2nd Generation Dodge Non-Powertrain

  1. i see that my truck already has the connectors in the doors for power mirrors and the control switch on the drivers door. do I need to do anything other than get a mirror control switch and a set of power mirrors to do this? Would it be the same for heated also? Pulled back the ac/heat controller and the wires are plugged into a empty spot on the controller. Is there a need to put in a fuse in one of the empty spots on the fuse block inside the cab or is it all powered already. thanks

Done it again another set of cheap WalMart seat covers and made them fit like they were meant too. I'm good for another 100k miles again! I got a set of Dickies Seat Covers and with a bit of trim work for the seat belt, they look great!

I've just been able to get back to my truck upgrades. It's been a busy year so far. I was checking my power steering fluid level and noticed that one of my ground wires did not get hooked back up. This is the shorter small ground wire on the drivers side battery. The longer one goes to the frame. Does anyone know where this shorter cable is supposed to be bolted down?

  4. Disabling Factory Alarm Horn Are you tired of the factory alarm horn going off with 3 honks (tamper alert) when unlocking the door or at other inconvenient times? The horn sounds when the central timer module grounds pin 85 of the horn relay. Here is a simple inexpensive remedy to stop the module from sounding the horn. You cut the wire to the module; the horn will still work at the steering wheel horn button but not with the door locks or key fob. You will need a phillips screwdriver, small wire cutters, and a roll of electrical tape. Remove the three phillips screws at the bottom of the pan…

Has anyone heard anything good, bad, or indifferent about these stereos from Jensen Heavy Duty? https://www.crutchfield.com/p_522JHD36A/Jensen-Heavy-Duty-JHD36A.html?cc=07 I drive around the midwest a lot, especially on Friday and Sunday evenings. Since I don't care about every little town's high school football or basketball team - and I don't speak Spanish - having lots of options for tuning is important to me, especially a CD player! Not sure how much I'll use the Weather Band, but I also ordered the XM Radio gizmo since I have a subscription that's good another 9 months or so. I ordered the scratch and dent model, so if you know something bad, ple…

i found water on both driver and passenger sides where i tracked it back coming from underneath the door plastics where it appears to be running down the window channels and falling through the forward most hole in the door panel. i replaced the window channel felt, and both inner and outer window sweeps with no luck. sitting inside the truck i can watch water running down both window channels but since the front access hole in the door panel is much larger and lower, it seems to only be making it through that one. Has anyone else dealt with this situation before? Thank you. 2001 dodge ram eclb 6spd, 2wd

Were rear disc brakes on the 2001.5 and 2002 trucks only available with all-wheel anti-lock brakes? Or were there rear disc trucks made with rear wheel anti-lock (RWAL) only? I'm wondering how folks handle the drum to disc axle swap in regards to ABS as it seems like most of the rear disc trucks I've seen have all-wheel anti-lock. Is it prudent to run rear discs with rear wheel anti-lock only? This situation might exist if putting a rear disc axle in something like a 1999 truck with RWAL rear drums.

  8. I have a 1999 dodge ram 3500 and i have no trailer running lights, ive verified with other vehicals its not my trailer and even used a clamp and spike style test light. Nothing at the pin for running lights when i have my trucka light switch on. I even traces the loom back all the way to under the drivers door right at the ffront wheel well the wire that feeds my trailer plug is a orange striped black wire. I found the wire up by the wheel well and tested again with the test light and still nothing. Was hoping there would be power then id just run a new wire from there back. Anyways after the wire loom makes it to the engine bay it teea off to the fues panel, into the cab…

Hi All, New to me Truck. I was removing the Edge Transmission Temp sensor Wire when crawling out I noticed that the top bolt in the 4 link #4 in Illustration was backed out, right hand side. Aside from screwing back in with Locktitie is there a way to unload the link so I don't Screw it up? I assume (That word.) that Jack it up and support the frame and then just unscrew locktite it and back in she goes?

  11. So last week driving along started to smell the very distinctive smell of wiring. Then the smoke came all within a few seconds. So my question is I was able to get the old resistor out but it melted the back side twords the firewall of the box . Thers 2 wires the look to have run behind the hvac box that jump off the harness going to the resistor. Does anyone know what they go too? Also the wires where so melted to the box I cant tell what color they are

I have a 95 12 valve that when I start it occasionally just my back hazards start to flash. The front ones stay off. When I press the brake the back ones stop flashing. The only way I can get the to start is by playing with (turning on and back off) my hazard switch. I was told maybe the hazards switch? Or maybe the brake switch connected to the hazards. Any ideas??

While browsing dash cores on ebay, I have noticed that some dash cores only have the cigarette lighter and not the power port and lighter. The descriptions have stated they are not interchangeable. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

To start off it off I will say I just replaced both my batteries with Interstate green top batteries about 7 months ago that have higher CA and CCAs than the last set of walmart batteries I had. Problem is that I got a new(er) truck to drive around for better fuel economy and comfort so now my truck in sig, 2001 ram 2500, is losing charge after sitting for a little while. I actually started to notice prior to getting my new truck about 3 weeks ago that even after it sat over a 2 day weekend it seemed like it took a few more turns to get it to start. This time it sat for about 2 weeks and it was completely dead when I tried to drive it this past Sunday. Any gue…

Anyone care to diagnose this click sound? All the controls on the steering wheel are working (cruise, horn).

Anyone got a picture of the heater blend door actuator with the cover removed, I think the truck I'm working on has a gear missing, my guess is some not so bright person has popped the cover off to try to figure out why the heater temp control doesn't work and a pile of guts dropped out, the clue here is that I found one gear under the carpet along with a pin.

I was involved in an accident and the front suspension was greatly affected, it broke the steering gear box output shaft and affected other suspension items, upper control arm, lower control arm, the shop replaced the upper control arm and the lower control arm with a 11000# control arm, now my left wheel set further back than the right wheel and when turning rubs the plastic shield, not to mention the alignment is not correct, anyone know the difference between the "except 11000# gvwr" and the under 11000# control arm?

Has anyone had any experience with this company? Seems like a viable alternative to swapping an axle or buying another truck. No, it won’t legally change the tow rating but would increase stability when towing at the very least. https://www.southwestwheel.com/c-10-single-to-dual-wheel-adapters.aspx

  19. I know winter is a little ways off yet but didn't want to do this last minute. I decided to try and patch up my driver's side floor board today. It's temporary, should last a year or two until I get some other things done. Then I'll tackle the floors, rockers if needed and so on. I also learned today that a flux core welder from harbor freight is NOT the best tool for the job. I have the home made patch panel in there good enough until I can get to a buddy's house who has a mig. These are the after pics.

New here. Picked up a 98 12v in mint shape 112,000 miles. Stock everything. Neither power door lock works. You can hear both motors running, but nothing happens. I know the motors are in the latch assembly, but is there an easy fix for this? maybe a broken clip or something? PO said he hated power locks and never fixed them since he owned the truck (from 58,000 miles) but I kind of had the feeling he disabled them. Any suggestions? Not interested in paying the 125 apiece for new ones. Or anyone rebuild these? Or maybe something else?
