  1. i had the same issue two years ago. I got the kit from http://www.vulcanperformance.com/category-s/182.htm. I fixed the issue. I had a crack int he supply some where i never could find it. i had i seal leaking on my transfer case so i had oil everywhere. I highly recommend get the draw straw also if the do the big line kit since you will have the tank out anyway.
  2. Ok so to start this started in the winter. When i first fire my truck up my voltage bounces from 13 to are 6 till the engine warms up then it would start charging like normal after 5 to 10 mins. No big deal i started it let it run before i go to work. Now that it is warming up. I start it and if i touch the pedal and bring in even little bit above ideal the voltage drops to around 6 and stay there. Until i let the rpms drop. Then it will bounce around then most times come back to normal. Long story short put a alternator two weeks ago and a computer on the fire wall. I have had it to the stealership twice and they always come up with something retarded that they think it might be. I the codes i keep throwing are tpps low voltage, turbo solenoid low voltage, and one other low voltage code. i can go month with it fine and i can go a day. The worse part of it is it makes a dead spot in my pedal. I have replaced the tpps because of dead pedal in the past. But this is different the charging system is shuts down randomly and taking voltage away dropping it below 12 volt for no reason. I have been looking around and all i can come up with is the battery battery temperature sensor. Which from what i understand tells the system to charge. My question is what does the cam position sensor do and can it affect the charging system never have touch it in over 300k. Also last trip to to dealership they flashed everything with the newest updates and the problem was there before and after they flashed it.

  4. I shop a lot online for my truck also. But I start in the lat couple year dealing locally. I would rather give local place a chance so I can deal with them face to face. It so give me someone to yell at when it something wrong.
  5. last week I came back from Boise to where i live is about 9 hours. I had two other guys with me crying to stop. Because I keep telling them Ill stop when i need fuel. Finally had to do a mercy stop about hour 7. Thought they where going to get my seat covers wet
  6. I run a mopar filter and i see pressure 1 or 2 seconds also
  7. i have my lift pump direct wired with a switch under my dash I start my truck and flip it on i have been running it that way for 4 years. i was having issue with the power provided from the computer on the side of the block. It is a 12v lead that feeds the lift pump. I just have a inline 20 amp fuse so if a for get to turn it off and get out of the truck and leave it on it blows the fuse ad doesn't damage my pump. It work just like a normal lift pump just remember start your truck and turn on pump and turn it off then flip switch. I haven't had any issue starting it year around for the past 4 years. I have seen people use the ignition to turn on a relay to start the pump but i am a simple guy a prefer simplistic. If my lift pumps not running the pump bad, fuse, Wire broke - - - Updated - - - I brought my power out of the many fuse panel under the hood. I used the main power post

