Just Neutral. There is a mod that transmission rebuild can do to make it pump in park as well. The side effect is the torque converter will drain out over night.

is there simple way to check in what mode the pump is on park or neutral etc. thanks

Something about the valve body. You will have to ask @Dynamic about this.

My valve body is set to circulate in P or N. If you’re valve body has never had work done then it’ll only circulate in N. If you’re unsure, other then cracking it open and having someone who knows look it over, my guess would be to check the trans fluid in P then in N. I think it should be higher in neutral and lower or not register in P.

Pretty sure the TC drains fluid regardless if the vb mods done or not. With the mod you just don’t have to worry about dropping to N for a few after the trucks sat for a bit before you get going.

Stock transmission does not drain back typically. I've never had to wait like now. Every morning I've got to start it wait about 10 seconds before the transmission will do anything. Before it would move instantly after starting. 

I’ve had the exact opposite happen, with a 47re. Completely stock, let it sit for a while, let it sit at idle for a bit, try dropping in D and go, would just rev, eventually catching and going. If I just put it in N for 5-10 seconds then that problem is gone.

 

On my built 47re this problem has never happened.

@Dynamic warned me about it when he modified the transmission for pump in park. It would drain back overnight. I do notice that the whine of the pump in park is now gone because fluid will flow in park or neutral. Compared on stock it only flows in neutral. 

Get 6 speed, cant even hear my pump. Kinda like its not there.

Yea, all I’m sayin is they both drain back.

By chance did you happen to remove the one way check valve? This would also create that drain back issue too.

No, all stock. Coulda swore there was a tsb for this exact issue.

Interesting... I've always wondered why the 01 didn't have OD when very cold. Turns out Chrysler programmed the PCM that way because of fluid flow issues in the OD unit when very cold. I had many of mornings driving I-225 and I-70 wondering what the heck is going on with my transmission.
