMan, and we both feel I have an injector problem. Going to tow it in tonight and start tearing down to see!

  17. hey guys i currently have an issue with my truck, i recently replaced the intake pump and injection pump and it has been fine all the way up until now . yesterday i was sitting at a red light and the truck started pouring out black smoke and felt like it wanted to take off. so i put the truck into neutral and when to put it back into drive then it shut off, it did this about 8 times then i got frustrated and held my foot on the gas and put it into drive and took off. it does feel like its under powered now almost like in limp mode.

I finally found the vibration that has been eluding me in the truck for the last 10 months. I went through all possible things to check and found that it was a bad brake drum. I think that it was a deformed casting from it's conception. I had to go through 3 new brake drums to finally find a good one but now the truck rides on the interstate as good as my wife's Town and Country. I am doing my happy dance and now it is time for a cold one. Thanks to all who offered suggestions along the way. Many times you never hear what the cure was when someone has a problem so the reason for this message will help others who may be trying to find the vibrations problems …

  19. I have an '01 Dodge diesel 3/4 ton that I rebuilt the engine on and it started right up after bleeding the fuel lines it started right up and ran fine. One of the batteries was dead and I replaced it tonight and went to start it up it just turned over like it wasn't getting any fuel. The overhead display read "CCD" and the engine light was on. The scanner pulled P0122 and P1698 codes. P0122 looks like throttle positon sensor and I can't find the P1698. Could replacing a battery killed the TPS sensor or was it just coincidental? I'd appreciate any assistance or insight anyone has on this.

Ok so i turn the ingition switch on and The dash lights are dead, no radio, no wipers. no instrument panel, fuel pump does not cycle on for the normal two seconds, and the wait to start light dose not come on. tail lights work, head lights work, hazard lights work heater fan comes on and blows air. When i turn the ignition switch to the start position the blower turns off and that is it. My three gages on the pillar light up when the ignition switch is turned on but the have no power and do not light. I checked the fuses and i am thinking that the ignition switch may be bad. not sure how to check just a guess really.
