Had the truck since January, been using Valvoline 15w-40 dino since, and the oil pan leaks and leaves a couple drops in the driveway everyday, no big deal. Did an oil change in prep for cold weather last week, used Rotella 5w-40 synthetic, and now she leaves puddles. Once winter sets in I plug the truck in at night anyways, so should I switch back to dino or wait it out till I replace the oil pan gasket (unkown date)...I'm dreading pulling the motor mounts and what not.

Hello all. So it's soon time for state inspection and like last year my abs and brake light come on just in time to give me something else to worry about. Last time they went out and have not come back on till now. What's different is I don't have the CLUNK when I turn the key to pre heat position. That clunk is the ABS pump right? Would a malfunctioning speed sensor cause it not to clunk or do I have another problem? I read the diagnostic article but it didn't address it. Also, I have contemplated just pulling the fuses and bulbs and running without ABS since I don't like it anyway. I read some guy did this and some time later the brakes locked up going down the road. I …

Hello, I am new to the site and new to the Dodge world. I recently bought a used '99 Ram 3500 and it is in pretty good condition. As the weather here in Northern Utah is getting cooler, the need for AC is decreasing. On the air direction selector control (I have no idea what the legal name is for the control) the majority of the vent positions turn the AC system on. The selections are OFF, AC Max w/upper vents, Normal upper vent, Lower and Upper vent, lower vent, Lower vent w/Defrost, Defrost only. (I think I am forgetting one?) Any way, this is the first vehicle that I have owned that has not had a AC power button, so the AC system in this truck, and verified in my the o…

Hey everybody. I am getting ready to do a radiator flush. Are there any particular brands or types of antifreeze to put back in? I was thinking about using rotella ELC because its specially formulated for diesel engines. Any thoughts? Oh ya, and does anyone know what the full system capacity is? Thanks tons!!

Have not driven the truck in a bit (wonderful VP-44 puked again and no $$ to fix it!) but jumped in the truck over the weekend to move some big stuff around and when I turned the A/C on it worked fine but would only blow air out of the foot vents. No matter what position the climate control switch was in, air came out of the lower vents.Searching the bulletin board I did not find anything like this but did find several threads about the vent system being controlled by vacuum and if you had a leak that the doors would default to the floor vents. Any hints or suggestions on this? Thx,FT

My right hip is giving me trouble and it is painful to lift my leg up to enter the vehicle. Can someone recommend a set of cab steps that will hold up to heavy weight and attach in a way that's not going to pull away from the vehicle. Don't really want nerf bars.

So the other problem with same truck (see other thread on rust) ....... is there is NO AC. Its was removed for larger twins/intercooler.So two questions here.1) I assume all I need to hook back up is compressor, condensor, ac radiator at front and lines. Basically just hook all back up ? And then charge and look for leaks.2) As its a closed system. What are the chances that the AC heater core is all rusted and Im going to be pulling the DASH and doing a new heater core etc.

Found a truck I want based on its performance modifications ....... but when we get some more photos I was a bit shocked to see the amount of rust (not a cheap truck with the mods). Would this scare you from buying ? I wouldnt normally even consider it - but the owner seems straight up for getting it resprayed and taken care of for $1200 (full truck spray). Just wonder what kind of job its going to be and if Im going to see more rust and bubble issues later ... - - - Updated - - - pic Theres other bad spots like the doors - hes going to replace one of them...... the part with above is it looks bad enough to me that they would have to cut it out and basic…

Current shocks are extremely bouncy and shakey on any terrain and need to be replaced. NAPA has Ranchos buy 4 for the price of 3. For a mostly street driven truck, get the Rancho RS5000s? Budget friendly, do the job? Any positive reviews?

I do not recall having this sort of thing come up when I had the OEM fuel cap. But recently, being in Yakima for work, I had to get myself some locking caps for truck and trailer. Yesterday, I pulled the trailer home and occasionally I could hear a noise along the lines of a plastic or rubber moving as I was driving. It was odd. Heck at one point, I thought it was the cab of the truck flexing.. haha. So, I make it to the fuel station to refill. I was darn near next to the red line on E. I unlock the fuel cap and twist it off. Tank had a crazy amount of vacuum on it. I looked under the truck and fuel tank was sucked in quit a bit. Filling the tank up to full, I could hear t…

I was driving through town this morning, had my window down and could hear a noise like something scrapping. Just as I was about to stop I had good brake pedal but all of a sudden my pedal started to pulse for the ABS and drug the back wheel...pedal still felt good. ABS and brake light came on and stayed on until I stop and shut the truck off to go in somewhere, came back out and drove off, lights are now out ans brakes feel fine. Come to my next set of stop lights and pedal did the same, ABS and brake lights back on. After I got home, pulled the front wheels and coincidence has it that both sides in front has the dust pans rotted off and laying there scrapping as the whe…

hey guys, i got a problem. late last week my power steering barfed up all the fluid all at once and had no power steering. after crawling under the truck, the only place i can find fluid is on the front of the gear box. all the hoses and lines seem dry. the hoses are in the factory slit-loom and none of the loom has fluid in them. it didn't barf it from the connection on the gear box as far as i can tell and the area around and below the pump are dry also. i looks as if it all came out from around the circle in the front of the gear box (but i don't see any holes, just fluid). i'm about to pull it later tonight, but is there anything i might be overlooking? any suggestion…

Just replaced my worn out steering damper with a genuine MOPAR damper and the MOPAR unit is much beefier than the aftermarket unit (unkown brand). Tube diameter is much bigger and piston rod diameter is much bigger. So far so good.
