Well after some of my other posts, most know about fuel issues which got solved with new injectors. Drove amazing for what ever it was 1-2 weeks, then all of a sudden today going to work I slowed down on the off ramp at my exit started hearing and feeling this "Bad fuel knock video" Truck is very hard to start- acting like it's not getting fuel- after sitting for awhile. In video I am loading truck on trailer to bring home. This is my daily and I'm kinda up the creek without a paddle atm. Could new injector(s) be bad or injection pump took a $#!% or worse?!?! *No check engine light or codes via key flip. Edit: Update Started the truck, sm…

I am working on a home made PSG unit and needed to know the min and max absolute timing. So I improvised a degree wheel and blew back into the #1 port with the pump shaft key way centered with the mark on the front of the pump by the seal. I could blow back about 30 deg before and 30 deg after which is +60 and - 60 at the crankshaft. I noticed that the port starts to close up about 3 degrees sooner because of the port hole width. There is also about 1 degree of overlap where two ports are very slightly exposed. I then measured the rotor, slot and ports then did the math and it confirmed my findings. So never try to inject past ~54 degrees either…

Good morning, I bought what I thought was a good deal of a truck during the pandemic, a 1998.5 3500 auto dually. This forum has been very helpful thus far but I feel like I have hit a bit of a wall and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions before I go down too many rabbit holes. Currently my truck is showing a P1698 code, which can be cleared but immediately returns. It s very hard to start but will get going, rev and not throw the code when in park or neutral. As soon as it is in gear and a load is applied the code pops and the engine derates. After installing the new vp44 it was running and staring very well. P1689 started suddenly on my wa…

Howdy! The truck: '02 2500 4x4 with the 47re transmission. Gonna do my best to bang this out in the most concise way possible. The problem: under hard acceleration from low speeds to highway speed and also cruising along above about 68 MPH I am experiencing what feels like a hard shudder or very quick cut outs. Recently preformed the grounding mod described in W-T's thread "Ground Reference VP44,ECM,PCM,PDC plus TC lock/unlock". Batteries are fairly new and terminals are clean. VP44 and lift pump both replaced at the same time a few years ago. VP44 came from Industrial Injection and I usually run 2 stroke oil in the fuel. FASS Titanium 95gph lift pump. Just chang…

Every once in a while i experience a very quick loss of power as if you turned the truck off and then it comes back and acts normal. The whole thing only will last for a fraction of a second but is very easily noticeable. Sometimes, rarely, but sometimes when I first crank the truck and go to pull out of my parking spot the truck will just instantly die. Then i can fire it back off with no problems after that. Only showing 3 codes which is p01693, p01694 and p0230, I have a mechanical fuel pump on the truck so that's why its giving a code P0230 but I am curious about the others. I'm gonna start by checking grounds and the spliced factory grounds to make sure that couldn't…

I had a EZ about 5 years ago and it came with a boost elbow, the new Edge I just bought doesn't come with one. So should I install it or is there a reason to not run the boost elbow. Thanks

I'm doing my best to try and get my new turbo installed, started last week and only got things disassembled before I ran out of energy. I got back to it today and am almost done but I was unable to get the down pipe installed. I was hoping it would go right in as I am replacing a DEP pipe(HY35) with another DEP pipe(HX40). It looks like I am gonna have to beat the firewall or the pipe to get it to fit. Should I just take turns hammering on both until it fits?

Hey all, thought I'd post this to get some opinions on what to look into replacing or adjusting... So when I shift my truck into 4Hi, my dash 4wd light comes on but when I go and give it gas and start to drive, my shifter goes back into 2wd. I'm assuming this could be due to a worn transfer case linkage? Mine is currently in the same state as when I bought it from the P/O and its held together pretty janky.. has a zip tie or two on it.. lol the t-case shifter is also pretty damn loose but I do feel it "go" into 4hi in a way.. I also don't believe my front end is engaging. I held my hand on the shifter in 4hi and gave it gas and had a buddy check my tires in th…

Hello everyone! I have read several articles posted around but cannot seem to find anyone that truly found an answer to my problem. I was recently driving my 98.5 that has a quad adrenaline and it started jerking. After a minute or so I noticed on my Bluetooth monitor that it would cut boost back to zero. As in, I would be going up a hill or something making 5lbs and then it would drop to zero and jerk. (Makes sense because I assume the quad cuts fuel when it sees the boost drop). At first I assumed the MAP finally bit the dust so I replaced it. It didn’t seem to help any. So I continued doing some testing and found the following: 1. if I set the quad to…

