  1. Yeah new foam is like a nice Christmas present! I also recommend not going cheap on the driver bottom seat cover too. Same as LorenS mentioned above. Replace with a US made replica of OEM. There's some good ones on eBay where I bought mine and slightly cheaper than Genos.
  2. You should do the KDP while you’re in there.
  3. Yeah the tire size impact to final drive ratio is now burned into my brain! I would like to add that with my 2nd gen running 33" tires and 3:55 gears I achieved a hand calculated 25.6 MPGs this past weekend during a long 450+mile fishing road. Re-did my math a few times but that's what was achieved. Granted the truck was empty but still.
  4. All - considering purchasing a low mile 2018 3500 and the build sheet shows a 3:42 axle ratio. Anyone know if this was the default ratio? Imagine it was. I notice 2019+ models appear to have 3:73 gears with an option for 4:10s.
  5. Yeah that was my suspicion too. Thanks man.
  6. Noticed this condition a few times lately and its got me puzzled. Truck is experiencing a slight hesitation with acceleration when the truck is cold and not up to full operating temp. Almost like it’s a dead pedal for a split second at low rpms. Doesn't happen all the time and never after it’s warm. Scanned for codes and there wasn't any. Fuel pressure is good. (15-18 PSI). Low mileage truck (94K). VP44 is factory original. Wondered if it was Quad related, maybe the warm up mode feature I have enabled kicking in the power but it’s not. Any thoughts?
  7. I like the look of all the gens to be honest. Probably least of all the 1st gens.
  8. I would never trade it in to a dealer. And I agree i like the ease of repairs except I've been doing too many lately! Why just the other day I was putting my headliner back in and had to loosen the A-pillar with the grab handle and it just disintegrated into a million pieces of plastic. Its crap like this just kills me on these 2nd Gens!
  9. the dealer rep told me it was corrected for 21 year model trucks and later which the one I'm looking at is. Only an issue for 19-20 model years if that is indeed true.
  10. Was thinking about this. I presume the CARFAX report would show if the repair had been done.
  11. Yeah there's indeed some level of stress when i tow with my 2nd Gen today no matter what I do to fortifying the rig. Now i just need to get the missus on board with the purchase but that will come.
  12. ha...although i'm pretty attached to my 2nd gen the advancement in these trucks in the drivetrain, build quality etc is compelling.
  13. Fellow Gen2 owners. Just curious on some comments from those on this forum. I've seen similar questions posed on CF over the years. I've been looking at purchasing a Gen 4/2018+ 3500 Ram. Mostly i just need more cabin space than my 02 for the family/dogs/gear and some better creature comforts etc. I also have a truck camper so I need the leaf springs of the 1 ton and I'd like to get the Aisin transmission which comes as an option with the 3500. I've found a reasonably priced 2021 3500 close to me in the Tradesman trim. Quite a lot of truck. Am I mad here? I've poured a lot of $$ and time into my 02 over the last 4 years. I may have buyers remorse if I part with it. Just curious friends on some comments.
  14. That's a beauty. I'll be curious on what that goes for. I saw another a year+ ago with less miles than that during the height of the bananas used diesel truck market and it went for $50K on BaT. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2001-dodge-ram-15/
  15. Yeah how’s your EGTs now? I’ve read that a lot of guys running compounds see a big reduction in temps under full load.
  16. BTW - updating this thread if anyone's interested. I did order the headliner from Rockauto and that was a big expensive mistake. The one I ordered that was seemingly the right one (extended cab) but did not have any cutouts for the rear doors, specifically the latches so I tired to cut them out myself and then screwed it up royally! Should have just left it alone and returned the thing. Now, like IBMobile suggested I've decided to just re-upholster the existing headliner. Currently I'm in the process of removing the 20 year old foam backing and glue from the fiberglass headliner backing which is a ton of fun. You have to use a wire brush and some lacquer thinner helps too. Then and I'll either re-upholster myself or have a local shop do it. BTW, the replacement ACME headliners are heavy ABS plastic material and are incredibly hard to line up and hold in place. Hopefully this will convince someone not go this route in future. See pics below of the missing cutouts.
  17. Damn. That’s taking it to another level. How does it pull now?
  18. I'd be remis if we don't add to this thread and emphasize that the battery terminals must be clean and a bright shiny metal free from corrosion. These trucks are super sensitive to poor connectivity and electrical grounding which can have an effect on the proper running of these rigs. This has been drilled in to me from more experienced Gen 2 owners than me.
  19. Yeah man. I had the same symptoms not too long ago. Glad you’re back on the road again.
  20. What a difference after the redhead install. Feels like a new truck! Removal of that pitman arm sure was fun. Bent 2 pullers before I had to resort to a BFH to get it off!
  21. Going to install it this weekend. Been putting this necessary upgrade off for too long.
  22. would have been cool to see those cowhides!
  23. On the subject of seat cushions mentioned earlier, i just replaced the driver side along with the cloth seat cover. you can get a less expensive cushion on eBay than Genos. I think i paid $55 and its very nice. I still see them for sale now on there. However, I do recommend paying a a bit more for a good seat cover if the cloth OEM is toasted. My OEM cover was full of holes. Bought a US made high quality version also from eBay. Don't recommend one from China.
  24. Haha. Cheerleading is what i need!
