  1. I'm with you DieselFuture...... there is so much bullshit .... no originality anymore. I like the old ways myself and will always enjoy taking it easy down a country mountain road watching the road and using my own abilities so they always stay sharp, keeping my own sense of direction and memory of the map.

Most likely the cause. 5-volt Supply Circuit MAP Signal Circuit Short To Ground MAP Signal Circuit Short To Sensor Ground MAP Sensor Intermittent Wiring Problem

The fastest, easiest thing you can do is change out the map sensor. If you don't have time for that then just buy one and put it under the back seat with a wrench to change it if you run into trouble on the road other wise go through the diagnostics below.
  4. lol nope. I like being married.
  5. I always went with the torque that was stamped on the end of the lug nuts, I believe yours say 140# for that style of lug nut.
  6. You'll use wiretap again. Trust me. It'll become addicting. Just plan your shifts. Don't power shift or try to lay into it under 2000 rpm in 6th.
  7. All things start with issues. Gotta keep in mind the number of cars on the roads and the pure number of crashes we have had. How many Deaths due to broken tie rods. How many due to those terrible tires on the ford explorer? It is easy to look at a specific situtation and say " oh no x deaths for one model" I dont trust autopilot either, but it is getting better and better and they learn with each mistake. 10 or 20 deaths due to auto pilot is still a far cry from the 100's of deaths we have each day due to people on their cell phones. Driving is not safe period.

Made it around to doing the W-T wiring mod this weekend. Alternator now charges the passenger battery and the ground goes to the timing case with an extra ground to the drivers side battery. Did a fair amount of running around yesterday and have yet to have it act up but it took a whole week for the code to come back last time so it make take some time but for now it seems to be doing well. I disconnected the BD APPS noise isolator while i was at it to see if this really did solve the issue as the torque converter lockup was really bad and noticeable before the kit hence the reason i bought it. Will report back if any issues persist with this.
  9. The stock ECM timing and fueling map leaves much to be desired. Running larger injectors will decrease duration, but they won't give much more for flow. But having built a bunch of towing rigs over time I have yet to find a larger injector that fixing the EGT's. The higher EGT's tells me that the timing is too retarded across the board. When towing you need a programmer to get back some of your lost timing that you loose with the larger injectors. Its easy to advance the timing and duration with larger injectors, but the stock timing leaves much to be desired. EDIT: Larger Injectors will still flow the same amount of fuel as meter by the VP-44. Without a programmer you can't compensate for the added fueling. Usually these injectors are also popped lower to allow for more flow, and sooner poop off. This just exacerbates the poor map. EDIT: It looks like Mike already answered it in a better way then I could.
  10. You should be fine if yours are original, if you ever change them go to top hats style.
  11. Wiretap isn't considered by the ECM in the engine load calculation. That's why the load number was down. Also, the reported instant mpg number is just a 'best guess' when wiretap is on. I discovered this same thing last year. Crusing at 85 mph with wiretap on, screen was reporting 23+ mpg. I was thrilled until I almost ran out of fuel in Nowhere, Nebraska and discovered my hand calculated mileage was 15.

  13. Another variable (BIG VARIABLE) which no one is talking about is the electrical grid infrastructure. It simply cant handle the number of EV's and has already caused major problems for high density areas. Imagine if everyone today drove home a shiny new EV. The grid system would collapse tomorrow.....
  14. Happen to be walking by the truck parked in the shop and noticed a small puddle of green coolant. It where its at which is strange. Back at the bellhousing. I know the only freeze plug back there is the block freeze plug but as far as I can see right now there is no coolant coming from that freeze plug but I fear the worst.... Possible head gasket.
