I was coming home yesterday towing my trailer and a car on it cruising at 70 mph in cruise all off a sudden the rear tires locked up and I skidded to a stop leaving a nice long set of dually tracks on the road. Luckily I wasn't on to big of a highway. Anyway initially I thought rear end was locked up but that's not the case. The trucked would not pull forward at all, but when the roll back pulled the truck backwards it rolled smooth and then when he pulled it forward after pulling it backwards it pulled fine no issues. Unloaded the truck and I drove it into the shop. Now I haven't broke into anything yet the driveshaft doesnt seem twisted all the u joints are still tight …

Approximately a year ago my lift pump(Raptor)quit working because my ECM was misbehaving(WTS light only working part time). I hot-wired lift pump through a switch as I needed truck. I have since had ECM repaired and all is good, however I would like to know what the folks here would suggest I do with lift pump power. Should I hook it back up to ECM, through a relay of course, or should I use @IBMobile ASD wiring article for lift pump power? I’m kinda apprehensive about hooking to ECM again but that would be simplest. Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

Finished the auto to manual swap , put RV 275 injectors in and a comp box , now it's turbo time. It's a daily driver that will pull a 5th wheel. I have considered a he 351 cw and plumbing it on , Would appreciate any advice on a turbo choice . Thank you and have a great day.

  4. With all of the problems people been having lately with trannys, at least some I'm sure, I decided to not wait any longer and ordered some coolers and filter kit for my transmission. Currently I run 7 qts of Amsoil synchromesh (http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/transmission-fluid/manual/manual-synchromesh-transmission-fluid-5w-30/?code=MTFQT-EA) for about 4 years and 20k ml now. Heard different opinions on how much to overfill, some say at least a qt some say 8-9 qts. This has probably been beaten to deaf by now, but also some time has gone by, so hoping for some input from guys that use Fast coolers (http://www.genosgarage.com/product/fc-6-spd-dg/transmission-coolers…

Want to see what you guys think on this subject. Couple of things, one is why do we need to run atf+4 and not something like even 10-30 motor oil or some similar weight hydraulic fluid. And two I'm in process of messing with my leaky tcase from rear output seal. I changed it for the 3rd time now, but this time I changed tail bushing too, it got deformed up on install at the oil drain grove, at least driveshaft feels tight now. It did have a drip after first trip but now it's seems ok. Some residual fluid from lubing it on install maybe. So I just want to flush tcase for some reason. Question is what do you think would happen if anything if I mix matched differe…

  6. I have a 1998 Dodge Ram 24V Cummins 3500 2WD Dually. Yesterday I moved the little selector on my fuel filter housing and pushed it down releasing a little diesel. I stopped after about 5 seconds. I did that with the truck off. After about 2 hours I went to leave and the truck turned over, fired and then stalled. Since then it won't crank. I have watched some YouTube videos about priming it, some people saying I let air in the system other saying my VP is toast and honestly I am new to Dodge Cummins so I am not familiar with what to do. This is what I've done so far: 1. Turned the truck over about 45-50 times, it won't fire. I killed both batteries…

I know this topic can get a little heated so I'm really not trying to start that up, just want to gather some info. It's time for another oil change and I'm doing it myself. My dealer raised their prices so it no longer makes sense to take it to them. Here's my questions 1. Currently have 15w-40 dino oil and looking to swap to synthetic. I've only seen Amsoil that has a synthetic 15w-40, does anyone else? 2. If I do put something like Rotella T6 5w-40, what's the chances of making leaks worse or appear? 3. Should I even worry about running a lighter weight oil when my current climate never see's 0* or below temps?

Fuel filter change is coming up, have the fass routed into the factory canister so I can keep the WIF light. can I use the canister without the filter since I already have the fass for filters? Anyone ever tried it?

Ok, a little backstory- the truck has a build date of 8/99, auto 2500 with 370k miles I bought this truck recently with a bad transmission but had a reman in the bed. I dropped the reman off at a tranny shop to have them check it out and picked up a single disc torque converter while I had it out. The tranny checked out ok so I swapped the transmissions. On initial install, I only had 1,2,3 shifts with no od and no lockup. I dropped the pans on both and noticed the pressure sensors were different. I swapped the od solenoid, pressure sensor, and wiring harness from the original tranny to my new transmission. By doing so, I was able to pick up od and lockup but not it…

  10. Does anyone know the part number for the NP241 DHD tailshaft bushing? I've been to the parts stores and the dealer but neither could help. I've seen a few versions online but I'm hoping to have the correct part delivered the first time. The reason I'm doing this is because I've replaced the seal three times. The last time I researched and researched and determined the correct one since all have slightly different shaft size ID which is weird but nonetheless... So after installing the seal I thought was best the leak was gone for a long time. Then...as usual, I took the 5th wheel out for a camping trip and once again the tailshaft started puking like a stu…

