  1. Is most of the maintenance within the capabilities of a cummins owner?
  2. I am not generally a believer in corporations are evil. But I heard that Michael Jordan makes more money from Nike than the entire combined work force in Malaysia.
  3. I think unless we make some major course direction changes, we are in trouble. Too many people riding in the wagon and not enough pulling it. Heard a gunnery sergent say...lazy is the new cripple. We will eventually run out of other peoples money. Then what do we do? I believe that as a country we are no longer in Gods favor as we were for the first 200 years. That whacko pastor that protests military funerals has it right, he's just going about it all wrong. Not the soldiers fault that our government had decided to make homosexuality OK. Politicians have done that. Taking God out of schools in favor of Muslim and other non Jewish-Christian including atheism spots in the face of God. We as individuals have hope, but the country will continue in a downward spiral. *** marriage spits in the face of God. He created man and woman for a reason. People say that We should love everyone. That's true, but God hates sin. His word does not evolve with society. It remains constant. I believe that a lot of politicians will be judged harshly. Our country is toast. Our only hope is to individually get good with god and share his message with others. How long will it take for things to unravel,'I don't know.
  4. Trailer tires are rated for 65 mph according to the vender. He added my question and his answer to the product page on their website. Go to questions and answers tab. http://www.etrailer.com/Tires-and-Wheels/Kenda/AM10235.html
  5. GVW is 7k. I need to find a scale for actual weight of trailer/truck, etc. But I can tell you that the current tires (max inflation 45psi) roll really bad when making hard turns and they are 4 ply. Rolling under makes me nervous when on gravel, as sidewall I've got to believe are not very puncture resistant. I do a lot of off pavement travel. My elk hunting spot is 20 miles from hardball. The web site doesn't state anything but "excellent stability at hiway speeds." I wrote an e mail to inquire about speed rating. My current tires are from 1998 (original). Guy I bought it from his wife died shortly after he purchased it new and he never used it since. Original paperwork for purchase in trailer. Paid $15,000 for it. I bought it a couple years ago for $500. I never get these kind of deals so I was pleased with myself. Point is that the existing tires have 80% tread, but are 16 years old. I'm going to put the tires on my local use utility trailer when I get new ones for the travel trailer. I have a guy that will do it even though it may be against federal regulations. Heard that after X number of years they are not supposed to re-mount tires to other rims. Maybe a Les Schwab story to sell more tires?
  6. These are the highest load rating 14" tires I've been able to find and at a good price. $100 with free shipping. These are load D and 65 psi tires. 8 ply. There are only a handful of load range D tires out here and I feel a reasonable cost. I was thinking about going to a 15" wheel to get more options, but these fit my needs. 15" wheels turns out won't work for me. Not enough space between axles to allow for larger wheels. Especially if you needed to use chains for snow.
  7. Nope. The preload on the axle never does straighten out. Always bent up in the middle.
  8. Any corrosion in your bulb socket? There are two contacts in there. Maybe one is not getting juice to the one side of the bulb? I'd test the contacts with a test light and poke around with it and see if you can get contact with parking lights on.
  9. I have a trailer with a bigger axle under it than it ever tows. Wears out tires on the outside edges prematurely. 3,000# axle on a trailer that is 5x10' and never gets more than maybe 1,800# on it. So maybe if you tow it with no load it wears tires like mine?
  10. Bad bulb socket? Maybe verify you're getting power to the socket and then try a new assembly. Not very expensive.
  11. Wiring diagram for the truck or for the trailer plug. Great online pictures of plug diagrams for both ends.
  12. Mobile feature works good too. No need for tapatalk.
  13. That's what I was thinking too, but doesn't take away from the cool factor or craftsmanship of that dude. Near as I can tell in a language I could not read is 1,200 hours to build.
  14. OK. Just went to one of our venders...Rock Auto. They sell the Moog Problem solver Track Bar for $81.79. Cant even do the rebuild kits for that. "Moog track bars are forged from premium materials for strength. They are equipped with powdered-metal gusher bearings that provide a smooth, durable wear surface that extends service life. Moog gusher bearings have grease grooves that allow grease to flow through the bearing to the stud. They also are equipped with Moog's patented pressed-in cover plate, which eliminates excessive play and allows for tighter tolerances". Seems like for this price you could replace it every year or two and be money ahead. am I missing something here?
  15. I own an 8d battery. Wondering about a battery switch and charge/discharge independently. That would give me a lot of amp hours.
  16. That's what I was afraid of. Thanks
  17. I've got a really big 12v battery from a big diesel rig. Only place I could locate it is a place like you're doing. But it would really help with power storage. Can I leave my two group 24 batteries on the tongue and locate this battery somewhere else without having issues?
  18. Do your new batteries not vent any toxic gas while charging? Looks like they'll be in a living area.
  19. I've kind of hijacked a couple threads talking about temperature/pressure gauges and their accuracy. Some say that mechanical gauges are more accurate, others seem to believe electric with sensors are just fine. My current gauges are isspro black face and bezel and red pointer. Want to stay with same looking gauges. Sounds like the electric gauges with sensors opperate well below the standard battery voltage with some kind of regulator. So what are your recommendations? Electric or mechanical?
  20. OK That makes sense. Thanks for clearing it up for me.
  21. Is it not effected by spikes or lulls in voltage like the dash gauge is?
  22. Just thinking about winterization. Basically the same concept of a well tank. Valve at the bottom. Turn off the power, open the expansion tank drain at the bottom and open all the water valves to drain the pipes and tank. If tank is on its side you'd need to use anti freeze unless the bladder removes all but trace amounts of water in the tank. I've got my trailer to the point I need no anti freeze as long as I go through my draining routine before it gets cold. Like not having to buy or evacuate anti freeze.
  23. On the issue of the expansion tank orientation, I'm not sure that you'd get benefit from it unless it's with the inlet/outlet facing down. Then install a ball valve and hose discharging under the trailer to winterize.
  24. I have no problem understanding how a mechanical pressure gauge works, but how does a mechanical temperature gauge work? Seems like you'd never get the accurate temperature to the gauge through a little tube that's not insulated.
