This thread is where I will post updates of my modifications, issues i've had, and potential upgrades I'm considering.

This page is dedicated to @TFaoro, because without him my truck would be bone stock still....

To start off, today my VP died.  It took me by surprise, as it gave no indication there was an issue.  But, it threw Death Code P1691, and that's that.  Good thing it died before I bought tires.

Is DAP everyone's first choice for a new VP?

  • Yesterday I made a trip down to @TFaoro's shop to put a Fast cooler on my truck and do a pinion seal.  While there I was able to witness his new p pumped truck start up and go back together, while put

my rebuild was with stock components, pistons (nothing fancy),rings and bearings are basically the only new parts.

Found a deal on a 5” exhaust and a not dented rear bumper. Waiting for these to go on!

also fighting a hard start issue. Thinking crossover tube o-rings. We will see.

Finally, after owning this for 5 years, I have a mostly normal bumper, with just a small dent.

Oh, and heat.  Old heater core was leaking into the box.

Hail, cracked and peeling grille, worn out bumper plastic.

So so it’s gonna get old school sport paint. Color matched regular grille and bumper.

My paint is starting to come off the roof and not looking that great on the hood. I need fenders, rockers, cab corners replaced before I do anything to body paint wise. I might use a can on the roof just to keep rust away, but problem using regular can paint is you have to send it all off before real paint can go back on. As for bumpers, make some if you got time. Not that hard once you get going, it's the time that's hard to find.

I have a non- sport bumper with fog lights just sitting in my shop lol. if youd like to come on down to Missouri... :thumbup2:

Thank you, but I have a spare shell laying around.  If you happened to have that hood though.... then I'd consider making a trip!

Well it just so happens I have access to one:cheerleader:

Id have to go check and get pics but my father in law gave me a whole 98 1500 4x4 with a bad trans. the bed, fenders etc have alot of cancer I think. Dont wanna get your hopes up but I think its dent free just clear coat peel...

Put some 4th gen style mirrors on yesterday.  I really like the style of the mirror, and the full length convex blind spot mirror makes parking a dream when you can see jsut about everything down the side of the pickup.

I also wired the lights up to be both marker lights and turn signals.  I think the additional lights add a nice touch to the cab lights, and i'm surprised Ram doesn't come standard with the marker/turn signal combo that Ford and Chevy have.

What brand did you go with?

Trail Ridge I think. They’re from 1AAuto.

I’m very impressed with the quality. The glass doesn’t vibrate at all when driving and the power fold is quiet and smooth.

I've been looking at those. I just can't decide how many bells and whistles I want. I'm getting tired of not seeing all the way down the sides of my trailers.

Well, the power fold is only $50 more than just signals so I sprung for it. Turn signals is the expensive option for some reason. Wiring is a nightmare however.

Definitely get the 4th gen style glass. That part is way worth it.
