  1. ........................or a lost weight or simply time for a rebalance......................
  2. Pretty common for our vehicles driving gravel roads all the time if they are really dry and dusty, rims fill up with dust and when stopped all the dust dirt falls to one side of the rim and then causes a vibration, same goes when we get a lot of rain and drive gravel, surprising how much dirt builds up in the rim, I just wash out the inside of the rims and good to go again in most cases.
  3. This was more than a blood moon, it was a Full moon eclipse and blood moon which they call a "Super Moon".
  4. These were what my wife snapped with our old Nikon Coolpix S4 digital camera, have not down loaded the pics I took with out newer camera yet.
  5. Just came in from watching it the last 2.5 hours, had an awesome view here from my back yard. Just a few floater clouds dead calm and beautiful here now. Took some pics and will try to get some loaded when I get a bit.
  6. Depends on if he is pulling the filter after it has sat for a bit and cooled a bit is normal to draw oil back to the bottom of the filter stud or down about 1-2 inches, but if it is pulled while hot shortly after shut down and it is down that far then there is an issue as that's not normal. Fill fuel and oil spin on filters only if done the proper way of pouring it in the outer holes and letting it perkilate through to the center on its own so to filter it carefully and cleanly if pouring into the center which is where the clean oil exits the filter one gets some debris unknowingly in there is a straight shot to the engine to cause all sorts of havoc. Never prefill a canister filter housing, there is no way to ensure clean enough fuel.
  7. Your answer my friend is floating in his own post from above lol.
  8. Yep double check it with a mechanical gauge first then go with a sample before tearing into the bypass and reliefs, it would indicate wear metals showing an issue with main or rod bearings or other metals from cam bearing ect. The fastest way to go would be if you have a local caterpillar dealer who has an SOS oil lab to pick up a sample bottle at and then have them do it and post the results here and we can walk you through the results. Would cost you in the neighborhood of 20 bucks depending on the cat dealership otherwise there are mail order Used oil analyzer companies like Blackstone labs, oil analyzers through amsoil or a number of others.
  9. Pull an oil sample to see if you have other issues going on.
  10. This story just came out today to help answer that question. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/sep/24/golden-hammer-epas-fondness-for-high-end-furniture/
  11. Definitely a wiring or ecm issue, something is back feeding power to that circuit, when you pull the fuse there should only be power on one side not both as you indicated. Definitely have a starting point.
  12. All are missing the point of generating tax income and fees on all types of "Natural" fossil carbon based fuels no matter what form the come in. CO2 is not a pollutant Nox and Sox are but they regulated sox out of the equation before the pump with low sulfer fuel so now they need to attack Nox and co2 which is just a money making scheme alone. I deal with this working for a coal mine supplying a coal fired power plant, the EPA tries to cram a one size fits all solution down every ones throat no matter the facts and science, The laws of science don't budge, no matter how much the econuts / liberals try to sway the attitudes of the masses.
  13. Here are some interesting #'s http://www.infowars.com/popes-flights-to-cuba-u-s-emit-more-co2-than-557000-lbs-of-coal/
  14. Goood time to invest in stocks once they get the lawsuits filed should be about rock bottom by then. Also a good time for the VW after market tuner companies right now too. http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2015/09/volkswagen-emissions-fix-may-not-last-long/
  15. Would be easier to buy a Dodge Sprinter van with a Mercedes diesel or buy a Cargo bread type van body truck with a cummins already it, they can be had extremely cheap.
  16. About 80lbs less than when I met with you. You are the only one on this board who has seen me before my lifestyle change in person and the results a year after I started now in the pics. I met with the Florida gang at Johnfaks house last winter and they only know the mini me version of ol W&F lol.
  17. One more of my mug on my easily repaired and cheap mode of transportation.
  18. This is outside my backyard to give you an idea of my bike riding. This is me on my bike this spring, It's was what I could afford and I can fix it and gets me from point A to point B and has no electronics. so many folks think it is pancake flat in ND well here it is folks.
  19. The way it sounds you all need to go this route then. I have 2 brother in laws who do 100-120 mile a day bike rides every week, one in Buffalo NY and one in Iowa city IA.. In fact my bro inlaw from NY has a cancer research charity ride he started last year. http://terrybourgeois.com/ Living in an area like that and then making excuses for it is still a personal choice not a valid arguement in my book, One needs to look at all variables before making decisions. If there is no place to get something fixed that one can not repair oneself should be among the tops in considering a purchase like a vehicle. I have turned down awesome deals on Range rovers and Volvos in the past due to no or extremely limited parts availability alone and lack of dealerships within a few hundred miles of me even though I could work on them myself.
  20. Things are becoming so advanced and specialized that there will soon be very few non dealer independent shops that will be able to keep up with the techs training and tooling needs to be able to keep up with technology of the new rigs. Even a lot of smaller dealerships are having a hard time with this and the lack of good qualified techs adds to the issue, most are just parts exchangers and have no troubleshooting or repair abilities anymore, if the computer screen doesn't tell them whats wrong or how to go about fixing it they are totally stumped.
  21. I think this is a big reason we do not see too many 4th gens and others is the reliability factor is greatly improved over later years and also the lack or ease and cost of being able to mod them has slowed down a lot of forum traffic. That and the fact most are coming with 5 year+100K full bumper to bumper warranties as well so folks do not need to worry about things quite yet. Plus the fact that the guys with older ones spend hundreds and thousands to make a few extra HP and mileage which the new ones have surpassed by a long shot in stock form now especially in the power aspect. Heck the new gassers have as much if not more HP TQ as the 2nd gen Cummins and get the same mileage towing.
  22. I usually back them off a full turn at least and only do 3 at a time.
