Has anyone tried adapting the 3rd/4th gen Mopar HD steering box to a 2nd gen?

    I priced a Redhead box and a couple others. By the time shipping, taxes and exchanges are done with me. Its like 8 or 900 bucks. I did the next best thing. I put a steering box on my truck from a simi

  • My pickup has a PSC box.  Came with it when I bought it.  I have never been impressed with its operation.  Adjust screw is all the way in and it's still sloppy.

I haven't personally tried it but have heard mounting is different and will not work without major modification to the 2nd gen.

I don't think it's worth the hassle, or everyone would have done it by now

I heard rumors of a adapter kit but have put eyes on it yet.

I would just do hydro assist. After that your only wear item (steering wise) will be the tie rod.

What is this you speak of?

It's done by tapping your box & running lines to a ram hooked to your steering linkage. It's called the west Texas mod.

Cant say I have ever seen that one.

I put a steering box on my truck from a similar year chebby. Direct bolt on everything. Nice and tight and no leaks. Cost 50 bucks from the local truck salvage.
