These ford seals may or may not work with sertain valve springs, be sure to measure all Id/od before committing. So I'm in process of figuring out why some of my seals are tore/smashed. Finding out that new style seals 03 and up may work on our 2nd gen. They are held in place by spring and can't come up from too much boost etc. I've spoken with https://ussealparts.com and they have both styles at great prices, although top hat style is listed for 03 and newer. The difference I believe is in ID where it slides over guide, sounds like top hat is slightly bigger but that should not affect the sealing capabilities as valve still same diameter. I ordered both style…

I have got a weird problem maybe one of you can chime in with a answer on my predicament. I have a 2001 3500 5.9 with a starting issue. I already replaced the IP and got it started with the help of Doug from Blue Chip following his directions. However, it will only run with the C3 wiring connector unplugged from the PCM?? It has np power and the odometer reads NO BUSS due to the C3 plug unplugged. I am trying to trace the wires from the PCM in the C3 wiring and have not found anything yet. How would I know if a wire is bad on one of these wires? Also could it be something else? Any suggestions would be appreciated!! Thanks! Steve

On the way home the other day and my truck started to sputter, on and off with the power basically had a mind of its own, peddle completely dropping off. Threw a bunch of codes, alot of out of voltage codes and of course the P0606 code. Temp gauge would also bounce around.Where is the best place to get a remanded ECM? Below is a video I found on YouTube of another 24v doing the same thing.

Just picked up the truck from a buddy, it’s a 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 24v Cummins. Sold it to me for a good deal with one problem code p0336 no tach, causing a lack of power. He told me he replaced the sensor with many different brands, and got them ecm tested and the tach worked on bench. The oreillys brand sensor works the best, works for 3 seconds and tach dies. He called a mopar friend of his and he told him to get a cummins brand crank and cam sensor. I got a cummins crankshaft sensor and tach didn’t move. Recorded live data from my code scanner and my OBD2 is able to read my RPMs, but nothing on the dash. I’m stumped F56A5B3A-DC90-4989-9821-EF45AA449DC0.MP4

Hey guys, Most of you know that I recently did A LOT of work on my power steering system, including attempting to rebuild the gear box, which failed forcing me to replace it with a reman. Anyway my trucks steering has never been what I would call very bad, but it's always had the usual 10-2 dead spot. The new box and shaft and even Rock Solid Ram Steering Fix bushing did nothing to help that, though the bushing did get rid of the clunking. I am also guilty of sanding the bushing a little too much to prevent binding in cold weather and so I still have a little movement in the shaft. Anyway I got tired of the dead spot and read up on the "over center adjustment". I ti…

Where to start.. 2001 dodge 2500 144,000 miles BHAF, Mia silencer ring, 5in exhaust, 35 in tires. I just bought this truck 2 weeks ago went and test drove it everything good but the abs light was on he said he would get it fixed before he gave it to me and it was but now the speedo is stuck on 26mph but will go back to 0 when i turn the truck off. I tried the cluster test hoping it would fix it or something but still the same thing and it read no codes during that. Now with the codes i have been doing my homework and looking around to try and figure this out myself but not to sure where the best place to start with so much wrong. I did thi…

Hi all, So I'm getting ready to do an oil change and I realized that I'm paying almost as much for Valvoline Premium Blue Extreme 5w-40, which is full synthetic(not sure if it's group 3 or 4 though) as I would be for some of the Amsoil products which I know are group 4 base stocks. So I'm looking into switching to Amsoil. I'd like opinions on which version to use and if I should get a bypass filtration kit while I'm at it. I know they have several different diesel oils and I don't know which one I should use. I originally went with the Valvoline PBX because I wanted the 5w-40 and full synth for the cold temps up here. I can definitely hear when the oil gets to the mo…

Starting last week I have been having issues getting my truck to go into gear starting from a dead stop. I try to put it into gear and it feels like I am hitting a brick wall. After a few tries it usually goes but it takes some force. I also have noticed that the drive shaft jumps when I am putting it into gear. I have no idea what problem I am dealing with, does anybody have a clue? My only guess right now is that the clutch is not fully disengaging, possibly clutch master of slave cylinder issues? any help would be appreciated.

