  1. keeping them clean and making sure the hinges are in good working order helps the most, any scratches should be remedied immediately.
  2. got some nice pics there. I like the house. although the crane makes me a tad leery lol
  3. would if I could, but no shop, no welder, hardly any money(medical bills are fun like that ) and unfortunately no time, job keeps that truck running 12+ hours a day and wife goes to college on y day off leaving me with some youngins that cannot be trusted to take care of them selves. makes regular maintenance a miracle in itself. I do plan on doing a custom bumper and flatbed the question is when I will be able too.
  4. generally I find its better to test a wire at its nearest connection point instead of poking holes. schematics also help reduce that if your just looking for a signal trace.
  5. after looking at the manual ref(8w-97-8) I got my work cut out for me. so I will post all of that in a new thread when I a done.
  6. you cannot tune a hid in a halogen housing, the bulb will not sit in the correct placement http://faqlight.shopower.com/hl-hid-kits.htm and more info http://faqlight.shopower.com/car-tested-retro.htm
  7. sometimes I see used beds for sale on craigslist for decent price, might be cheaper than the body shop.
  8. 2 relays. are AR606 at NAPA I will take photos of what I a doing later.
  9. I'm just modifying my existing harness . re routing through the PDC to include some relays I bought from napa. the existing wires are more than sufficient for 55w head lights. all in all my mod is 20 bucks vs the $150+ for a premade harness. added time maybe an hour or two.
  10. that pump is designed for gasoline not diesel. big difference in viscosity especially when the temps drop below freezing.
  11. several exist britebox commonly referred to. google "H4 highbeam kit" you can also make your own just takes a few relays splices and wires.
  12. no and there will never be one, google "dot approved hid upgrade" for a multitude of info regarding this. now if you want a true hid system in your truck your best bet is to look at hidplanet or similar sites for info on how to convert various headlight assemblies to utilize existing hid projectors from other vehicles. but for everyones sake: DO NOT PUT HIDS IN HALOGEN BASED HOUSINGS AND PROJECTORS!!!!!!! every single 2nd gen projector you see on ebay is halogen only! if you do this anyways you risk blinding other drivers and potentially killing someone.
  13. oh I totally agree with that, just trying to get the mechanical aspects as well
  14. sounds like the same stuff by you description although I never thought it would be a suitable heat transfer medium in a radiator.
  15. from : http://mopar.mopar1973man.com/cummins/general/better-mpgs/better-mpgs.htm which is why i was looking into it
  16. except for my exhaust, my truck doesnt really have any performance mods. looking at the bhaf or nanofiber filter merely from a fuel economy point of view.
  17. here in Oregon its mandatory B2, up in the Portland area I think the city mandates B5. we also have a fueling company that started here that sells B99, the thing is the bio sold at the pump is more expensive because they are using mostly soy crops with only a small % of it recycled. and the even funnier part of that is bio like ethanol has less BTU's per gallon. so although it makes for great lube and cleaner it doesn't make good on the efficiency side of things.
  18. nanofibers are available as dropin or as a large cone. supposedly allowing more airflow compared to a bhaf. still trying to decide ofcourse because they are just over twice the cost not counting outerwears cost on bhaf. as far as life span I swore my filter-minder was broken till i ripped it off the stock airbox and tested it. the sponge covered paper filter I have in there is still relatively clean.
  19. its not mounted in the same spot but otherwise yes you are correct it replaces the stock pup all together. the only time you would have to worry about a drawstraw is if you either have an intank pump or you are installing a 150gph pump or larger
  20. yup I saw that, I even talked to him a bit about shortly after you posted his howto.
  21. the custom tanks I see on motorcycles usually get coated on the inside with kreem or equivalent liquid sealer. keeps the rust at bay as well as seals any imperfections in the welding.
  22. this is one of those things i am still debating with before I purchase either nanofiber or bhaf
  23. every girl just needs a good rub down every now and then, wives too
  24. mine will stick telling me its engaged if i drop to low throttle it will sometimes disengage or I wind up dropping it into neutral which drops it out quicker somehow and pulling it back into 2H.
