Thanks for the post EricPeterson on Cumminsforum So there's talk and talk and talk about the Thuren front toe-on specs ( zero or near zero ) vs. the stock toe-in specs ( 1/8" ). And there are tons of comments from guys who adjust toe themselves. And yet in the couple years I've been on here, I haven't actually seen an explanation of that. So let's address determining if you've got too much toe and then the pitfalls of having someone else try to set it for you, and then I'll post some easy pics. First, there's a simple way to tell if you have too much toe-in long before your tire edges are scrubbed off. Look at the finest cut lines inside the blocks nearest the outer edge -- the sipes. If the back edges of forward-pointing bends in the sipes are lifted and you can feel them bent upwards, you're scrubbing the outer edges of your tires and they will wear too fast. The tire wear surface should be flat. If there are edges of sipes lifted, the tire is seeing deformation and heating that's in excess of desirable wear parameters. Second, there's no need to take your truck in to a shop and argue with them over which set of specs to use. Some shops will never agree to use anything but stock specs because that's all their computers understand, and some might agree to use a non-stock spec... and use the default factory specs anyway because they'll assume their computers know best. And still others may agree but might not have the expertise to make their alignment computers dance properly to your custom settings. And then there are shops who can't do the work properly at all, under any circumstances. I do not believe in this day and age that that leaves many candidate shops at all. So... assuming your hub kingpins are tight, and your tie-rod ends are good, it's VERY easy to adjust toe-in yourself. Get some good duct tape and two identical plumb bobs for carpentry work. An additional tool might be a stable linear straight edge 8-feet long, like a nice piece of aluminum tile flooring threshold, or a simple piece of hot rolled steel flat. In a pinch you can use a tape measure, but you'll likely need a helper to hold it. Step 1: Jack your front axle so that each front tire is just barely off the ground. I use two jacks -- one under the pumpkin and one under the cast reinforcement on the long side -- so I can get each tire just at the right height. Step 2: Duct tape a plumb bob line to each front tire's forward side, approximately on the centerline, so that the bob hangs with its pointer just off the ground and the tape holding the line securely at that point where the line touches the tire tread. They don't have to be exactly on the tire centerlines; we're dealing with a difference here, so the errors zero out. Step 3: Take a stable linear reference -- like hot rolled flat shown in the photos -- and mark the locations where the plumb bobs point. I moved the flat until it was even with one side, and used another piece of duct tape to make the other side. Step 4: Rotate both tires so that the plumb bobs are hanging behind the tires. Move the straight edge behind the tires too. Take a look where the pointers fall. You'll note in the 3rd and 4th images that the right bob falls about an eighth of an inch further outboard than in front. This is 1/8" toe-in. I locked everything down at this point and after a day of driving noted that the back edges of my outboard sipes were lifting. Too much toe-in. I repeated the adjustment, turning the tie rod adjustment longer until the distance between bobs front and rear was as identical as I could make it, with perhaps only a touch of toe-in. This required only about 45 degrees of turn on the adjustment sleeve on my Synergy HD tie rod assembly. This is near-zero toe. Locked it down again. Done.

I dd'd with ~250 horse injectors and passed emissions with a single he351ve. It's all in the tuning. I ran a quadzilla adr and it was a pleasure to drive. There's videos in the article section Honestly I prefer stock timing to the smarty timing.

Please don't. You can accomplish the same thing by just using the throttle pedal. You would be much better off getting big boy injectors and turning the duration down, rather than up.

Well I finally got the temp tags off the truck today. All I can say is that there is a certain picture of johnny cash that I would like to send to the state of Colorado. All in all I paid nearly $7k in taxes to the state, ugh roughly %15 tax on a new vehicle when it is all said and done here in El Paso County Colorado... I dont even want to think about how much my paycheck was taxed on top of that to pay for the truck either.

Quadzilla gauge questions and opinions
the question you need to ask yourself is do you care if the gauges are %100 accurate or do you just want to know when "something aint right" ? the quad gauges are as good as the sensors that get the info. I never ran mech gauges and I never blew anything up dispite trying to a couple of times. the gauges worked just fine for me for ~100,000 miles and worked well enough to tell me when the airdog crapped out 2 times a year.

I did something...but I dont remember what hahaha. Oh yea I used a socket to jam a flex plate bolt into the case. There is that access hole on the passenger side.

Pretty sure it is leaking both testosterone and sex appeal "Because Viper" trumps a lot of things . I always wanted the Ford GT, but I can't help but drool over the viper We have datalogged a lot of what the smarty S03 is doing. This thread contains the info along with a lot of other info. in short however the S03 will command a static 18* of timing once duration hit's %100 and throttle is above a given tps input %. IE: at WOT you are only getting 18* of timing compared to the 32* you should be getting on the top end. you can see that when I go WOT (Orange line) from a Stop you effectively get a static timed VP44 sitting at 18* of timing. I have datalogs showing how much help you get in terms of true power by increasing max timing from 26* to 28* imagine going from 18* max to 32* max lol here are my datalogs

Quadzilla and Gauges
they can be used in different ways. The quad is going to show you a lot of things the ecm is seeing. This is something the gauge pods can't do, IE IAT temp sensor is reading way hotter than it should or boost sensor is reading way lower or higher than it should. so yes and no.

Might want to spruce up on the tuning you have as well. The Smarty does some pretty funky things for timing. there is a lot to be gained with better timing. forget the trucks lets see more of that manly viper. such a cool car.

Yep, the cluster is getting speed via the CCD bus, the ecm may or may not get that message for any number of reasons.- Great Songs

looking at the log it shows that boost is falling off to 0 at sub 16 psi points. when boost is below 16 psi the quad is asking the ecm what bosot pressure is. My guess is either your map is dying or you have a bad pin in your map harness causing boost to drop out randomly.- fuel pressure on the quadzilla adrenaline v2
