Thank you. Your message about wiring a relay in the circuit for the lift pump saved my ecm. Yesterday I lost fuel pressure and the auto reset breaker got so hot it stuck in the on position. I couldn't hold it in my hand. I can't imagine what this would have done to the ECM. IMHO all should wire a relay in the circuit to the lift pump. Thanks again.

@klcammie  I am by no means trying to hijack your thread as I got a relay installed for the LP yesterday.  It was a pretty straight forward task.  The longest part is making the wire harness to connec

I'm going to check mine tomorrow and replace if necessary.  Thanks ibmobile for that very useful tidbit of info.

IBM 's above information should be a a sticky stuck article for sure. Thanks Dan.

I'd love to... But... I would like to have @klcammie retitle the thread and I'll stick it to the top for the time being. Eventually, it should be converted into an Article for safe keeping.

Simple! Edit your first post. At the top, it will give the box for the topic title and you can change the title. You might want to change it to something about lift pumps and relay protection.

Just when you thought you got it right by changing it from ECM to relay, now we need the right relay, :ahhh:all part stores will make a small fortune in next week or two. Good to know not all relays are protected, always thought relay was the protection. This is a rat race, never ends...

Got it Mike. Changed it to protect your lift pump.

I've posted an article in the 24 valve 2ed generation fuel section titled "Installing Protective Lift Pump Relay".

This should help explain why a relay is needed and how to install it.

Thanks again to ibmobile for the relay tip.  I did have to replace mine.

I second that!   Have to change mine also

While I have had mine on a relay since my AD install it would be nice to have it in the PDC and clean up some the added wiring I have put in over the years.
