Specificly on the early 2nd gen (94-97) trucks. I'm going to be doing some interior work on my 96' so it won't look like a hooptie anymore lol. I'm going to recover my headliner, add texture to fiberglass repaired panels, and paint them. I'm still debating building my own top dash but not sure yet. If there is any interest in this I will take pics and possibly some videos.

Hey guys just curious of everyone's cold morning routines I know everyone's cold morning may mean something different to everyone else. Well I'm in North Carolina and at about 45* out I may start the truck let it idle for about one minute and get rolling.. Is that bad? At what temperature out is it bad to let the truck just idle to warmup? And at what temperature should I let the truck idle for a few more minutes before I roll on to work? I have been really considering the high idle switch but I need the previous questions answered first and also what if you have a programmer such as the quadzilla or EJWA? Will the high idle switch still plug and play and work as it shoul…

Alright guys so this morning I went out and started the truck and gave it a minute and rolled off about 3 minutes gown the road at 30mph the check Guage light came on and I looked at the dash and the volts were all the way down. I turned into a lot and shut the truck off and did a Guage function check the volt Guage worked so I just started the truck and continued my 150 mile trip this morning with no further problems. The volt Guage stayed at about 15 the entire trip. Any ideas?

I have something against buying parts off the shelf... So I came up with my own boost controller. What's wrong with the normal boost elbow? It does work to increase the boost pressure, but It makes the wastegate opening curve even worse then it is stock. With my stock 96, it makes about 22 psi with the stock wastegate and no boost elbow. After some testing, I've found it to start opening around 10 psi. So when we're at any boost pressure above 10 psi, the wastegate is already starting to open and bleeding drive pressure away from the turbine. With this setup, you also have what's called 'Boost Creep' where the boost climbs as the RPM's go up. This is because …

So as some of you may know, I was looking for a new truck, well that fell through so for now, I'm sticking with the ol faithful 2wd! Anyways, I'm creeping closer to 180k and was just wondering. What should I be looking to upgrade/replace/service all those sorts of things. My sig is up to date with what I have currently. I'd like to upgrade to a fuel boss just for peace of mind but other then that, what should I be looking to do to maintain reliability? Thanks in advance!

Ok, tow pig has 352K on the stock turbo. No major power adders. I pulled the BHAF today to install the MECHMAN 240AMP Alternator, noticed discernible play in the turbo shaft. What turbo do I get with my mods. was previously quoted about 775 for a stock replacement turbo from the local injector shop

Hey guys. I got a 1999 24v 3500 with 5 speed w\ dual clutch. I have the banks power pack tlc. 4in. Exhaust, intake, turbo housing, banks Otto mind, gauges, bhaf, banks brake, etc. All have been installed since 2000. I would like to have selectable power levels. I like the edge comp module. Can I stack the edge with the Otto mind? I'm open to all suggestions. I'm also gonna upgrade the lift pump too. Looking at the fass adjustable lift pump . Do u guys think I should upgrade the lift pump first before I stack chips? Thanks in advance for all ur info.

I'm pretty excited! I've been working on this project off an on for about a year, and finally took it for a test drive today! There are a couple bugs that showed themselves, but it worked well enough to get a little data from. These are all at 1/2 second update rate, forgot to change it back to a little faster rate before taking off. RPM also seems to give weird readings at times, not sure if that's a software or hardware issue. This one is starting in 2nd going up a small hill. Totalling about 1:45 minutes. I "benched" my wastegate and have it so it just starts to open at 20 psi, so it seems to be working as it should. I have to adjust the rod for a…

I have a 1998.5 3500 24 valve with an Airdog, fairly new VP44, and Edge chip. I had my nv4500 rebuilt recently and ever since when I'm driving I lose power for a split second before it goes back to normal. The engine does this even in neutral if I ramp up the RPMs slowly or rapidly. Any help would be great.

Ok guys, As you know I'm an old salt here, I've helped hundred of people, but now I've reached the rope with NAPA. I've bough several alternators thought them for various local customers with the famed torque converter lock up. And after 2 years with a new Napa alternator mine failed in late January. Due to my own error I misplaced that recipt so I bought another new one for $191. Yesterday night after 6 months and a few days this one gave up as well. The ac ripple would go from .05vac then started spiking to .12vac. I called the same NAPA dealer I always use and told them it was a warranty. When I got there, they informed me that a 'lifetime' warranty was a o…

I had a check engine light come on. Been threatening to buy a ScanGauge, so since I had no way to read or delete codes I bought one today. Popped a P0234...boost too high code. I had just passed a truck on a grade, the transmission kicked down to lockup out of overdrive. If I had control id not let it kick down. So I know when it happened. Good news is that's the only code that had been stored. That's a relief. Now I'm working on calibrating and playing with various settings. Do you think the boost reading is accurate? Says 13 at idle. Water temp fluctuates quite a bit. 188-212* in town stop and go. So maybe indicates that my radiator can't keep up with t…

After posting and debating on the use of an additive in diesel fuel in a different thread. Maybe we should share our practices to help each other out. I know this can be a very argumentative subject. Point is many of us have had our trucks from times when quality and selection of products wasn't so great. We all know diesel fuel has taken a dive in quality over the years but IMO engine oils and such have made drastic improvements. Some of us have products and services at our disposal that others don't. I own two Cummins powered 2nd gens. 1997 12 Valve - 220,000 miles on the clock - 180,000 of those under this practice. Rotella T6 5W40 oil with a LF16035 oil filter…

This has been a lot harder than expected to get all the correct components. If I write a detailed account, better as a post or article? It will save a lot of figuring and running around. Lug nuts being the hard part. I'd need to know how to write an article.

First off before I start I have to say "Thank you" to Aden at GOS Performance for sending me the R82003 Programming cable for ISSPro EV2 gauges. So now I know I got to create a write up for this but... Wow! This is way cool. All ISSPro EV2 gauges have a red warning light in the bottom. The light is programmable to any setting you wish. So like for example I'll do the pyrometer gauge. We all tend to use 1,200 for a breaking point. So on the software you simply set the pyrometer to set the light if above 1200. Hit you program button and takes about 3-5 seconds to flash the gauge. Now after programming my limits the light react normally now. So like at key on (n…

My truck is a 2001 QCLB Dodge 24V Cummins, 3.54, built 47RE, 75HP injectors, Edge Juice CTS tuner, 4" exhaust. I am in the process of installing a 64/71/14 High Tech turbo, just waiting for flex oil drain. My goal is to have great power from 50-90 MPH for passing very quickly on two lane highways. Would like to do this without smoking everyone out. From what I have read, F1 injectors are probably the way to go for low smoke. What size? Mach 2 is 105 HP, Mach 3 is 130 HP and Mach 4 is 150 HP. They are all 7 holes, don't know the hole sizes.

I moved from the Seattle area to Chelan Washington ,I have had the truck for a little over 1 year .it is a dodge 2002 5.9 4x4 automatic . I added the fuel pressure gauge and a fass ddrp with a inline pre filter ,the truck has 74.000 miles and has 15psi at the injection pump .since the weather is a lot warmer the dead pedal seems to show up and when I went back to north bend I didn't act up.... till I went back to Chelan .I did replace the sensor (apps) and when the air is cool no problem .I get the fuel from the same place in so I don't think that's anything to do with it . thanks kelly
