Just finished an 8 hour drive and I'm noticing my truck is lacking power at operating temperature, used to have no issues with taking off in 2nd when I had a FASS DDRP and stock injectors but now it struggles taking off in first while at operating temps. *My fuel pressure at idle used to be around 9-10 at WOT it would drop to 0. This was when I first got the truck and knew nothing about it a few years ago now I have a FASS 150 with a sump and the gauge sits at 15psi and 14psi under WOT*. But I ran it like that for a couple of months just thinking above 0 was good enough. Fast forward to knowing what I know now, I'm pretty certain that I've damaged it and now I've got a w…

  2. I installed a set of RV275's about two months ago. follwed Mike's instructions here and the install went well except for some weeping at the head. 3 of them at first and they just progressed to all of them leaking and not weeping. Also my return tee was leaking and I put new orings in it about two weeks after the injectors. In my infinite wisdom i did not even think about the bolt on the back of the head:doh:. Dont know why I just did not. Well it was still leaking and getting worse. So I went home this week end and tore it all apart and re did everything. This time I loosened the injectors and tightened the crossover tubes first and then tightened the injectors down.It i…

Hey guys sitting here freezing, thinking about summer and truck pulling. Wondering if there are any good suggestions for a front weight ballast on the 2nd gen trucks, something that can handle 1500lbs and be removed from the truck. Thanks!

Alright, so she's back at it again. Probably my fault this time. Any who, on the way back from North Dakota a few days ago, I was outside Pueblo when I heard what I can only describe as a bearing seizing. A loud squalling like noise that shook the truck, and I felt it through the shifter. It wasn't constant. Just a quick noise, then gone. After everything that's happened, I was on red alert. Turned off my stereo, and kept driving, listening. Found an off ramp, and pulled off to see if anything had froze, was leaking, etc. Nothing. So I jumped back on i25 and headed south. She did it again. Loud quick noise. At this point I prayed nothing seized up completely before I got …

So my 2000 started throwing some odd codes. It's showing a P1698 and a P1689 . No Trans bus messages and egr actuator.... But here is why they're weird. My truck is a 5 speed from factory, and is pre-EGR. Any ideas what could cause this?

  7. Hello all I am new to this forum and hoping to find some insight. I have a 98.5 with the following mods,Edge juice with attitude, turbo modified by Gillette diesel, 275 RV injectors AFE intake and 4" turbo back. What i am seeing is some weird temp issues. Truck unloaded sitting at a stop light will start building temp for no reason starts at 180 and sometimes will go up to 190 or higher, ambient temp plays no factor will do it on a 55 deg morning or a 90 deg day. Differnt from one stop light to the next. Took to my local shop that helps me out strapped down to dyno duplicated problem but here is where it gets weird, one pull the truck wont break 190 with a 60% load applied…

  8. I have a 2000 Ram 3500 Cab & Chassis NV4500. When I got the truck, it had a P-pump converted big turbo 24v built for pulling in it, but I bought the truck and not the engine. I pulled that engine and bought a wrecked 1999 dodge 2500 that ran fine but they needed the VP44 off the engine. So I did the engine swap on this truck, pulled the p-pump motor out and put the stock 2000 engine in it. I used the ECM from the 5 speed truck I currently have and a new VP44. I put a new MAP sensor, APPS, and IAT on the engine while it was out to make things easier. The problem that I have, is that the engine goes into a "limp mode" or defuels. I know the 2000 doesn't have a limp mode…

Ok I can't seem to figure out what the noise my engine makes. I just installed my edge comp box yesterday (Not wire tapped) to make sure everything was going to work properly when I do decide to tap the pump. Now when the engine is down in the lower rpms and i stab the throttle I get a slight loss of power, and a terrible "grunting" sound. To me it sounds like the timing is WAY off from what is should be, But as soon as I build a couple pounds of boost the horrible noise goes away and the power comes on instantly. I have no codes, smarty is set to stock, FP is 15wot 19idling. IP is 2 1/2 months old. I thought I had read somewhere that if the MAP sensor voltage is way low…

  10. Started by Oklahoma Cummins,

So I bought a 2nd gen, had high miles on it and could tell had been sitting. Upon buying I started having troubles, after driving it home 6 hours away I started trying to get it back to 100%. Narrowed down the first job to being bad injection pump, so I bought a new one and replaced it. Seemed to have fixed the issue and was running good, the truck doesn’t get driven daily it’s my farm truck, I started driving it a lot in the last month and when driving the truck is fueling really weird. #1. It does have hard start after sitting over night. After that starts fine all day. #2. When driving and maintaining speed say 1700 rpm you hear the turbo and fee…

