I got to publicly say "Thank you" to @MUDDY and  Muddy's wife for bailing me out. I got down to Boise to drop MoparMom off at dialysis and went and ate breakfast. After breakfast, I want to go to Down

If its not one thing its another with our trucks.  I assume it is one of your front wheel bearings correct?

Your truck is MAD!!! She doesn't like to travel the same trip every day... At least they're pretty easy.

Maybe your ABS will start working right again though.

That sucks, did you have any signs aside from your abs being on. Grouling when taking off ramps maybe. On the bright side you'll get new bearings and have no ecl.

Few years back my front bearings were starting to growl a little, at least sounded like to me. That's when I greased them and seems good so far.

Very sudden failure. Started darting back and forth on the I184 and I got off the interstate and could hear the growling. I knew I was done. So I limp to shop I had to pick up parts for a friend and here I sit.

@MUDDY is going to pick me up and trailer my truck to Parma, ID.

Sorry to hear your troubles.  It seems that you've had a tough/expensive go with your truck lately.  Is it recommended to replace both sides at the same time?

Ouch,   man I hope your luck turns around.

I just did bearing myself.

Glad you got rescued Mike! Sorry to hear about all the troubles your trucks been giving you lately.

One things for sure is you're making me nervous about my trip out to Dynamic next month!

Every time I read about someone else's issues it immediately makes me feel like my truck will do the same for some reason! I can't be the only one though right?!

Anyways, planning on another write up for the wheel bearing?!

It would be nice if you get time to take old wheel bearing apart and see the cause of failure, if it's not enough lubrication or just simply wore out.

What is the best wheel bearings out there for our trucks? I am thinking about doing them while I get my ball joints done.

I went with a Timken been good so far. Depending on the year I would recommend replacing rotors as well.

Seems to come in waves some times. I remember when my passenger went. took all weekend to get it apart. 2 days later the driver side went about 85 miles from home. Had to pay somebody to do that one. Happened not long before I joined up here. I did get about 210k out of the oe.

my passenger went out at 215k. driver side is still ok at 223k...

My driver side is still factory.

Passenger side was replaced at 130k ish and has been leaking grease since I bought it with 160k.

Put grease in them and they tend to last longer....

What kinda grease and where do you put it in at?

Whatever happens to be in the grease gun that day :lmao:  Axle grease would probably be best.

Through the ABS sensor hole.

I use red and tacky. and grease at every oil change

I drilled and tapped mine and put a grease zerk in behind calipers, put about 15 pumps in while turning it.

Few months later my abs came on, so I pulled ABS sensors out and used the vacuum cleaner with a small hose attached to it spawn the bearing and vacuumed extra greaes out of the tone ring. It worked for a few weeks then light came back on I think I over greased them. Haven't had time to clean them again.

I might pump more grease in with ABS sensor out and try to force old stuff out of that hole and then go back with a vacuum and get rid of extra grease.
