whats up people
It seem like you guys back east have the better prices concerning fuels and oils... But out west we get hammered quickly...As for me I got a good break when I fueled up in Lewiston, ID today at $3.499 a gallon. Got back to Riggins, ID and the Price is still at $3.859 a gallon... UGH! :mad

Tires
Ok... I'll tell the story... First of let look at the two tires... Cooper STT And now the Toyo M/T Now you'll notice that these two brands look identical to each other. The performance is about the same. Except I was told the Cooper STT would last 45K miles over Toyo's M/T's tire at about 25K miles. Then to top it all off the Cooper STT was about $300 bucks cheaper than the Toyo M/T's... Who said you needed to spend big bucks to get good tires! :smart

Mechanical Testing...
Not bad MoparsMaiden you did quite well... I guess I am a good teacher if I can teach diesel techonlogy to a female dairy farmer... :thumbsup :D (not to say anything about being a female or a dairy farmer has anything to do with it)

Here you go a straight link now... http://www.valvoline.com/products/Outboard%20NMMA%20(BIA)%20Certified%202-Cycle%20Engine%20Oil.pdf Specs... Pour Point -40*C (-40*F) Flash piont 65*C (149*F) This is really good characteristic for 2 cycle oil really close to the value of diesel fuel so its not going to change the diesel fuel values much... But the pour point will help the diesel pour point go low into the winter temps... Here is a TDS sheet on some common #2 diesel fuel. http://www.cenexenergy.com/Downloads/2ULSDSpec_2006.pdf

Well it looks like both links failed... But you could cut and paste the information maybe... :rolleyes- Winterization...
Hmmm...I wonder where the high idle came from for your 1st Gen??? :smart :moon Truth be told I got the high idle solenoid from BossHogg over on GLTDR.com. I did a trade with him. Well the solenoid worked but I wasn't to happy with leaving my APPS cover off to run the solenoid. So Taz was wanting to trade so... I reworked the braket and got it mounted on a 1st Gen Cummins. It's completely adjustable and it work like a dream for him.Your welcome Taz... :D- New function coming...
Well the theory has been tested and shown to others... BUt I'm having trouble finding the connectors I need to hook into the sensor and the main wiring harness... If I find the connectors I will have a selectalbe high idle anytime I want... :thumbsup- whats up people
Yea I got to admit its going up quickly...The pic above was taken about 3-4 days ago in New Meadows when I was passing through. Thank gawd that the mighty Cummins does need to stop at every fueling station you see! Local Fuel price as I've kept records... 8| http://mopar.mopar1973man.com/2002%20Do ... Prices.pdf- Winterization...
Well I got mine pretty much ready for winter... My winter front are under the back seat in the tray so if it does get cold I can bolt then on my grill. http://mopar.mopar1973man.com/2002%20Do ... _front.htm I also got the high idle software flashed to mt ECM so I'll have the high idle when I'm down at MoparsMaidens place this winter. I keep mine in the garage summer and winter but I plug in when the temps are below 35*F so if I get a fire call at night I can fire up and run to the fire shed and do my job. As for engine oil I use the same 15W-40 year round without any ill effects to performance or starting. I'm using Exxon XD-3 which is certified by Cummins for use in the Cummins engines. My coolant is changed every 36K miles regardless of the color or condition of the coolant. Once the winter snow is here I might drop a few pounds of pressure from my tires to get the tire to bit better in the slick road conditions and back country roads when I'm out snowmobiling... Other than that the mighty Cummins will start in any kind of weather regardless of temps! ;)- Frantz oil filter
Well dorkweed... I saw the fitting they had for the Frantz filter I wasn't to happy about using that for a tap. I was worried about long run when it does start to leak would I be able to replace the fitting and the seal without messing up a oil pan for it. That was my only hold back... I was orignally wanting to drain the oil back in the other turbo drain on the back of the block but I couldn't find a good fitting for the hole... Also getting the plug out look to be a real PITA to do... :confused- Frantz oil filter
Just remember don't make my mistakes...I now wishing I would of mounted the filter up-side-down under the truck where you can lay on a creeper and pull the top off and not make a huge mess like might does. When I pull mine off it drains oil all down the inner fender and down on to the frame. If it was hung up-side down there would be just about zero mess... It would drian completely in the lid and if you had any dripping you can catch it in a pan or bucket...I know the lady that sells the filters. She is in Nampa, Idaho. She sells a awesome product. I would take the time and call her... :thumbsup- Power Service. Emulsifier or Demulsifier?
Not that I know of... I don't know of many fuel products that do much for water. - Valvoline marine 2 stroke
