So coming up on a birthday for my truck in October heading to 16 years of ownership and currently standing with 315k just about to roll up on the odometer. I'm still running the factory steering box and power steering pump. To this day the steering box is still tight and leak free. I've adjusted the over center adjustment a few times but still the steering box is working just the way it did when I bought the truck brand new in October of 2002 and it had only 43 miles on the clock when I test drove it. My truck has seen a lot of rough roads and dirt roads, off-road 4WD travels so, there is no pavement princess here. Now I have to admit the since I've never run…

ok so this is the 3rd time this has happened... got home today and noticed something steamy and smelly coming from the under the truck... walk around and find my passenger side rear hub practically on fire again :cry:same wheel, 3rd occurence now...last time i had the caliper replaced with a brand new one, that was 4 months and about 7000 miles ago. any idea what the hell could be causing this... i don't know much about brakes, and do not have the tools or knowledge to do anything other than change brake pads by myself...

I've been using my bed w/ no liner for the last 3 yrs. Cardboard & exercise mats. It's ok untin I get a 1/2 ton of grain on a pallet & they use the tow motor to push it the rest of the way in. I did think I struck gold the other day, one was for sale by the owner in front of his grain store. After taking some measurements seemed like it would fit. I would have tossed it in but my grain was already loaded. To complicate things, I have a fiberglass topper. After 3 trips, no one was around to help me w my shell. After talking w/ Michael on the phone the other day, he expained how the beds were changed w each generation. Thank you for that but i wish I new that before…

Well my drivers seat was killing my hip due to the foam starting to break down. I did some reading http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/3rd-gen-non-powertrain/129591-front-seat-foam-3.html on refoaming parts of your seat. I had the typical left bolster sagging. Pulling the cover off was pretty easy. In doing so I also found out why my heated seat isn't working. Broken wire and was burning the seat foam! I removed the foam from the base. and glued some burlap to the bottom to give some support to where the springs were starting to cut the foam. I also re-glued the Left side bolster back to the main cushion since it was starting to separate. I then took some 1" foam and built …

New to the forum here and really appreciate all the amazing info. I couldn't find this discussed before so figured I'd just ask. Does anyone have experience with the 3rd gen leaf conversion and specifically the kit built by Thuren? It's pricey but I'm seriously considering it as my truck is my daily and I'll never sell it so I don't mind spending on the absolute best. It sounds like the Carli full progressive leaf pack doesn't actually feel that much different compared to factory for most folks. Any info is appreciated.

If you are looking for gauges for your Dodge Cummins truck, you need to decide what type that you want. Do you want mechanical or electronic. Both have their good and bad points. You are the one who needs to decide as to what type of gauges that you want. You can ask for opinions as to who likes theirs the best, yet you are the one purchasing the gauge set. The necessary gauges needed for a stock truck are: Fuel Pressure, EGT (Exhaust Gas Temperature), Boost, and for Automatic Transmission owners, Trans. Temp. FUEL PRESSURE GAUGE A gauge that goes from 0 – 30 psi will do fine. Is using an electronic gauge, you need either a snubber hose and or a needle…

Track Bar... This will be my second failure in a total of 324k miles. My last track bar lasted over 100k miles. I will admit I screwed up this time. Being I'm doing all the back and forth trips I opted to just at the local AutoZone and pick up a trackbar. $90 buck with a lifetime guarantee. Didn't realize it a sealed unit that has no grease zerk. I found this out after I've already pulled mine out and need my truck. My last Track Bar was a NAPA unit and it did very well to go 100k miles. Just times are tight for me and had to take what was available. I do plan on getting a Luke's Links and rebuilding my old bar since its got the small non-Moog head…

I was talking with a friend tonight that has an 01 with the sport pkg and he told me his headlights started staying on today, even with the headlight switch off. Only way to shut them off is to unhook the batteries. Any ideas anyone? Daytime running light module perhaps?

my son has a 99 dakota, 4x4 5.2ltr, with 44re automatic. the truck has 175,00 on the motor and the tranny has about 70,000 miles. the tranny shifts in and out of O/D every 20 seconds or so, shifting back down into 3rd and then into O/D again. the tranny temp light comes on and goes off as it shifts. in the past years i have replaced the shift solenoid, and the governor pressure solenoid. when this problem appeared i replaced the O/D solenoid and the temp sensor. they are only serviced as an assembly. i also replaced the ets (engine temp sensor) as this was the only code stored in the pcm. it currently has no codes stored, historical, or pending codes. i have no idea where…

Someone showed me this website and I have to say it looks pretty cool. You could change the color of your car/truck whenever you felt like it. Pretty inexpensive too. I might give it a try. https://www.dipyourcar.com/

Just done the crankcase vent mod w/some mods of my own. I liked the pictures of the mod but I did it a little different than what I saw. The pics. I saw showed the mod without the radiator hose which will rub against the pvc pipe when it is connected. Over time you will get a problem. If you take the 3/4" curved hose that is already on the vent to the canister you will see you can cut it to be a perfect fit to go around the radiator hose by cutting the curved part off. Put a short piece of 1/2" pvc into the hose, CLAMP IT and Attatch the 90% pvc then cut and fit the pvc to meet your needs. At the end , instead of using more pvc AS A DOWN PIPE I simply put a 3 ft. piece o…

I've been fighting an intermittent no bus/ no gauges issue for a while now. I narrowed it down to the cluster because sometimes a hard bump would cause them to go away and a soft bump with my hand would bring them back. While waiting for the ATF to stop dripping so I could change the cooler return line I finally pulled the cluster. The slides that hold the plugs in the dash appeared to have relaxed over time allowing a considerable amount of play. After a Yankneck Ed dielectric grease treatment I put some toothpick shims behind the plugs to tighten them up much like a builder would shim a window. I'm not implying that @JAG1 would ever use a shim but some guys do . Put it…
