warming up this thread again... Just had a redhead steering box delivered as i need to fix the steering play asap and contemplating if i have someone else do the install job. have spent the last 6 months working on the truck with various upgrades and fixes and sort of need a short break from turning wrenches before i do an injector upgrade. However, before i do how tricky is this box upgrade? plenty of videos out there on this just dont' know if I want to fiddle with removing the pitman arm etc. anyone provide me some encouragement?!?

Yeah more history would help. Could be vp44 related and could be a failing MAP sensor. Codes would tell you though.

I recently swapped out a Fleece Cheetah 63/65 for a smaller ATS Aurora 3K - 58/72/12. Throttle response is great. Spools so quickly, The fleece was a bit of a laggy pig. Really happy with this turbo for towing the WA mountain passes near me. I'm also about to upgrade some DDP 50hp injectors to DAP 100hp/7x.009. Looking forward to how this will perform.

I installed a Mishimoto trans cooler which is pretty rugged on my truck. These are something like $299 online. So far no complaints with its operation. Also have a PPE deeper trans pan (provided as part of the Stage 2, 47re build by Dynamic Trans). I measure temp with a sensor port in the pan and I've never seen readings above the 170s at full operating temp and while towing.

Pretty dang quick. I'm aiming to upgrade some on mine in about 4 hrs. 2nd time has to be quicker than the first which I did over a weekend.

Cooler temps for the next couple of days here in Bellevue, WA. What's all this talk of Winter's coming? The thoughts of another 6 months of cloud cover here and grey is very depressing. Planning to move to the high desert part of WA state soon.

What made you go with the Blue Top?

I'm about ready to address some typical steering sloppiness in my 02 before it gets worse. Who here has installed a red head steering gear box and can provide some feedback? All comments I've read on various forums and videos I've watched are favorable on these boxes. Also heard about Blue Top as another provider. Thanks

That’s the same injector modification I’m planning on making. Going to the 100s from 50s. Glad you’re getting the throttle response you wanted. I’m also contemplating going down a tire size (285/75 to 265/75) based on all of Mikes final drive ratio comments. Here’s worn me down! But having just spent a week towing my camper and boat through the Washington passes I need better MPGs and reduced EGTs. Disabling OD does help with EGTs but its a bit noisy for me during long inclines at the higher speeds.

Yes stock filter and canister location. Do i need to care if these numbers are different? With all the diagnostics I monitor not sure i need to focus on them as a system. I am however on a crusade to increase my MPGs - without downsizing my tire size! Its still crazy to me Mopar1973man that you're able to achieve 28 MPGs!

@Mopar1970man - Was looking at one of your YouTube vids on some of your iQuad numbers and you mentioned on the phone to me earlier that your fuel and intake air are practically equal - or chasing each other as you said it in the vid. How are you achieving this? And is this any correlation to optimizing MPGs? My operating fuel temp is always higher than my intake air temp, probably 20-30 degrees higher if memory serves. They never get that close. Curious on others out there what they see.

Have you tried DAP or Genos?

Yeah I’ve patched parts of the headliner myself that were worn but honestly it’s one of those things I’d just like to not fiddle with again. It might change though if your write up comes out!

I know everyone likely has ordered something from rockauto.com at some point. There customer service is non existent and their site leaves something to be desired, but perhaps that's part of their charm! Anyway my question is on the below. Do you reckon the extended cab refers to a 2nd gen "Quad cab" per their cab size guide picture below? Want to order a new replacement ACME headliner but i'm not certain an "Extended Cab" fit is for an actual Quad cab and there's no way to ask rockauto.com. Anyone hazard a guess?

Installed a new ATS 3-piece manifold and ATS Aurora 3000 turbo this past week into my 02. Got it done before the little heat wave that's set in to the PacNW. Initial feedback is that the Aurora (58/78) spools quickly just as I'd hoped. Much faster throttle response than my previous Fleece (63/65). Haven't hooked up the camper yet to the truck and put it in tow mode through the mountain passes so I'll report back with more data when I do. I did intend to make a video of this install but there are better ones out there. I will provide a write up later on some tips I've gained now installing the setup and hopefully its useful - or mildly interesting to a few of you. Couple pics below.

Yup, ATP. Part of the ”quiet dodge” kit. I have the oil pan cover too like yours tractorman. You went all out with it. I did have the manifold/turbo cover but since took it off when I made some turbo changes.The most effective pieces on noise abatement are the valve and oil pan covers. The owner of ATP was a great guy when I talked to him. Pricey product but it works.

Yeah not a lot you can do to the front end sound of a 2nd Gen. But I did add a noise suppressing thermal blanket to the valve cover which helps. cuts ~10-15 db’s.

Yeah but I do need to press the loud pedal often. 😊

Anyone have first hand experience and can recommend a good 4" exhaust muffler/resonator for sound deadening? I need to tone down my 4" exhaust sound some and at the same time not restrict flow. I've seen a few models - Aeroturbine, MBRP Quiet Tone Muffler Resonator. I've got an existing muffler which the PO installed but can't tell the brand. In any event its a bit too loud and showing some signs of rust. Any suggestions?

Yeah its not a big deal in the grand scheme of things but for the perfectionist like me i want it perfect!
