My last thread had to do with a crappy end to crappy month. But today was different. I will let ya'll decide for yourselves.

 

No whining about the dirt or the broken bezel, I already know.

Nice to see, here is to many more miles on the od.        

Now to get the AC working again. The wreck last month punctured the condenser. Got a new one at the house.

 

Be nice to see 500k before I retire but dont really want to work to work 4 more years if I dont have too. March of 2019 is the goal, but we shall see.

It's awesome to see trucks still driven daily getting up in miles! I just rolled 300k last week going to Colorado and I wouldn't think twice about jumping in and going wherever I needed to empty(rarely) or towing. I'm sure you feel the same about your truck...well a lot of us here I'm sure 

On day 1 I wasn't afraid to take off take off any where with the truck. Trailer on her back or empty. Now I am am here on day 5,688, or thereabouts, I am still not afraid of doing it. 

Good to see her still going strong! It's threads like these that restore my faith in these old trucks and why I got one!

I'm closing in on 300k really quick. 298k and still rolling the highways. So I've might of had a few failures (transmission, wheel bearing, etc) but nothing last forever. I'll still gladly hop on the seat and haul anywhere at the drop of a hat.

Just to add to that a little, I have had my problems too. Big ticket, ECM, tranny,VP,  in tank fuel pump(one of my favorites). Those and along the way normal wear tear things like, clutches(one premature), wheel bearing, ball joints and other front items. That list can go on. I dont think I have spent but $2k a year on it since I paid it off in early 07 to keep it mechanically sound. That does not mean when I take off for my next job something might fail, things wear out. Just something you have to deal with. Be nice to have another new truck but what I want and what I feel I can afford are two different things.

 

Another little thing to add for those that have children. Be they young or be they old they still say the darndest things. 

 

The other day I was talking with my youngest son, 40 as I remember. I told when my time came he was going to drive me to the grave in this truck. His response was, " It better be running good or I am going to tell them to dig a bigger hole". You gotta feel the love with that one. Maybe I will get lucky and have one of my grandsons feel a little different on that. One of his sons I hope!! Him and I did share a mighty big laugh on his statement though, so all is good.

Congrats @dripley. I only have 320k miles to catch you.

 

Are there any current posters out there with that mileage or is the chicken man the king.  Way to go

@SilverMoose am not the highest but close. And as tickled as I am to cross the 400k mark. it would not be bad to be sitting on 80k either.

But still 400k is something to be proud of and you have certainly earned the bragging rights.

Congrats on 400k sitting at 323k and driven daily matter of fact it just got new rubber a month a a half ago and I can't believe I've already put 4k on the truck and new tires...  I doubt I'll see 380-400 by the end of the year but I may be close.

Treat em right and even at high mileage with the right setup you can give a new Mustang a run for it's money in a straight line that is....  to me that makes the truck worth it all on it's own
