  1. summer care is by far the most important for wipers, it seems that they dry out and crack around that time so spraying them down and keeping them clean regularly should be of utmost importance.
  2. from http://www.aa1car.com/library/motor_oil_605.htm
  3. yea the sport is a decent option for a retrofit, there is atleast one example over on hidplanet that used FX-R's for the main beam and kept the halogen highbeam socket. the newer sport headlights seem like they reversed the high and low beam bulbs, as the 9004 seems to be the highbeam now. not a bad idea really the 9007 has more lumens anyways for the main beam
  4. the only other non-wastegated I can think of are the VNT or VGT's and they adjust the vanes to control boost using a computer, although some people have adapted various pneumatic mechanisms such as a waste gate actuator to do this without the computer.
  5. pull knob came with the trucks equipped with fogs. my 99 has a turn switch and no fogs.
  6. did you pull the plug completely off and then put it back on? just thinking you could have some corrosion or debris in there causing your intermittent issue. I'm not sure if the pcm has a plug going into it but you could check that as well.
  7. based on that I think I will not move up to a CR.
  8. tip, it comes out easier with a bit of twisting I think ccw
  9. shipping it for a software update seems like a design flaw to me.
  10. might also depend on your area, over here the mice get into the pathfinder which my ex let the kids eat and make a mess of things for years, they also love my house 2 times a year... my truck which I never let them eat in is still untouched by rodents.air box full of acorns, uhm i suspect squirrels more likely in that case.
  11. happens with my NV4500 too same cause, I haven't fixed it yet as it only happens when i hit 75 mph in cruise control right as i hit the bottom of a hill, and I havent needed to drive that fast in a long while.
  12. not to be insulting to anyone but another good tip is keep your truck free of food, clean it regularly and especially if your kids eat in your truck. even a ketchup packet is an enticement for mice.if its free of food its less likely to be a nesting ground.
  13. the shop i go to the owner told me he preferred coopers over Michelin because of the warranties. cooper products even re-branded carry a longer warranty than the Michelin's, they also on average run better than Michelin's.overall i find small shops by far give better customer service and surprisingly better prices this guy beat out tire factory, begs, and definately blew leshwabs out of the water.
  14. yea i'm sure, for me having more protection on the bumper is ideal for my area. so a small bumper like that doesn't look like it would hold up to deer or the stray pedestrian that thinks they are deer.....:cookoo:i do like the hooks and winch however
  15. somehow it just reminds me of:
  16. ive used it in an old second hand lawn mower running a briggs and straton motor, the acetone cleaned up the carb build up. so in that sense yes it can improve some things but at what cost? I merely took a chance on an old beat up mower i got for free, but I wouldn't dare put it in my truck or any other vehicle.
  17. define affordable because there are a crap ton of aftermarkets it just depends on what you want and for how much
  18. sometimes it sticks, especially when its a bit worn out.when it was last working did it sound kinda clunky, maybe making a rat a tat sound?would it kick on randomly as you went over a bump? or if you take your palm and smack the bottom of it will it start going? generally this would be indicative of worn bearings and the brushes going out. the rat a tat sound you might here are the brushes arcing as the motor tries to spin.banging the bottom causes the spindle to hop slightly out of the worn bearings allowing it to spin a little more freely.you can use a punch to bend the tabs holding the motor closed and even dress up the commutator and brushes a bit with a file and some sort of lathe, (i used my drill press as a vertical lathe) it will keep you going for another year or two depending on how much of a run is left on the brushes.
  19. I would definitely be interested in a decent Linux option. especially if i get to do my he351ve Arduino project in the summer.
  20. would be nice if some of them did, especially power steering. I think I heard someone makes a coolant filter. found one http://www.wixfilters.com/productinformation/gff_coolantfilters.html ford retro http://www.dieselwarden.net/ford/coolfilter1.html just found a kit http://www.dieselsite.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=796 (not affiliated any way with the above site *at your own risk*)
