I have put my foot down and finally got approval to buy a camper. I am tired of packing for camping. I am tired of loading random bins into the truck to go camping, but mostly I am sick of tents, I am sick of sticky small tents haha. I have been looking into used Truck bed campers of the Popup variety. We do a lot of off the beaten road camping so a large camper isn't going to happen. We also have goals of getting a horse trailer at some point and going places to ride for a weekend. So that leaves me with the popup slide in style. Am I off base here? We have ~$2000-$3000 budget for this. I have been looking on Craigslist …

Hey guys. My wife and I have found a great local company that rents 2015 travel trailers so instead of buying we will most likely rent for our travel/camping adventures. Although I've towed plenty before, I've never towed a travel trailer and with that, not entirely sure of neccesary things I should bring. For you more salty travel trailer guys, what are things you can't leave without when towing? Any sort of check list or things you've found helpful in the beginning of your towing days to stay organized and bring what was needed? I try to be as prepared as possible, especially with the family involved, so I look forward to all of your…

Looked all over the site for the right place for this. Apologies if I missed a better place for it.....anyway long story short, I'm off to Canada for 2 weeks holiday just me and wife (1st holiday since 2009) once back I intend to buy either american rv or 5th wheel thing is I can't decide which would be best. To break down costs an rv would be £230 road tax and approx £200 insurance. 5th wheel is no cost per year. RV could pose a problem with manoverability especially the rear overhang as Wales and Scotland is a first and roads aren't american rv friendly. My 3500 is too big for parking spaces in my local town.... been fined twice for not being inside parking bay.....! …

My wife and I got back to Minnesota on Wednesday. I backed into my son in law's driveway to do some work to the trailer before going to the campground for the summer. I was talking to my SIL and turned around. I looked at the trailer and almost crapped my pants! The roof was lifted and torn due to it sliding out from under the front cap (I had a repair done for the same problem done in February in Texas under warranty. The trailer is now at a dealer and with the roof like it is and the spongy floor needing replaced they want to send it back to the factory........... BTW, this trailer is just under a year old so it is under warranty. This picture is at the dealership.

I bought this trailer to transport my mobility scooter... been shopping & burning fuel (misleading ads... hating the lieing SOBs! Did they think I wouldn't see the rust?) So this one was cheap, $200... because the seller honestly stated it needed work. It has a drop in plank at the rear, no ramp, tilt trailer. When I arrived, he had his compressor out but couldn't get one tire to hold air... dry rotted anyway... so I bought 2 New tire/wheel assemblies at Harbor Freight $105 & he put them on. Trailer lights were there but not working... I high-tailed it. Near an hour drive, highway through major urban area... tried to use the truck signals & …

Just curious if there was anyone near NW Ohio with an RV. I'd like to see if we could maybe arrange a forum meet at a campground somewhere. If there is any interest post here. If there is enough interest we will begin to work out some details!

Hey gang. I'm going be upgrading trailers to improve hauling firewood. I spent a better part of the evening talking with Kelly (Taz) on the phone discussing the idea of a new trailer and what size. I already found a dealer right in Boise, ID that sells BigTex trailers. I originally started out with a car trailer BigTex 60CH. But after talking it over with Kelly last night going over measurements and usage I flipped over to the 70TV. BigTex 70TV http://www.bigtextrailers.com/pdf/70tv.pdf BigTex 60CH http://www.bigtextrailers.com/pdf/60ch.pdf

Pursuant to a conversation above:http://forum.mopar1973man.com/threads/3799-Stock-Filter-Box-full-of-mouse-nest... What have you done? What tools & devices have you used? What has worked for you? to keep Rodents, mice, rats, chipmunks, squirrels out of your vehicles. I"m posting this under Campers & RVs because this is an annual rutual with them... though advise need not apply to only RVs. Please be as specific as possible... brand names, sources, how you used it. Russ

I'm on my way of installing solar panels on the RV. These are not going to be roof mounted but free standing. MoparMom and I figure you could just fold up the panels and lay them on the bed while travelling. Right now I'm doing a bit of bench testing and so far I'm very pleased with the 45 watts worth of solar panels. This solar panel kit is from "Harbor Freight" for $139 buck on sale. Then while I was there I picked up a 1200 watt inverter for 120 VAC power. Figuring against typical Amp hours of deep cycle batteries I figure 1200 watts is more than enough. 10 Amps x 120 Volts AC = 1200 Watts = 12 Volts DC x 100 Amps Then figuring common RV deep…

The truck... as in my signature. I've towed a 16' single axle "landscaper's" trailer and 28' gooseneck horse trailer (heavily loaded with camping gear). The mileage goes down noticeably towing the landscaper's trailer & more with the horse trailer... but nothing like with the new-to-us toy hauler. With the TH, straight highway running, I was down in the 9-10 range. The rig seemed to have a lot of drag. Even down hill, it would not "coast". If I lifted my foot, the speed started dropping at once.Late last year we bought the ToyHauler... "28" foot (only includes the box, +3 with the A frame). It is well used & has a Salvage title. Definately not a virgin,…

I've go a 23' travel trailer, bumper pull. Id love to have a bigger trailer. Sometimes I want a smaller one. But as long as you're towing a piece of plywood down the road, where is the line where you start using a lot more fuel. The wind resistance is already there. So how much bigger can I go without seeing a big jump in fuel consumption and stress on the tow vehicle? Currently 7,000# GVW.

Is it ok to leave my camper plugged in when not it use? I had a 30amp plug installed on the outside of my house to keep it plugged in while my mother was living in it. Now that she has her own place and the camper in only used occasionally I wasn't sure if it was a good idea. My old pop-up only had one battery and I would take it into the garage and put it on a tender over the winter.

It's that time again for me to reseal the vent hatches for the 3rd time. Had the RV new since Sept. of 03 so not too bad. One thing I've discovered is it is easier to reseal by placing blue masking tape in a square around each vent and spread the self leveling Dicor Sealant with a brush. By doing this you are working it into the voids, around each screw and working it into the surface for better adhesion. This also smooths it out for the next time you want to reseal because with an even surface it's easier to wire brush the surface (by hand is important) exposing a nice clean surface for the new coat. The wire brush will take off anything loose, but you need to be extra c…