Hey All, I would like to find a simple, inexpensive and automated way to adjust when torque converter lockup occurs. I am not interested in off the shelf transmission controllers. I have an electronics and industrial automation background. I am interested in hearing ideas that pertain to a DIY install and long term reliability, as well as ease of use for someone else driving the truck. I have 3.54 gears and 35" tires. I'm fully aware what that means for my final drive ratio, and I'm not entertaining a regear at this time. Please don't suggest obvious large mechanical changes. The truck has a lockup switch, which I generally don't use. W…

Unfortunately I found this code today while doing my normal checkup on my truck. I have a fuel pressure gauge in the mail right now and should be here middle of the week. And I am installing a fass 150 GPh pump hopefully tomm afternoon if all goes well.Could the wiring on top of the vp44 be shorted and throwing the code? Take it out and look at the wiring? I'm pretty good at saudering is this a job I can do if I see the problem or is there another quicker way to test the IP? Im new to this forum all advice is greatly appreciated thanks ahead of time!

Ok this is my first time posting here so if I'm missing something please let me know. I'm relatively new to the diesel world but have read multiple posts on here as well as other sites about replacing a head gasket. My first question is do you need to resurface the block in addition to the head when doing a hg replacement on these 24v cummins? Also Is it common for the head to be cracked at 200k This is my dd and I noticed that I am leaking oil right where the head and block meet. I cleaned it up and drove it some more and it definitely looks like it is leaking from the head gasket. I would need to replace it during a weekend and …

It appears my lift pump is dead. I pulled the relay and jumpered the correct connectors, heard contacts click in, but no pump running. I'm on a budget (= low funding) and would like a decent quality unit that can bolt in, no huge modifications to my fuel system. Also, a recommended fuel pressure gauge installation set up would be appreciated.

I know that fuel line size has been beat to death here and everyone SWEARS you HAVE to run 1/2" line to get any performance at all. I am wondering why that is so. Think about this for a minute. Assuming you get 10 MPG fuel mileage, most of you get at least that much. At 10 MPG you use 6 gallons of fuel at 60 MPH. At 5 MPG you would use 12 gallons per hour and at 2.5 MPG!!! you would use 24 gallons per hour. Now, has anyone ever taken the line off of the VP-44 and put it into a gallon container and bypassed the pump for one minute? I am guessing that it would about fill the container in a minute. I have not tried it yet but I will once I relocate my pump. That would be 60 g…

Hey guys , having an issue with the oil pressure , when I start the truck Its at 40psi cold idle, when its somwhat warm its 70-80 at 2500rpm. When the truck is at full operating temp its at 20-25 psi at idle and 40-50 psi at 2500 rpm. i have checked sending unit, removed it and placed the manual guage on for these readings. I have also checked the oil press regulator on top of the oil filter mounting bracket, the spring seemed ok and the plunger moves freely in the guide. I am about to pull the oil cooler and replace the oil relief valve ( i think thats what is called) and the gaskets. I am also going to change the oil and filter. I was running lucas oil, but I think …

Back in 07 I bought a PF100 for an 01 24v that I had. In less than a year I was on my 3rd pump, (all covered under warranty). The first one burnt its self out due to being restricted, the second one quit due to a cheap o-ring that shrunk in the cold weather allowing the pump to suck air. The 3rd pump seemed to work alright but by then the blue fuel lines had started to show dry rot cracks. I ended up selling the truck not to long after that so I wasnt able to really put the pump to the test. To those who have and are currently running an Airdog, have you experienced an issues? A few weeks ago I picked up a basically stock 02 24v and have been looking for lift pump rep…

Ok guess I am just stupid. Repacing my radiator and got it out without having to remove the fan clutch. But tried and couldn't budge it. Searched this site and other places on how to remove it. Some places say there are holes in pulley mine does not. Tried using a rubber belt ratchet thing to hold pulley. Didn't work. Found this pic of tools to use but not sure what that 71 mm wrench holds. The 36 goes on nut holding fan clutch but where does 71 mm wrench go to ????Thanks Rob

This article was created to shed some light on the facts for tuners on a VP44 Cummins. Here is a quck list of features for various tuners so you can compare. The $K / Redline /TST PMCE are not included as they are a special breed of tuner that people run for a specific reason. Not all tuners are equal and there are a lot of opinions as to "what is best" Use this to figure out what is best for you and your truck. My truck has been eating MAP sensors lately. I can't remeber how or when the the first of the last 3 failed but it seems to me it happened after another repair. This last one was working when I parked the truck Friday and replaced the master cylinder. Get that done and start the truck and the MAP is not working, complete with another p0237 code. No readingmfrom it on the scan gauge. The previous one failed when the VP went over Thanksgiving. I bought a couple cheap a member here found as a spare. 15 bucks so I had little faith in it working and it did not. The odd thingmI found on the truck was that I apparently some where in the past have swapped my IAT and MAP lo…