Had some weird things going on coming back from Atlanta last night. Stuck in slooow traffic thru down town the engine jumped in idle to a bit over 1000 rpm. It also started surging about 250 more rpm up down in an even pattern for about 10 seconds. Did it it again 3 or 4 times getting thru town. The temp gauge dropped out also. Matter of fact it would only do it while the temp was out. Not sure how they are related. This happened a few more times on the rest of the trip except very little surging but had the elevated idle. It also only did this at very low speed or idle. Sitting at my sons work waiting on him so I can have a warm dry place to check it out. So I pull…

For about the last month or so, sometimes when I start my truck, it will idle at 1200-1300 RPM, and it just hangs there, never tones down. (no high idle switch on my truck) Other times it idles at 800-850. I've done the APPS reset a few times, it will help for a few days. Then it's back to high idle once and a while. Month ago I had auto zone scan my truck, no codes. Yesterday coming home from the other side of the state, coming down the mountain into Denver, truck started running funny, pedal was not responding. I would mash the throttle and RPM would jump up like the clutch was slipping, but truck was not increasing in speed. Few mi…

  14. Today I happen to notice this larger puddle of oil under the truck. Looking underneath it was coming from the PS pump and dripping at a rate of a drop every 30 seconds or so. But why...? The engine had been off for a day and no one was ever in the truck at any time doing anything like trying to turn the steering wheel or touching the brakes. Thinking a hose let go, I eventually came to the conclusion that for whatever reason the PS fluid level raised up high enough to spill out the top and make a mess...with the engine off no less. Yes, the fluid level was very high. Then an hour later when I was parking the 5th wheel back in its spot I felt this weird b…

This will be a little difficult to describe. When I first get the truck rolling in the morning, I'm hearing a rubbing sound which sounds somewhat rotational, in that it is not constant. It seems to be coming left front. It started a few weeks ago after I changed my crankshaft position sensor, where the only thing I had done was remove the started and reinstall. I have not lifted front end up yet to check wheels, but this noise stops after a few hundred feet, and seems to be only when the truck is not warmed up. If you have any tips please let me know so I can start checking into some things. The starter is brand new rebuild as of yesterday (warrantied one went out yesterd…

  16. So as it says, more weirdo readings on my quadzilla. The temperature was going up to 204°, then would go to -40,then back to 204. I figured my cts was junk, so I replaced it. Didn't pay much attention to it these three hell filled weeks with it. Well, I drove home to NM from North Dakota yesterday, and noticed it was still doing the same thing. Up to 204,then -40. Then back to 204. Is this normal? Or?

Alright you have the normal road noise ( tires on the pavement )the last week or so I have what I can only describe as the same road noise but it is just louder. It sounds like it is coming from the front center of the truck As you accelerate it gets louder. I finally got the boat out for the first time this year and pulled it to the lake. The ramp is unbelievably steep so I just put it in 4wd to drive up the hill. As I am going up the hill I hear what I think is the safety chain bouncing up and hitting the frame of the trailer. I go fishing and then put the boat back on the trailer put it in 4wd and start to hear the clanging again Get up to the top of ramp and realize i…

Hey guys I'm kinda new here. I been reading for months and now I have questions lol. So I got a couple 12v trucks which I love and now I bought a 24v. So far I like the truck but the electrical issues are driving me nuts. My truck still has the warranty installed in tank lift pump. I recently had the vp die so I put a good one on. Changed filter as well. Truck ran mint after. The next day i get this rough idle. So i check fuel pressure its around 13psi and never goes under 10. Scanned it and did the key trick. I have a 1693 with key trick and two 1688 with the scanner. EGT low and EGT high...there is no egt on this truck soo im confused there.. the truck runs mint just a…

  19. A few days ago I posted that I was hearing a 'rumbling' sound coming from my truck after starting off slowly, after the first start in the morning. A buddy of mine walked beside the truck the other morning when I left from work, and told me it was coming from the front of the engine compartment. I had already determined that the wheels, bearings, brakes were normal. I looked at the belt on my fuel boss, and it was very loose (the instructions for the fuel boss state not to have it too tight). Anyway, it was loose to the point where I could almost slip it off the pulleys. I got to thinking that maybe in the morning when the belt is stiff, it might be jumping the cogs on th…

I've been having problems with my 02 2500 where I'll start having dead pedal issues after driving for 20 or so minutes. No codes, nothing obvious. I've got a fairly new APPS on the truck, the VP44 seems to be good, its always had good fuel pressure, pulls good up to 3200 rpm, no white smoke, no starting issues. Also unplugged my adrenaline just to make sure it wasn't being screwy. The only thing I've really be able to narrow down is that the farther I drive, the further off the speed reading on my adrenaline will be, and eventually it will start spiking up to like 150+ mph and that's when I start having dead pedal issues. Anyone have any idea what could cause…