  9. I would replace the carrier bearing while you have it all apart. I had to do it because of bad vibration and some nasty noises. That is if you haven't done it in a while. I took me couple time of taking the drive line out before it dawned on my to replace it.
  10. I would check your main harness that runs by your left foot. O wait ill back up do what mike said first check grounds and everything before going to my step. I was up hunting and my truck wouldn't start ended up the main wiring harness had melted together by my foot.(to many POS roads) My truck keep blowing the 30 amp ignition fuse in the engine bay and the 20 amp in by the door. I also found that my head light switch the plug was melted where it had been hot from being loss from vibrating. I believe the ignition power travel through it also. The They have head light switch now you can get with the pig tail included.
  11. My idle is 20 and WOT is 13 or 12. I am holding on for my life at that point so i had my wife looking for me. I have a glowshift 3 in 1 gauge right now. But when i had my pod it still read the same fuel pressure.
  12. OK gang i have so questions about the CPS. First off i have a miss at ideal and up to about 1100 after that smooth as glass. I have been through everything I even tried putting in my 225 HP injectors to see it my 150 hp are having some kind of issue. Had them tested and they came back good. I have taken every connection apart and cleaned them. I Then cleaned all my grounds and still the same. So all i can think of is the CPS. Issue number two while driving down the road my truck has a lot of engine noise. Then like magic it like the engine changes the timing. It is half as load and can only hear the turbo. Normally it seem to quiet down when i am pulling hills or when i am pulling a load or have weight in my truck. Are these related or am i just crazy and have two different issues.
  13. Yeah it really sucks because it is horrible putting u joints in that front drive line. Where the two are right next to each other. That's compared to doing the rear drive line. Teach me to us spicer u joint in the front next time. I am running them in my rear and haven't had any issue. I was concerned not having them be greasable. But they are still in one piece so far.
  14. I thought i was stuck of the union that the vacuum pump and the part it bolts to. But i figure out it was the dumb bracket on the block got it all back together and no leaks thank good. Took a bit to get it bleed though. Decided since i was all dirt to grease the truck and found my end link on the rear was broke off. Explains why was like driving a whale in the ocean. Got two of those also today and got them replaced.
  15. i rebuilt my pump i am having a hell of a time get the pump lined back up to the engine. I have my power steering up mounted on it and i cant get the little cross to line up with the engine side. Any secrets to getting it on
  16. Hey if your feeling like fixing u joints. Do I have a deal for you i blow my front drive line apart Sunday your more then welcome to come do mine also. I found out to much power and being really stuck equal broke front drive line. That why they sell chains I guess.
  17. I have a cheap super chip that i use to program my speedo. I just need a smarty to load the latest updates. So if anyone out there for central Washington to the Boise area has one that is willing to flash my truck. That would that would be amazing. I had a edge programmer up till about a 4 months ago but my 3 year old decided slash it and it was dead. So i am in the market for something new. Once mamma cuts me free which should be February. Really not sure what i should get at this point.
  18. ok i will have to call the dealership back a tell them to figure there crap out. When i take my truck in it is like i am taking them a truck from mars. It took me three trips to get them to figure out how to start it. I have my lift pump hard wired with a switch in my cab and they just keep telling me that i have injections pump that was bad and i need a new one. Well i just had brought it in the have the transmission serviced. I got in it after coming down during lunch pulled it in to there bay and showed the guy twice what he had to do to get fuel to it. He called me that after noon and left a message telling me that it has low fuel pressure and they would like to take the lift pump off and replace it. Well once again they didn't have the lift pump running. Final call of the day, which i answered "yeah we got your truck in the shop trying to figure out this low fuel pressure issue we believe that you need a life pump and we cant locate it and believe some has by passed it. How long have you had this truck and how much do you know about it." I about fell over dead at that point i just old the guy ill be down in 30 mins to pick it up did you service my transmission and no they didn't the wasted a whole day of there time. I ended up doing it my self.
  19. did you guys also buy the down straw kit with the big line kits for the fuel tank. It was very easy to install and worth the time. It is amazing the amount of fuel it can dump of the ground when your wife turn of the life pump manual switch and you have the line off the VP. http://www.vulcanperformance.com/category-s/220.htm They allow you to have a couple 1/2 in system when you are done they move a amazing amount of fuel.
  20. I need someone with a smarty programmer that lives with in 100 miles of Wenatchee, WA. I called the amazing dealership to have then flash my 1998.5 24v to get the high idle and 3 cylinder turned on and they had no idea or clue what i was talking about and basically told me they cant help me. But they could take a look for 75 bucks and see what they can figure out. I will be going to Boise the day after thanksgiving so any takers on using a smarty on on my truck please.

  22. i got lose for about 2 hours on Friday. I came out a road i had never been on and ended up about 20 miles of courses. I have lived and hunted my all my life in the Colockum area and i could not have told you where i was. Ended up calling my dad at work when my cell phone finally connected and he found on a map by land marks where i was. Thank god for my dad and he always has a map of the area in is dump truck. I felt like a ___ not knowing but i had never been to that side in my life. Needless to say my 4 hour quick trip turned in to a 9 hour grind on some of the worst roads you can imagine. Good news is that i did see a lot of elk and did get a shot. Which i missed :banghead: . That why you always have a full tank when you leave the house. That is the one think my dad always has drilled into my head.
  23. i started using 2 stroke oil keep my engine noise down. Even my wife can tell i have been using walmart cheapest stuff
  24. My truck has been doing this same thing for the pass couple years. Mine will do it with my box and without and is off and on issue. Took it to cummins NW because dealership where i live well to be nice is retarded. I know more about the cummins then there tech does. Long story short my truck is defueling under heavy load aka foot on the floor. Computer is reading no more boost so it cuts the fuel. I had to get a boost fuller and little elbow. That what solved my issue.
  25. i would be first up to buy a ford if they would have just put a cat in it. I have run 7.3 for the past 8 years at my old job. The truck i drove everyday was a f350 four door with 398,000ish. I believe when i left i was running on 7 cylinders and had been that way for at less year or so. Love how they are in side and how they ride power train was the killer.
