I got to thinking about all the work I've done to my truck in the last 6 months and started to wonder how much I would have paid in labor if a shop had done everything. Project #1 Installed DOR track bar. Project #2 Removed timing case cover and replaced seal. Tabbed the KDP. Cleaned, applied Loctite, and torqued timing case to engine bolts. Removed injection pump, replaced tappet cover gasket. Set pump timing to 16.5°. Flushed cooling system Project #3 Replaced belt tensioner Project #4 Replaced wheel cylinders with GM 1-ton pieces. Replaced wheel seal. Rep…

Hope all have a good holiday season. Sticking close to home as usual, headed to the Brother in-laws for a get together in Bismarck tonight and then tomorrow off to the Mother in-laws farm for even more in-law family adventures lol. Got my wife a Yoga package at a new studio in Bismarck she has tried a couple times and really liked the gal who runs it. She has been hounding me for a new chopping knife as well, all our kitchen knives are antiques and or just cheap low quality stuff. Went to the store together and she found a high end Wusthof chopping knife on sale for 50 bucks, regular near 150. She got home and went to town with it almost instantly, I…

Glad to see it's not just me that can't drive a Mazda! My mother in law did this one. Thank you God that she came out good. Just bruising in rib area from colliding into console. Fire/ems wasn't going to come out initially but I called them and told them I wanted her checked out. We got to looking at the tire marks, she's very fortunate to not have had a worse situation. If she was going Any slower or went off sooner, she would have ended upside down in that creek. I guess I don't need to worry about putting the replacement parts on now. Truck is more than likely totaled. Water got into the cab and obviously engine bay. Passenger side not looking hot..…

Just to give you all an idea of how the activity streams work. Most of you already use it to see what is new post wise. Another way to see what you've done over time. Go to your profile or any other member. In the lower right of the header banner of the member, there is a button "See my activity". Click this. This will now shrink up the graphic a bit and then display the activity stream for that member. On the left side is all the different activities the member has done. You can look at posts, articles, downloads, product reviews, vehicles in the garage, etc. This gives a better view of all the different thing you have contributed to the site. Time for some of t…

So I'll fill you in a little so you get an idea of what's going on. Back in start of August we found a house and bought it. It was darn near everything we've always wanted. It has wood heat and electric heat on the furnace. I knew that the furnace would be expensive to run so I went for wood heat by default. we've always wanted wood heat! So we ordered a log truck load of wood and had it dumped at the house. 10 cord of paper birch. With all move ins things get hectic. But I finally managed a day where I could get a big group together to help with the wood since it was so late on the year. Managed to muster up about 10 or so people. But it ranged from 4year …

Back story: I used to be in good shape, not ripped but strong with a pretty flat stomach. 300lb bench press, 450lb deadlift, and 400lb squat, nothing too special but had a nice solid core. Then I met a girl who smoked (I didn't at the time) and ended up engaged, living together, and I picked up smoking as well. Then we broke up, I kept smoking, and ended up running hot shot deliveries for the oilfield. I would go days in a row without sleep, 140-150 hour weeks were pretty normal. I started chugging 2-3 16oz energy drinks a day, smoking 2 packs a day, eating whatever I could grab at truck stops, and as you can imagine gained a lot of weight. Early one morning after be…

Have not looked into an old forum that I used to be involved in seems to no longer exsist. Midwest diesel connection seems to be history. That is where I first interacted with mm1973man over there. Had he not popped in over there I would have never known about his site. Just another piece of history now it seems. For those who never knew it, it as MNToms first diesel site and it was a very active site but there was some rumblings at one time and another member took over the site and Tom left to start his second Site that a lot here know about The diesel truck site http://dieseltrucksite.com/

B-1 Bomber For Sale A B1 bomber was in here ( Billings , MT ) doing practice approaches and touch and go's. On one of the landings the pilot sets his brakes on fire. He taxis in, and the airport parks him on a taxiway and then puts cones around him until parts and mechanics can be brought in from Ellsworth AFB, Rapid City SD,the next day. The next day is a Saturday, which doesn't have much going on, so we get to laughing in the tower that maybe somebody should hang a For Sale sign on the plane. We convince one of our guys who's well known for doing things like this that it would be a good idea. So he takes off for the hardware store to buy a For Sale sign. On the…

Was a good weekend for finding Kitty cats here in ND this weekend. These were taken about 125 miles NW of where I live but there is a population that spans our entire state, the last few years cats have been taken in all corners of ND, there was one killed only 8 miles from my house a couple years ago and have been numerous sitings all around my house the last several years, I have seen tracks in the snow while hunting but never seen one in person in the wiild. We also have Bobcats but are rarely ever seen, most are taken by trap or snare and even that is rare, sneaky little buggers. I am personally a coyote caller, have done it my whole life and is great fun. h…

I just took and past eight test to be recertified as an ASE Master Auto Tech.. The test were: engine repair. brakes, automatic transmission/transaxle, suspension and steering, heating and air conditioning, engine performance, electrical/electronic systems, manual drive train and axles, for a total of 188 questions. I've had my Master rating since 1980 and have recertified every 5 years. When I worked for the dealer it meant extra pay per hour but now its so my customers see some kind of qualification. I think this will be the last time since I'll probably be retired in the next 3 years.

As if things couldn't get worse! I really hoped the vehicle accident was going to be the least of my problems. I didn't think much of it but I guess the storm we just had roll through the Pacific northwest here was worse than I thought. Went into work yesterday and the weather was getting bad. Halfway through the shift, the power goes out and stays out. That's when the fun began. We get called off and head home. Downed trees everywhere! Windy as crap still. Managed to finally get home after some help cleared the road for us. I geared up and made my round around my area and spent some time cutting up Downed trees to help clear paths for others. Managed …

Now that it's under control I enjoy learning as much as I can.
