Well my wedding is on saturday, so earlier this week I figured it was time to get the cookers going.

4 crock pots doing 8 x 10# pork loins to turn into pulled pork.

Very basic recipe

1 Bottle of Coke

1 cup of ketchup

some pepper

Some Salt

Some Garlic

Some liquid smoke

12-14 hours on low heat.

Plan for the wedding dinner is

Pulled Pork #50-#60 ( 2 more pork loins to cook almost there)

Homemade Baked beans

Homemade Green Beans #28

Homemade Roasted rosemary Potatos #30

Salad ( who cares)

Rolls

Total Cost to feed 100ish people $275 or $2.75 per plate.

And last but certainly not least, PIES!!  I myself dont really care for cake so i put my foot down.

Me- "Jen listen! We are having pies not cake at our wedding!!!!"

Jen - "yum sounds good"

Me- "no you just dont understand, don't try to argue I don't ask for much but I want this!"

Jen - "fine you win" ( rolls eyes)

Sometimes you just gotta let them know you are the king of the castle. :soap:

#44 of pulled pork on the counter

Provided no one gets sick from my cooking, I think I am in the clear.

I gotta run to costco in the morning and pick up 2 more large pork loins.  That should hopefully be enough ( little more than 1/2 per person of meat)

Ugh.  I don't see how people get divorced, Too much work goes into the dang wedding.  It'd be kinda like restoring an old rusty barn find cobra, then once you have spent thousands rebuilding it, selling it to the Local U-Pull & Pay for $200.

Nothing like winning an argument that you did not have to argue to win and then standing there scratching your head trying it figure out how you did it. We just celebrated our 42nd anniversary and I have scratched most of my hair off. I will figure it out one day. Congrats on the wedding.

Congratulations! I will be joining you next month in the marriage boat...with an 8 week pregnant fiance  :hyper:

Congrats on your adventure.  Mines not prego, but she wishes she was.

Congrats all!

Good job and congratulations! We just got done cooking a whole pig for a church party. Ran out of a 300# hog. 500 people stopped by. It was a great event! Hope yours goes good. You're smart to do things yourself. Some weddings are a huge money pit. The party will be over and then the work starts

Yea.

We tried to keep the wedding cheap.  We had a budget of 2k.....

We are at almost 6 k now.  Granted we decided to rent a venue after the fact ( 2.5k)

Even with doing it yourself, and keeping it cheap, buy on sale etc it is IMPOSSIBLE to throw a party without spending money.  But by gods grace we made it with still something in the bank.

Looks delicious!!

My brother just got engaged and will be going thru the same thing over the next year... lots of fun that I have tried to forget.

Onions are cut, garlic peeled and cut.  Another #20 of pork done.  Crock pots are now idle.

Picking up green beans in the AM, and cutting potatos tomorrow night.

Don't get too confident, may well be the last argument you win!

Seriously though, good luck! Marrage is a great thing, I would never go back

I should taken a picture, but for less than $500 total, plates cups food etc etc etc, we fed about 100 people. Everyone said it was good, so I will mark it off as a successful.....plus now I am hitched

Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Nick Otto on your wedding!!  Nick I have to tell you in all honesty that you are on heck of a husband.  For a man to take over the budget, cooking and all the running around and still maintain a sense of humor (with the ability to laugh at yourself) that takes a very special man/husband with a lot of love.  With these attributes being displayed now....the years are going to be a lot easier.  You,re a WINNER.  Love Rosalie (mopar's mom)
