  1. I just read where fass is advising to wire the signal to the wiper because of pressure being built during cranking. I got a pickup that is hard starting a week after I did a fass and vp. Gonna wire it to the wiper fuse and see if it helps
  2. Gaps would cause miss fire and rich codes
  3. Agree shuttle shift isnt caused by that. I would suspect gov. pressure sensor, solinoid, and band adjustment
  4. Drivers side rear o2 sensor is bad. The computer thinks its running lean so its over fueling causing the poor mileage. Dont over think it
  5. Key word JASPER. I personally have had 0% success with jasper parts. When I was in the shop we had a fleet of vehicles we maintained and the fleeting agency would send up jasper motors and not one of them lasted 10,000 miles. Had a rebuilt cat engine that made it to the highway before it dumped all the water into the oil.
  6. We have a hemi at work and the local shop mixed the coolant. I noticed this on my daily inspection. Less than a week later they were putting in a heater core and water pump
  7. I might buy a tapped inline fitting since I have the big line. That way its not vibrating since the big line is rubber. I got some ideas, just gotta round up material
  8. I took the handles off mine. To many smarta$$es around
  9. My local carquest gets the 1/2" ones. I explained what i want and he had it within 30 seconds
  10. Well I figured it out. I have a grease gun hose between the vp and the snubber to help eliminate vibration and hammering. Well I eliminated the hose and snubber and the fuel pressure builds up normal. So Im guessing the hose is collapsing causing the problems. Now I gotta figure out something to hook the sensor up to so that it is away from the vibrations of the engine
  11. Emd? GE? The wont let us have anything from a locomotive, guess they think we are going to sell them on ebay
  12. I just installed ball valves today on mine today to change fuel filters on my airdog
  13. So I decided it was time to install ball valves to make filter changing on my airdog easier. While I was doing this I changed the fuel filters out and pulled the regulator apart so I could inspect the ball and spring. Well now the pressure slowly builds and it takes a good 25 seconds before the pressure hits 18psi. Im at a total loss. This is verified by two mechanical gauges. Pickup starts perfect. Its an Airdog 2-165. The regulator is different than the spring and ball. It has a spring that pushes on a plunger type metal piece to regulate
  14. They do "fall" off too. I agree, use the smarty. When we had he sled pulling pickup, that thing would not smoke at all in half power mode and that pickup made 450/1200.
  15. A/c oil from the line leaking behind the air filter housing
  16. Try to find some dye first and see if that helps
  17. 4" with muffler should not be loud. I know dozens of cummins trucks running that same exhaust (I have personally owned two with it) and it is quiet in the cab. I would be looking at where your downpipe clamps to the turbo and all your other clamps
  18. I have the free one and mostly use it for the code reading. I was thinking about buying the full version. have no idea about the pids since i only use it for codes but might have to start using more of it.
  19. This probably wont work but take both negatives off the batteries. Make sure they are isolated from the posts and take one of the negative cables and hold it on the positive post. This completly drains the computer memory. Just hold it there for like 5 seconds and then hook everything back up. I have seen this fix some weird stuff before. Its worth a shot
  20. I would guess you have a bad gauge. And you should never have fuel pressure above 20psi, you are just asking for trouble.
  21. I would be looking at ecm connectors. All the codes deal with ecm. First two are intake heater, next is fuel system relay, last is no comm between vp44 and ecm
  22. FLOW TEST. 1. Remove the fuel pump supply banjo fitting from the fuel injection pump. 2. Install Miller Tool #9014 fuel system test fitting into the fuel injection pump. 3. Connect one end of a section of fuel hose to the test fitting. 4. Put the other end of the fuel hose into an empty fuel container. 5. Use the scan tool to actuate the fuel lift pump. 6. While the lift pump is running, move the fuel hose from the fuel canister into a 1000ml graduated cylinder for 10 seconds. 7. Read and record the amount of fuel in the graduated cylinder after 10 seconds. 8. If you have more than 430ml in the graduated cylinder after 10 seconds, the test has successfully passed. 9. If you have less than 430ml of fuel in the graduated cylinder, inspect the fuel supply line from the fuel tank to the fuel filter housing and the fuel supply line between the fuel filter housing and the high pressure fuel pump for signs of damage, replace as necessary. If no damage is found, replace the fuel filter and retest. 10.Verify the Screened Banjo Bolt at the outlet of the fuel filter is free of debris. If debris is found, rinse screen with water, blow dry and reinstall. Retest vehicle. If flow meets specification then trace back the source of debris, if flow is still below spec repair damaged component. DR ENGINE - ELECTRICAL DIAGNOSTICS - DIESEL 9 - 1583 11. If reading is still less than 430ml in 10 seconds, remove the fuel tank and fuel tank module. Inspect for damage and/or debris in and around the fuel tank module. If module is damaged, replace and retest. 12. If the module is not damaged, replace the fuel lift pump and retest to confirm fix. The transfer pump is self-priming: When the key is first turned on (without cranking engine), the pump will operate for approximately 2 seconds and then shut off. The pump will also operate for up to 25 seconds after the starter is engaged, and then disengaged and the engine is not running. The pump shuts off immediately if the key is on and the engine stops running. The fuel volume of the transfer pump will always provide more fuel than the fuel injection pump requires. Excess fuel is returned from the injection pump through an overflow valve. The valve is located on the side of the injection pump (Fig. 52). It is also used to connect the fuel return line to the side of the injection pump. This valve opens at approximately 97 kPa (14 psi) and returns fuel to the fuel tank through the fuel return line.
  23. First thing to do is verify fuel pressure. Is your gauge electric?
  24. Quick question, why didnt the dad shoot it? Here in the great state of nebraska they finally allowed some permits to shoot a couple mountain lions a year. Well this idiot that has never been outside the city of omaha decided that mountain lions are not dangerous to people of live stock. So he (ernie chambers, look him up he is a real winner) brought forth a measure to repeal the hunting law. And it actually passed because he said he would stall any other votes for game and parks funding.
  25. 1688 is bad injection pump. And if I remember right, the intank pumps are a flow test not a pressure. I know this is true on the 3rd gens but not certain on the 2nd.
