Has anyone done this swap to a 2nd Gen 01 Dodge 3500? I mean from the whole thing from tie rod to tie rods and bars.  If so, did it work with simplicity or did you have to ream the knuckles out and get a different stabilizer set up?

Thanks again!

Like myself, I cleared 338k miles on the OEM tierod ends. Done another set of NAPA OEM styled tierod end most likely go to 600k miles before I do it again. Nothing to gain for me unless you can prove

I am NOT saying you can't use them. The folks that have have had to shave off some of the stud for the tie rod ends will work. That is on 2500's. It is most likely a bit different on a dully rim. I be

I reused my stock one as well.

Only thing I’ve seen about different pitman arms is on the lifted trucks. If you’re 2in or below of lift you’ll be fine with the stocker.

In my personal experience I had a bone stock setup on there and it all needed to be replaced so i went with the factory assembly that fits the 2010s. You may or may not have to find the nyloc nuts to put the tie rods on i cant remember anymore its been about 2 years since i did it. The factory one is nice because it comes completely assembled you literally just have to bolt it up. I did a good ole driveway alignment measurement of the tires and made sure they were the same when i got the new parts in. No reaming. No pitman arm issues. I was on 37s at the time Im now on 35s. Truck is lifted but im not sure what size Im thinking its a 6" lift that the previous owner put on and pitman arm is fine with the upgraded factory steering. The only issue I had with the install is that the steering stabilizer didnt quite match up correctly and i just made it work as best as i could at the time.

Now 2 years later I still have not had it aligned at all and until recently when i really messed up my track bar it steered perfectly straight. Tires dont wear funny at all. Tie rods still holding up fine. Not worn out and even after some pretty severe offroading they are doing great. I'd have to estimate that ive got about 25k miles on them now and problem free.

Im happy with it though. Steers nice. Doesnt track funny coming to stops or when hitting bumps in the road and i havent noticed that cupping in the tires that you see on wrangler or some trucks which is good.

Is everyone aware of this. By the look of mopar440cu picture, that looks like taboo.

I borrowed this from another forum.

Moog Safety Recall Information (1).pdf

This is one reason I will not suggest or recommend Moog parts. Quality is gone.

I seem to remember some one posting this up in another thread but that included a few other brand names that were all made in China. Cant remember were it is.

That would be me that posted about the recall...

The wife called them and they told her it is only one tie rod end that was in the recall. I don’t know which one, as I didn’t call them.

Just got the new steering assembly. The new ones that have been recalled have a green dot on the end of the box. They pinned them together to fix the problem. Its was pretty much a bolt on assembly. I had to trim the tie rod end at the pitman arm. Steering damper bolted right great swap.

generally it is the driver side toe rod, that short end for some reason likes to break.

my 08 did it within 15k MILES OF OWNING IT....it was a late build, and had the newer crossover when purchased.