I just purchased an 01 2500 6speed 4x4 Cummins and I’ve noticed after driving it for a few weeks now that if I start in 1st gear, let up on the clutch a couple inches it quickly engages and gets moving no issue. If I start in 2nd gear, it starts to engage at the same distance from the floor but as I keep letting the pedal out it doesn’t seem to grab any more until I get to the top of the pedal travel then it grabs fully and takes off at the last little bit of clutch pedal travel. Starting in 2nd there isn’t any pedal travel after the truck is fully in 2nd gear. Also at rest there is an inch or 2 of free play in the pedal, I can lift up on the pedal with my foot as it is j…

  12. Having a little trouble finding this answer. My service manual says 89 in lbs for the clamping bolt but nothing for the shoulder. I'm assuming it's the same but I just want to make sure. Pic for reference but I'm sure y'all know what I'm talking about Also, just realized I forgot my in lb torque wrench that goes up that high at my house an hour away. And I don't have a torque wrench that goes to 8 ft lbs. So either I can torque it to 80 in lbs or 10ft lbs with what I currently have. I'm assuming it's not going to hurt anything giving it a little more on my inch lb torque wrench or going up to 10 ft lbs on my other torque wrench. Any insight would be appreciated

What would be the culprit(s) for getting 1.45v at the VT/WHT wire right off the ecm for the camshaft position sensor.

I have just recently got my hands on a 2000 ram 2500 with 24v and 5 speed tranny. I drove the truck for a few days and it threw code p0122 and p0234, had diagnostics ran and replaced the apps. Drove for 1 day with no engine light and then it cam back on with the same codes. Got them cleared, checked voltage on apps and got it to .51 dc. Drove truck again and it done good for a few days then the light came back on with p0122, p0500, and p1693. I’ve checked voltage again on apps and it was .39 and couldn’t get it to set around .51, I’ve checked all wiring and grounds and it all looks good. truck is completely stock as far as I’m concerned beside a cold air intake. Please he…

So I pulled into the driveway on lunch and noticed my thermostat was at 240°f. I shut the truck down and pop the hood to see if anything was out of the ordinary. Then I noticed the belt was off all chewed up so I went to the parts store grabbed another belt going to put it on and notice the pulley was wobbling. So I started thinking where in the hell did my bolts go!?!? And that's when it struck me..... I realized the bigger question was how the hell do I get this fan off this bracket that I have now remove as a complete unit from my engine

So I've been trying to get my truck going, and it's been hell. I bought a set of 150hp injector tips, and used the pop tester at school to set the pop off pressures (all were at or just under 4500psi,stock recommended pressure), put them in along with new o-rings, and copper washers. I got the truck started, and it idles great. But as soon as I roll on the throttle, it pops, sputters, tons of smoke. Its been doing this, and I've pulled it apart about three times checking to make sure I didn't rip or tear any o-rings during assembly. So far everything looks good, everything is torqued to spec. Fuel pressure is a steady 20 psi. Do I suspect the injection …

Hey guys! I have been lurking for a while and figured I would join up to see if you had any insight to a problem I am having. I have a 2001 2500 ram with a Cummins and a 47re, it has an S&B intake, a 4" mbrp exhaust and a fass 100 lp. Other then these things the truck is completely stock with 230,000kms (143,000 miles) never been tuned. I do not have gauges yet and I know that fuel pressure is the first thing you`re going to tell me to check, gauges are on the way hopefully be here in the next week or two (thanks covid). The issues I am having are low power while climbing hills on the highway (unloaded I do not pull anything with the truck), here in eastern Canada we …

I bought a 1998 Dodge ram 3500 with a 24 valve Cummins manual transmission 4x4 the problem is the ABS light flashes the entire time as soon as you turn the key on the wait to start takes a second to come on about 10 to 30 seconds when it does come on, it only comes on for about 3 seconds and then you hear the pump come on for maybe 2 seconds it is a aftermarket air dog pump it fires right up every time but my RPM gauge falls to zero after 10 seconds it has no loss of power or anything unusual after it falls to zero changed the crank sensor and checked all wiring and it is fine the PCM has been repaired and it will do this every time I can turn it off and turn it back on a…

  20. @Mopar1973Man Hello , my name is Eric I’m new to this whole diesel thing so go easy on me I’ll try to giv as much info as I can. I bought this truck beginning of February and it needed some much needed tlc the kid that had it before me left it it kinda rough shape. I replaced a lot and a new coat of paint and some body work to fix the rust, new lift pump and a new tuner with a monitor to top it off. (Edge juice with attitude cts2 monitor). Recently I’ve had some issues I can’t quite explain , a couple of weeks ago the truck would act like it was in limp mode it was almost like it was stuck in 3rd gear maybe and if I would step on it I would get no power, …
