How to fix a gas can
I've got a couple of those cans around...cool. Hard to beat the cans that have spouts that store inside the can though.

3rd gen tires on 2nd gen truck
I rebuilt my calipers and installed new pads (which came with the truck when I bought it). So the front rebuild cost me around $10 for caliper kits. But I should'a put rotors on, as I get a bit of vibration while braking. For us guys with automatic transmissions...exhaust brakes are problematic.

3rd gen tires on 2nd gen truck
Last summer I found some wheels/tires from a 3rd gen truck for cheap. $100. Included some tires which were around 25% tread. Those serviced me until this week. Stumbled onto another set with 60% tread for $200. These are Wild Country Raidial XLT's. These will get me through the winter. Then I'll have 2 sets of chrome rims to mount winter/summer tires onto. Plus I'm working on going to 3rd gen brakes. My question is ...are the benefit of 3rd gen brakes mostly seen in the front, or do front and rear both add to braking ability?

Suction tube or sump kit
Hard to imagine that the sump would not draw down as far as the tube.
-
Front bumper
There are a few places that do bending in my area. I plan to get tube bent, then cut to length.

Front bumper
No grill guard. I'm going to do that on my own. Grill guard part is pricy from CCP.

Front bumper
I got a CCP bumper kit when they were on sale for $499. Awesome deal! Still a good deal at $599.

Latest School Shooting
No different than Obama care. Shove it down our throats and exempt government and unions.

Latest School Shooting
I'm sure you guys are tired of all the coverage of the latest shooting at the community college here in Oregon, about 100 miles from me. One aspect we've not heard much about this is the persecution aspect. We hear about persecution of Christians all over the world and revolations talks about it a lot. Good time to discuss having your head straight with God. If someone points a gun at your head and asks if you are a Christian...you'd better say yes! Regardless of the outcome. Jesus said on the cross as his last words ..." Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." Luke 23:46. I'm thinking about making bracelets with this quote out of leather and copper. Such a powerful act and started the process of our salvation through Christ. But it makes me weep thinking about his persecution and sacrifice. He did this for all of us so that we may have a relationship with God being imperfect beings. Our sacrifice through persecution won't have a global effect, but handling it properly will secure us a place beside Jesus in heaven. Revolations talks about this as a final test of our faith. This also put an end to sacrifices to God through killing of animals, etc.. Jesus made the last sacrifice for us...himself. God bless.

EPA orders VW recall on Not So Clean Diesels
Might be about time to go get a deal on a VW!!! Do I hear buyers market?

EPA orders VW recall on Not So Clean Diesels
Exactly! Can't tell a lot sitting at idle. But it's in the governments best interest to sell you more fuel. Taxed on the gallon. EPA and CAFE figures are in conflict. Do I sense mental illness?

Radiator hose leak
I might have saved my OEM spring clamps. We'll see if that helps.

EPA orders VW recall on Not So Clean Diesels
That's what a logical mind would think. Disband the EPA.

Radiator hose leak
Aftermarket hose, screw clamps. I tighten with a 6 in 1 screw driver with driver bit removed to allow for use of the socket. Tighten tight with that, but not using a socket wrench. Been doing it this way for decades.

Radiator hose leak
In my 40 years of vehicle ownership I've never had a rig that is so needy towards tightening the upper radiator hose. I start getting drips at the post office prior to full warm up about every 6 weeks and need to tighten the hose at the thermostat. Any ideas why?

EPA orders VW recall on Not So Clean Diesels
It's never made sense to me. How could efficient use of fuel be dirty? 50 mpg and dirty doesn't compute in my mind.

Congratulations. Awesome!

i believe i have trans issues....
Extra deep pan with standard pick up would mean lots of fluid in the bottom no reachable. And deeper probably means more slosh too. For your sake I hope that's the problem.

Winter is coming
Be nice to discuss both prevention like underbody coating and after the fact cleaning and neutralizing. I live in an area where no salt is used, so I'm totally ignorant. But planning on moving to idaho soon. My fluid leaks may actually be beneficial to deter rust.

Cooking for a small army
Good job and congratulations! We just got done cooking a whole pig for a church party. Ran out of a 300# hog. 500 people stopped by. It was a great event! Hope yours goes good. You're smart to do things yourself. Some weddings are a huge money pit. The party will be over and then the work starts