So I know there was a thread on this back in 2016 but reading into the document it looks like the guy who made the thread never really did the swap just stated what he thought needed to be done so bringin this back i have an 02 6 speed truck which unfortunately has snapped the crank ripping the main caps out and cracking the block, and me not knowing it was a headache to swap ended up snagging a 99 motor for it, well instead of loosin my you know what on trying to sell this damn thing and finding another has anyone done this successfully without it being a huge headache again i am trying to put a 98.5 24v in the 02 chassis, thanks again!

I'm replacing my vp44, removed the old one without aligning the keyway to the 12 oclock position. Is it safe to bar the keyway into position without the vp44 installed? Like my profile says- unskilled (But eager to be instructed)

Hello All, Over the years I have jumped around the different fueling boxes. I have uncovered my old edge comp box without the wiring harness. I can get a new harness for $150.00 from Edge but before I shell out $150.00 for the harness I would like to verify my box works. I called Edge and they told me that my box is too old, build date of 12/31/2002, and they no longer support testing of this box but can provide the wiring harness. If someone out there has a wiring harness that they can provide a wiring diagram so I can make my own, or if I could plug my box into someones truck and confirm it works before I shell out $150.00 to buy a new h…

Having a new issue.. idling truck runs great very slight haze but nothing new.. take off down the road under low throttle it does great.. than between 20-50%ish throttle I begin to have white smoke pouring out.. under full throttle it’ll clear up to black.. I’m throwing no codes, turbo is rather new and have inspected behind filter and down pipe with no signs of oil.. injectors freshly pop tested, compression test recently has been done. Could injection pump be failing with no codes being thrown? Any other ideas?

Hi everyone I hope someone can provide some advice. I have a 1998.5 3500 with a nv4500. It has an aftermarket lift pump, TST Comp, and ts mvp. The current issue has never happened before and I’ve owned the truck since 2017. Over the weekend my radiator sprang a leak. I noticed it when the check engine light came on and temp read ~240. I pulled over and shut it off. While replacing the rad I had two wires where the insulation wore off short. It was the “Cummins bus power” wires (see wiring diagram). I fixed them and the radiator and went to start the truck and no wait to start light and the truck won’t start. I messed around Saturday looking for bad wires, and checking fu…

I've just come across a pair of exhaust brakes, just the actuators no controllers, from pictures and measurements they look to be 3 1/2" ID on a 4 1/2" V band both straight not angled Both are off of a Daf cf55 which has the 5.9 cummins fitted but the pre 24v, I'm assuming my downpipe is stock but have't measured it yet hope they are the correct size, bigger than stock I'll be ok, smaller than stock and I'll sell them on to the landrover/cummins conversion boys Whats the easiest way to operate one without spending huge amounts ?

Hello everyone another New to me 98.5 day after I bought it odometer started blinking and no guages except for the tach. P1698… Checked for bus voltage at the dlc and have 2.45 without the truck running, I figured it was a pcm but I put it in my other 98 and it worked but the pcm out of the other truck didn’t work in this one. I checked the voltage of the 2 bus wires on C3 on the pcm and it seems they only show 0.9 volts? Truck charges and shifts fine just no guages. I also checked the C130 connector and my grounds going into the pcm. Any help would be appreciated thanks guys

I think I'm finally ready to ask these questions. I have decided to upgrade my 24v with a quadzilla adrenaline, injectors, compound turbo, and an exhaust brake. I am not interested in rolling coal. I do not race but I do tow. I like reliability and longevity. My NV4500 has a 450hp clutch. And I'm installing a new lift pump and lines. I'd like suggestions on compound setup and which injectors to match them with. I initially planned to build my own setup but now I'm leaning to buying a kit. I feel like I want to be in that 350-425hp area. If possible I'd like to keep air filter in place (corner of passenger cowl) but it isnt a deal breaker. T…

First I will share I have a new lift pump and TPPS and crank sensor. this truck has the modifyed relay installed a few years ago. Today I had time so I put a test light to the Red and Green wire key on power source for the FP relay and also powers the VP 44 pump as far as I understand. When the engine is cycling off the power to the red/green wire goes away. there are no codes present at this time Adding short video. I'll add its a 1999 2500 with auto Thanks for any help.
