  1. That reminds me when I lived on the Navajo Indian Reservation. I was running a retail store and my main office wanted me to carry a full line of electrical and plumbing products. I said NO! about 90% of the customers had NO electricity or plumbing. I use to tell my employees if we ever had a fire to run to the edge of the parking lot and go over the hill. I usually had on hand 1000 cans of Coleman fuel, 750 bottles of propane and about 1000 qts of lamp oil! So, Mike I understand what your saying. So many people think that what they have you must have as well!
  2. Usually we see a 2-3 psi drop for fuel pressure when you romp on it. Using a stock pump like you are would account for the excessive drop. Smaller fuel lines and weaker pump. Start saving for a FASS, AirDog, or Raptor! Your life will be better if you do! IMOP
  3. I would have to agree with Wild and Free. If you don't get fuel at the injectors, try at the fuel filter and then try at the lift pump. At least that way you will know where the problem is. The sender unit is a $70 part. Take a good look at any rubber hose like he says. If it has any cracks, I would replace it. It doesn't take much air in the system to wreak havoc on these engines! Good luck!
  4. I used #14 on the fuse block. Used a male connector and hooked it in with the fuse and works just fine.
  5. 99 2500 4x4 128,000
  6. I have heard of some guys running over 20 psi. But, most run at about 17-18 psi. Anything over 20 psi could teat the diagpham in the VP. Then that is a $1000 bill for replacement for parts only.
  7. Any one try the fuel pump from Pure Diesel Power? Seems like a low ball price! All the ones that I have seen are at the $150 price range. Thanks for the info!
  8. Is there any thing that you have to do special while changing the pump out? Is it as simply bolting the new one one and priming it?
  9. I have a friend with a 98 12 valve. His fuel pump is going out. He wants to put a stock pump back on for $500.00 (includes labor). I told him to get a lifetime pump from one of the three big guns. Are the fuel pumps on the 12 valves as bad as the 24 valves?
  10. If I am reading correctly the last time you checked codes was in 2007. Have you checked for them recently? When my VP went out it would stall when shifting and it was hard to start as well.
  11. Looks like your getting good pressure both ways! Putting mine on was one of the best things I have done to my truck. Having good pressure and knowing that the check valve is opened and cooling the VP is a good feeling!
  12. Better the cost of a water pump than an alternator!
  13. Hope you had a great time! Its amazing what a day on an ATV does for you! Just got back from our beach house and 4 wheeling on the beach. Now its back to the vineyards.
  14. Mike, about a week ago you had someone from Finland sign up! I believe that is a testament to the type of site you are running! Keep up the great work! Thanks too! BTW
  15. You might see it be low when it is extremely cold and then goes up as the fuel gets warmed up from the returned fuel. You shouldn't see more than a 2-3 psi drop at WOT. I just got done pulling a fertilizer bin (10,000# empty and 18,000# full) over a bunch of hills and my pressure dropped only 1 psi. Sure is nice to have a proper fuel system (pressure gauge and after market lift pump) on these trucks! Just monitor the gauge and if you see a pressure reading that is abnormal, investigate it in a timely fashion. Our trucks eat up VP's with poor pressure.
  16. I am not doing the mod cause there is no problem present. 127,000 miles and the only oil that appears on my engine is when I miss pouring it in at oil change time!
  17. Appreciate the offer, but, that was 2 years ago! Had to get it fixed. The door wouldn't close without wrecking the fender.
  18. Was that price for all the sheet metal as well? Are they sanding the old paint and repriming it? Look at it in the sense that you are saving $33,000+ if you were to purchase a 2010! Seriously, if you know your drivetrain is in good shape I myself wouldn't be afraid to sink that amount of money in my truck if I was doing what your doing! Good luck with the repaint.
  19. Check for codes in the ECM and PCM. If you don't have a scanner you can do the key trick. ON, off, on, off, on look at the odometer and write down the codes P...., WAIT till it says done twice. If it only says done once then you are only reading one of the computers. A Dodge dealer will have to read any codes for the ABS system.
  20. Welcome to the both of you!
  21. Looks like a complete manual for a 1st gen truck. Thanks for sharing!
  22. Wonder what the maximum amount of snow that it could push? Pretty cool little toy! Who needed the driveway cleared? Was that Flagmanruss? That would work for him!
  23. I looked in the service manual and couldn't find a breakdown of the fuel sender unit. Do you think it was holding the screen in?
  24. I just found out that I have a leak on the drivers side of my cab. The carpet is dry on the side of the fender and the tranny as well as the carpet under the pedals. I can't figure out where it is coming from. The truck is parked on a slight slope, with the passenger side being about 6" lower. I pulled the kick panel off and started to pull the carpet up a little and so far no signs of a leak. Any one ever have this happen to them? Looking for suggestions! Thanks.
  25. Did you buy the AirDog? Or was it on the truck when you got it? They usually have a Lifetime warranty. I am not familiar with an AirDog set up. Have you tried contacting the manufacturer for any support?
